Elliott's flashlight beam swept in the direction of the figure, but it illuminated nothing but the rain-blurred windowpane and the black sky torn apart by the storm outside.

"What...what is that?" Elliott's voice trembled.

Fang Qingzhou did not answer.

But that name flashed through his mind.

Licker.

He immediately went to Elliott's side and covered his mouth with his hand. He remembered that the Licker was blind but had excellent hearing.

The two stood silently in place, not daring to even breathe. Only after the crawling sound completely disappeared did Fang Qingzhou release his hand from Elliott's mouth.

"It looks like that guy is completely gone. Let's quickly get the other badge and leave this place," Fang Qingzhou said softly.

Elliot nodded, and the two of them moved forward even more cautiously, not daring to make a sound, for fear of disturbing the monster lurking in the darkness.

Not long after, Fang Qingzhou saw the faint glow of Li Sanguang's skill activation on a table in front of him.

He strode forward. The faint light wasn't from ammunition or medicine, but from a crumpled letter stained with dark red blood, carelessly tossed onto a dusty desk. It read:

To all the utterly unlucky survivors.

Beware of a monster that looks like it's been skinned alive; I call it a Licker. They are blind, but their hearing is like that of a bat.

"Don't run around and fire like an idiot. You might have a chance to survive. If you encounter a monster like this, crawl slowly like an old lady."

"So it really is a Licker..." Fang Qingzhou was not surprised at all when he read the contents of the letter.

Fang Qingzhou handed the letter to Elliott, gesturing for him to take a look as well.

Elliott took the letter, the beam of his flashlight flashing across it for a moment. He scanned only the first few lines before his expression darkened further. He folded the letter, stuffed it into his pocket, nodded, and said nothing more.

The two continued forward and soon arrived at the location where another badge was placed, only to find that the statue of the girl with the other badge was locked behind iron bars.

Inside the iron bars, a large group of zombies were still locked up, and some of them were wearing conspicuous Umbrella Corporation uniforms.

As soon as they saw living people outside the fence, they pounced on them like madmen, their rotting arms frantically clawing through the gaps in the fence, emitting low, hoarse growls from their throats.

At the same time, Fang Qingzhou also saw that the entrance to the iron railing was blocked by a large number of wooden boards, with a piece of C4 explosive tied to it. He asked Elliott next to him.

"What's going on with all these people?"

"When the crisis broke out, a group of Umbrella Corporation employees came to the police station for refuge. These people had been hiding in the storage room on the third floor. I never expected that these people would be locked up and turned into zombies..." Elliott was also very surprised when he looked at the zombies.

Fang Qingzhou began searching the surroundings for a way to open the iron bars. Soon, he discovered another letter using Li Sanguang's skill, along with a bizarrely shaped corpse lying on the ground.

"Those damned company employees of mine all these years, they used me and then wanted to kick me aside to feed the zombies. Didn't expect that, did they? I had a backup plan. Luckily, there's a C4 bomb in this storage room. I'm going to blow all those damned company employees to smithereens!"

"It's a shame these incompetent cops kept the detonator and explosives separate!"

Fang Qingzhou glanced at the bizarre corpse on the ground. This person was clearly the one who had locked up those Umbrella Corporation employees. It seemed that he was discovered by the Licker when he was trying to find the detonator and had his head blown off by the Licker's tongue.

He had just glanced inside the iron bars and saw twenty zombies. He had to kill them and open the bars to get the badge.

The best way is to find a detonator to blow open the iron bars, which will also kill all the zombies inside.

However, the C4 explosion will definitely attract the Lickers, and he hasn't gotten the shotgun yet, so he might not be able to win in a head-on fight.

"Elliott, do you know where the C4 detonator is?" Fang Qingzhou asked Elliott.

"It's in a room next to the command center, but it's chained up, so I didn't take you there before. You'd have to cut the chain with pliers, and there aren't any batteries," Elliott replied immediately.

"Where can we find the battery?" Fang Qingzhou continued to ask.

"There should be one in the STARS team's office, but it's blocked off. We can only get there through the shower room we just passed, so we'll have to go to the boiler room to find a spare valve." Elliott looked troubled.

"Damn decryption..."

Fang Qingzhou had a headache just thinking about the complicated decryption process. If it weren't for Elliott being by his side, he would have no idea where to look for these things.

"Let's get the other badge first, then figure out how to find the keycard, get the shotgun, and then look for the other things," Fang Qingzhou said.

Elliot nodded, then led Fang Qingzhou toward the library. On the way, they found a key, and soon the two arrived at the library.

To Fang Qingzhou's surprise, the police station's library was ridiculously large, with two floors and bookshelves everywhere, though there were quite a few zombies wandering around on the bottom floor.

"When the disaster struck, we housed most of the civilians here," Elliott said.

"We could have protected them..."

"You've done your best. Now let them rest in peace," Fang Qingzhou said, gently patting his shoulder.

He then raised his gun and stood on the upper floor, firing at the wandering zombies below, trying to keep each shot as accurate as possible.

The bullet fell from the second floor and precisely pierced the top of the zombie's skull.

"Bang."

A zombie wearing a plaid shirt collapsed to the ground.

"Bang."

A zombie, its police uniform soaked in black blood, slowly slid down the bookshelf.

"Bang."

The third, the fourth, and the fifth.

One by one, the zombies wandering downstairs fell to the ground. The remaining zombies began to riot. They rushed towards the stairwell, following the sound of gunfire and shell casings hitting the ground, trying to climb upstairs. But Fang Qingzhou did not give them a chance. His gun followed the movement of the zombie horde, calling them out one by one before they surged up the stairs.

The magazine was emptied very quickly.

But in an instant, Fang Qingzhou pressed the magazine release button, the empty magazine fell to the ground, he took out a new magazine from his waist bag with his right hand, pushed it into the gun handle, the slide returned to its original position, and the bullet was chambered. The whole process took no more than three seconds.

Firing continued.

"Bang, bang, bang."

The last bullet pierced the back of the head of a female zombie wearing a dress. Her frail body collapsed on the stairs, rolled down the steps, and landed on the pile of corpses below.

The library fell silent again.

Fang Qingzhou exhaled a puff of white breath, put his pistol back in its holster, and glanced down at the results of the battle downstairs.

Twelve zombies were scattered on the floor and stairs of the library hall, black blood gushing from under their heads, pooling into several small pools on the ground.

"Let's go." Fang Qingzhou patted Elliott on the shoulder.

Eliot nodded and led Fang Qingzhou to the common room next to the library.

In the center of the lounge stands a golden unicorn statue, with a shield at its feet.

Elliott stepped forward and began entering the password. Soon, a round hole appeared in the center of the golden fighting shield, revealing the unicorn emblem inside.
