Warhammer: Starting with Industrial Revolution
Chapter 40: A Profit-Driven Guy
How could Luo Ning not understand such an obvious invitation?
He entered the room with a smile, subtly activating the power he had stolen from the Lord of Pleasure.
At first, Milley was reserved and pretended to refuse.
But Luo Ning could clearly hear the voice in her heart. She didn't even want Luo Ning to be so polite; instead, she wanted him to possess her wildly.
He no longer hesitated at all, and simply mobilized every muscle in his body.
Several hours later, the two lay exhausted in bed, while Milley had already drifted off to sleep.
He gently stroked Millein's hair, the scene from just now still echoing in his mind.
The leader of the traveling merchants, who was like a queen, always looked down on everyone, but in front of me, he went from amazement to panic, and finally begged for mercy but to no avail, until he briefly lost consciousness.
He couldn't help but laugh, but the next second, the smile turned into a bitter one.
It can only be said that it's fortunate that Slaanesh truly cannot touch his own soul; otherwise, if he had used this power so recklessly, he might have already degenerated into a monster in the Twisted Warp.
But he must use the power of the Lord of Pleasure carefully. Perhaps he should test how to actively control this power when the opportunity arises.
Otherwise, his inexplicable attraction to the opposite sex would have eventually drawn the attention of others in the empire.
That will make things very difficult.
but...
With a soft moan from Milain, as if even in her sleep she couldn't escape Ronin's clutches, Ronin snapped out of his thoughts and closed his eyes.
When the next day dawned, Ronin opened his eyes and found that Milley had already woken up.
She sat there looking at Luo Ning, her eyes full of curiosity.
"Lord Luo Ning, just who are you? A mere assistant governor of a marginal planet? A genius businessman? Or simply a beast?"
Luo Ning smiled; Milain had transformed from the charming woman of last night back into her usual queenly self.
Although she was completely naked, even as she spoke in that delicate tone, she was constantly scheming in her mind.
At yesterday's banquet, Victor placed an order for a large number of mechanical parts.
Some of these are treasures that are rare even on wealthy planets, and their prices are incredibly high.
Although Ronin represents the planetary governor, it is clear to anyone with eyes to see that the Empire has never truly valued this remote corner of the marginal planet, despite it being an industrial hub.
Their only products were ammunition and light industry; they didn't even have the chance to produce the most basic laser rifles.
But they were incredibly generous when it came to making deals.
Although Luo Ning, this cunning old fox, was incredibly precise in his bargaining, he could only engage in the most basic bartering, yet the amount of this transaction was still enormous.
That's simply not something a marginal planet could withstand.
With her keen business sense, Milley looked at Ronin, determined to uncover the secret, even if it meant probing indirectly.
What Milain had no idea was that Ronin had heard all of her thoughts.
He couldn't help but smile wryly. Although it seemed like a generous gesture, this order had actually emptied the governor's mansion of all its current resources.
However, it's all worth it. Once these parts are in place, the factory's production capacity and yield rate can reach a new level, and this investment will soon be recouped many times over.
The same reason was for requiring a final payment contract: during Milley's absence, Nest City had more time to produce supplies and use this time difference to make up for the shortage of materials.
Although he had asked Viktor to include as many parts as possible that could improve the production efficiency of the Nest City factory, Viktor was indeed a bit too ruthless.
However, Luo Ning did not show any of this. He just smiled faintly, looking at the woman in front of him, even with a hint of flirting.
"Perhaps I am just an ordinary mortal, but what about you? You have never introduced yourself to me. I only know that you are from the Noctis family, and nothing else."
"My family has been a group of wandering merchants under the Holy Terrath for generations, and I am my father's youngest daughter. No one in the family can control me, of course, also because of my outstanding abilities." Milain said with a proud smile.
She certainly has the talent; she has achieved so much at such a young age.
Let alone ordinary people, even ordinary nobles might not be able to compare with the wealth she possesses.
"Alright, Lord Luo Ning, I've answered your questions, so now it's your turn to answer me honestly. Who exactly are you?" Her eyes held a hint of cunning as she looked at Luo Ning, while she herself was secretly wondering which powerful family he came from.
After all, this skill of negotiating with wandering merchants can only be learned in families that truly possess power.
However, this did not stump Luo Ning, since although he had transmigrated to this world, he still retained the memories of his previous body.
"I am really just an ordinary mortal. I was an orphan when I was very young. I have known the governor since I was a child. A long time ago, he made me his follower. Later, he was appointed as the governor of this planet, and I naturally followed him here as his assistant."
As Luo Ning spoke, he couldn't help but sigh inwardly that his predecessor was quite lucky.
As an orphan, he was able to become acquainted with nobles from childhood and eventually rise to the position of assistant governor, a high position that ordinary people could never reach even if they worked hard for ten lifetimes.
Milley, however, did not believe Luo Ning's words at all. She lay on Luo Ning's chest, staring intently into his eyes, as if trying to find any trace of falsehood within them.
But clearly, she failed.
However, the disappointment of failure was fleeting, and the next second her eyes turned cunning again.
"Lord Luo Ning, I wonder if you're free today? If so, could you take me to Chaodu for a look around? Perhaps we can discuss some business further?"
"It's my pleasure to serve you." Luo Ning smiled gently, just like a gentleman.
But Ronin already knew exactly what Milley was thinking.
She only wanted to use the opportunity of Luo Ning taking her around to uncover the secrets of their planet. This was the instinct of the wandering merchants; everything they did was simply to obtain greater profits.
But Luo Ning didn't care, even though he had implemented reforms and optimized production methods throughout Chaodu.
This time, however, the opponent was a wandering merchant, not the Imperial Inquisition.
For these wandering merchants, as long as there is enough profit to be made, they will only think about how to get a share of the pie, let alone just changing the production process or even engaging in illegal gray-market business. They will never meddle in other people's business.
If possible, establishing a stable partnership with Milley and his people would be entirely beneficial to their planet.
The development speed of Chaodu will be dramatically improved.
