Chapter 54 The Tyrant's True Strength
The traitorous factory worker led fifty members of the Nine-Tailed Fox special forces toward the gates of Umbrella.
Raising his wrist, the green bracelet was placed on the access control sensor, emitting a crisp electronic beep.
The heavy metal doors slid open slowly to the sides, revealing the spacious interior of the Umbrella factory.
Koji Gomi raised his right fist, and the Nine-Tailed Fox soldiers behind him stopped in their tracks. His gaze quickly swept across every shadow in the factory area and every corner where ambushers might be hiding.
His gaze was soon drawn to the massive factory building 700 meters ahead. It was a pure white building with a huge red and white umbrella-shaped logo painted on its exterior wall. Below the logo was a metal gate that was even thicker than the gate he had just seen.
"That factory is the core area. I've never seen what it looks like inside, but all the products are manufactured there and then shipped out," the inside man said, pointing to the huge factory in front of him.
"Security personnel with blue wristbands usually patrol that area, and you can get the wristbands from them."
"First squad, deploy on the left flank; second squad, deploy on the right flank; third squad, follow me along the central axis; fourth squad, stay at the entrance and guard the retreat route." Koji Gomi immediately began issuing orders.
Soon, three of the teams formed a wedge formation and entered the factory area, while the other team guarded the gate.
The informant also stayed at the door, using a green wristband to prevent the door from closing.
Just half a minute after Koji Gomi and his soldiers entered the factory, the open door behind them suddenly moved without warning.
The two heavy metal doors slammed shut with a speed several times faster than when they were opened, producing a dull, resounding thud.
One of the Nine-Tailed Fox team members, who was standing right on the closing line of the metal door, didn't even have time to make a sound before he was crushed between the edges of the two doors and exploded like a bursting watermelon, with blood and flesh splattering everywhere.
The fourth squad leader, who was guarding the gate, was sprayed with warm blood mist. He had been in the army for nearly twenty years and had seen corpses blown apart by artillery shells and limbs torn apart by landmines, but he had never seen a person be squeezed and blown to pieces by a door right in front of him.
He stood there stunned for a while before snapping out of the chill that shot up his spine, then yelled at the equally terrified mole beside him, "Open the door! Open the door now!"
The informant was trembling violently. He was just an ordinary worker who had agreed to guide these foreigners in order to earn more money. He never imagined that he would witness such a terrifying scene.
However, he reacted to the shouts of the fourth squad and tremblingly pressed the bracelet against the sensor. But the metal door did not open as expected; instead, a line of cold red text flashed.
Insufficient permissions
"How could this happen..." The mole was completely stunned and collapsed to the ground.
"Prepare for the explosion!" The fourth squad leader decisively abandoned the mole who was already slumped on the ground.
He turned around and gestured to the team members behind him who were in charge of the demolition. The two soldiers immediately squatted down, took out explosives and detonators from their backpacks, and began to assemble them.
Just then, a bullet shot out from the dark woods outside the gate, accurately piercing the back of the mole's head.
"Enemy attack! Enemy attack!" the fourth squad leader shouted urgently, trying to turn around and fire at the direction from which the bullets were coming.
A second bullet flew from another direction and precisely pierced the temple of a soldier next to him who was deploying a demolition device.
Before the soldier's body had fully fallen to the ground, the third and fourth bullets followed in quick succession, each hitting the target precisely without missing a single one.
"Sniper! In the woods!" The remaining soldiers of the fourth squad raised their guns and fired towards the woods, but their bullets only hit the tree trunks, scattering bits of bark and debris.
"Report! This is the fourth squad! We've been attacked by an unidentified sniper at the gate! Repeat, we've been attacked by an unidentified sniper at the gate! Requesting immediate backup!" The fourth squad leader leaned against the metal door, shouting into the walkie-talkie while firing his gun into the darkness with one hand.
But before they could get a response on the walkie-talkie, a dense hail of bullets completely enveloped them.
After all the survivors were found at the gate, a man in a Raccoon City Police Department uniform and twenty men in SWAT uniforms emerged from the woods carrying submachine guns.
"Traitor." The man in the Raccoon City Police Department uniform stood in front of the accomplice's body and fired a few more shots with his submachine gun.
He is the sniper we just saw, named Kevin Lehman. He has excellent shooting skills and athletic ability. He participated in the STARS selection twice, but was rejected both times because of his carefree and somewhat irresponsible personality.
After the crisis in Raccoon City, his carefree personality was corrected, and he became a skilled fighter. He then stomped on the walkie-talkie on the ground that was responding.
"Begin cleaning."
Meanwhile, inside the factory, Koji Gomi was staring at the metal gate that had locked them inside.
The flesh and blood of the soldier who had just been crushed remained on the closing seam of the metal door, and dark red liquid was dripping down the metal door seam, forming a small puddle on the cement floor.
The walkie-talkie in his hand only crackled with gunfire, followed by a piercing electronic buzzing.
"Squad leader, this door can't be blown open. We didn't bring that much TNT!" The soldier in charge of the demolition reported with a grim face after checking the thickness of the metal door. No one would have thought that a factory gate would be made of such thick steel.
"However, we can try to blow up the wall." Once the door reaches a certain level of hardness, the wall becomes a relatively vulnerable target.
"Keep moving forward. We've been discovered. The door ahead is definitely locked. We have to use the explosives there." Koji Gomi turned around, his gaze sweeping across the open ground several hundred meters away, landing on the pure white factory building.
His face was extremely grim. He hadn't even seen the enemy's face, yet his side had already lost a quarter of its troops and was trapped.
The other side had clearly been monitoring their every move, but they still had to complete their mission and couldn't just slink back like that.
The remaining 38 Nine-Tailed Fox members exchanged glances before continuing onward. Just then, a buzzing sound, like the sound of propellers, came from the sky.
"What's that sound?" Kenichi Kondo looked up at the sky, and he seemed to see something flying in the sky.
Then a searchlight shone down from above the thing, illuminating the entire Nine-Tailed Fox squad. Several soldiers who didn't have time to react were blinded by the bright light and instinctively raised their hands to shield their eyes. At that moment, Kenichi Kondo also saw what it was.
"That's a helicopter?" Kenichi Kondo exclaimed incredulously.
He had seen the exact same helicopter in the Resident Evil game, but he never expected that there would actually be such a helicopter in a company's factory.
"Scatter! Scatter now!" Koji Gomi's shout startled him awake.
But it was too late. The doors on both sides of the helicopter slid open simultaneously, and two special police officers in black uniforms began firing submachine guns at the people below.
The beams of bright white searchlights illuminated the ground as if it were daytime. The Nine-Tailed Fox soldiers ran through the beams of light, falling, getting up, and being shot down again, bullets sweeping past their footprints.
"Find cover and then fight back!" Koji Gomi grabbed Kondo by the strap of his backpack and dragged him up from the ground. Kondo's left calf had been grazed by a stray bullet, and his trouser leg was soaked in blood. He was limping as he ran.
They hid in a corner, raised their guns and began to return fire. The bullets struck the helicopter in mid-air, sending sparks flying, and the helicopter quickly began to fly away from the area.
Kenichi Kondo wasn't mistaken; this was the helicopter that crashed as soon as it appeared in Resident Evil, which Fang Qingzhou had redeemed.
Of course, Fang Qingzhou also knew that the plane was very fragile, so his order to the pilot was to return immediately if attacked.
As the sound of the helicopter's rotors faded into the distance, the beam of its white searchlight disappeared into the night sky along with the helicopter. The open area was once again swallowed by darkness, but there were five or six corpses and several wounded soldiers on the ground.
"It...it flew away?" Kondo collapsed next to a corpse, his face splattered with blood, staring blankly at the body of his comrade in front of him.
This was completely different from the battlefield he had imagined, and completely different from the games he had played. He began to feel fear, and his whole body trembled.
"Bandage the wounded and move on." But soon after, Koji Gomi slapped him across the face and shouted the order.
Koji Gomi also felt extremely frustrated. He wished the enemy would confront them head-on instead of resorting to underhanded tactics. He was confident that his soldiers would not lose in a direct confrontation.
Despite his frustration, after seeing the security force of the factory, he was certain that their target was inside. How could an ordinary factory have so many guns and even a helicopter?
Umbrella's factory is much more than just a skincare product production line.
The other soldiers quickly bandaged the wounded, checked the weapons and ammunition, and continued forward.
They did not see the security personnel mentioned by the informant, and soon the remaining thirty soldiers arrived in front of the factory.
"Plant the explosives and blast open the wall next to us," Koji Gomi ordered.
Soon, Ryota Kurokawa pulled out a strip of TNT and a detonator from his backpack, but just as he stepped forward to install it, the huge metal gate opened by itself.
"Squad leader! The door is open! That big gate opened by itself!" Kurokawa shouted, pointing at the factory building, his voice filled with uncontrollable astonishment.
Koji Gomi gritted his teeth and instantly became alert. From the moment they entered the factory area, every step they took had been under someone else's control. There was definitely something waiting for them behind this suddenly opened gate.
Just as Koji Gomi was hesitating whether to order someone to go in and check, he heard heavy footsteps coming from inside the factory.
"Prepare to engage the enemy!" Koji Gomi raised his gun and aimed ahead.
Soon a gray-skinned giant emerged from the shadows, wearing an officer's leather overcoat and a wide-brimmed top hat, his facial features outlined in shadows, making him appear cold and stiff.
"Tyrant!" Kenichi Kondo was completely stunned. The sight of the monster from the game actually appearing in front of him was incredibly impactful.
Gunfire erupted instantly. The Nine-Tailed Fox soldiers no longer needed orders; all their guns spat fire simultaneously, and a barrage of bullets covered the Tyrant's entire upper body.
His leather coat was torn in several places, revealing undamaged gray skin. A ping-pong ball bounced and fell to the ground with a thud, but the tyrant's steps only faltered slightly before he continued walking forward.
"Don't stop! Keep firing! Concentrate your fire on the head!" Koji Gomi fired while retreating.
The gun was adjusted, and all the bullets were concentrated on the tyrant's head. His wide-brimmed hat was blown off, revealing his bald gray forehead.
The bullet struck its forehead with a crisp sound like a nail being hammered into a steel plate. The bullet lodged in its skin, but it quickly wiped it away with its hand, revealing the still intact gray skin underneath.
The tyrant quickly accelerated, charging into the Nine-Tailed Fox's formation at a speed completely disproportionate to its size. With a sweeping motion of its giant paw, three soldiers were sent flying, guns and all, crashing into the wall, creating a hole and completely collapsing their chests.
"Scatter! Scatter! Don't let it hit multiple people at once!" Koji Gomi continued to yell.
But the tyrant's speed and power were completely beyond their comprehension. It threw a straight punch that pierced through Ryota Kurokawa's chest and emerged from behind him.
Kurokawa looked down at the giant gray hand that had pierced through his chest, and a few bloody bubbles burst from his throat before the tyrant slammed him to the ground like a rag doll.
Bullets continued to rain down on the tyrant's back, neck, and legs, the bullets bouncing off and landing with a crisp clang.
The tyrant turned around, expressionlessly glancing at the soldiers who were still firing at it, and then charged forward again. Soon, several more nine-tailed fox soldiers flew onto the wall and couldn't be pried off.
"Kurokawa!" Kenichi Kondo collapsed to the ground, staring incredulously at Ryota Kurokawa's corpse, which had a large hole in its chest.
He quickly noticed the explosives that had fallen next to Ryota Kurokawa, and he immediately rushed over to pick them up.
"I'll fight you to the death!" Kondo Kenichi, clutching the explosives, staggered toward the tyrant.
Just as he was about to get close to the tyrant, a bullet pierced his brain, and he fell straight down. The explosive charge slipped from his loosened fingers, rolled a few times on the ground, and stopped next to the tyrant's military boots.
"Although you might not be able to blow up the Tyrant, I'd be in a real bind if you actually managed to rip his coat off." Fang Qingzhou led dozens of fully armed security personnel out of the factory.
The muzzle of the pistol in his hand was still smoking, clearly indicating that he had fired the shot.
Although the tyrant could have easily turned around and punched that guy to death, Fang Qingzhou still fired the shot.
The tyrant's coat wasn't just for looks; it was also a power limiter with bulletproof capabilities.
The T-virus within the Tyrant is highly unstable. When the body is damaged or its life is threatened, it will trigger uncontrollable regenerative mutations, causing it to lose its mind and enter a state of indiscriminate attack. The power limiter built into the coat maintains the Tyrant's controllability and mission execution ability by suppressing the virus's activity.
If the coat is torn, the Tyrant will quickly mutate into a Super Tyrant, with its muscles swelling and its arms transforming into claws. However, it will also completely lose its mind, become unable to accept commands, and turn into an indiscriminate attacker.
Fang Qingzhou could command the Tyrant while it was wearing the overcoat, but if the overcoat was badly damaged and the limiter inside malfunctioned, he would have no way to control it. If the Tyrant went berserk here, his production line would be finished, and he didn't want to gamble on that one in ten thousand probability.
"Alright, lock up the rest of them." Fang Qingzhou put his pistol back on his waist and raised his right hand to gesture to the tyrant.
The tyrant's movements stopped the instant he received the order. His fist, which was about to smash the next soldier's head to pieces, hung in mid-air, then slowly lowered. He straightened up again, turned around, and returned to Fang Qingzhou's side.
The security personnel behind Fang Qingzhou immediately stepped forward and disarmed the surviving Nine-Tailed Fox team members one by one.
A squadron of fifty Nine-Tailed Foxes was wiped out in less than half an hour after entering the factory, with only five men captured alive.
Fang Qingzhou also measured a portion of the Tyrant's strength. It was a humanoid armored vehicle. Light weapons were completely ineffective against it, but heavy firepower still needed to be used sparingly.
The most suitable combat scenario is the city. In a complex urban area, the Tyrant can take down a company of soldiers all by himself. Although rockets and explosives can pose a threat to it, the Tyrant's reaction speed is not slow and it may not be hit.
On the battlefield, the tyrant is at risk of being instantly killed by artillery fire, but as a bodyguard, he is the perfect choice, and can also be equipped with weapons later.
