Douluo Dragon King: The Twin Dragons of Time and Space, Mistaken for Dragon God

Chapter 17 Even if the eight of you join forces, you cannot measure me.

The sun had already set, leaving only a last sliver of crimson on the horizon. Chu Nan and Gu Yue walked along the path back to the academy, all around quiet except for the rustling of leaves in the wind.

After a while, the moon rose, casting long shadows of the two people.

Gu Yue walked beside Chu Nan, her head down, her fingers constantly twisting the hem of her clothes. She stole several glances at Chu Nan, each time her lips moved but she swallowed them back.

Her mind raced back to what had just happened at the Ascension Platform—she had lured the Crystal Bear here, almost blowing up the Dragon God as well. Although the Dragon God hadn't said anything, would he think she was too reckless? Would he distance himself from her because of it?

She bit her lip and then stole a glance at Chu Nan's profile.

Under the moonlight, Chu Nan's features were clearly defined, with sword-like eyebrows and bright eyes. He had a blade of grass in his mouth again, swaying back and forth, looking just like a little old man taking a stroll.

Gu Yue took a deep breath and mustered her courage to speak: "Chu Nan..."

"Hmm?" Chu Nan turned to look at her, the blade of grass in his mouth twitching slightly.

Gu Yue's face flushed slightly, and her voice was as soft as a mosquito's buzz: "What...what are your thoughts on relationships? Is there...a girl you like?"

Chu Nan was stunned, and almost dropped the grass stem in his mouth.

He blinked rapidly, his mind racing: "What's going on? Did the sun rise in the west? Is the Silver Dragon King going to discuss relationship issues with me? Could it be... she's interested in me? No way, no way, I'm only nine! I may be handsome, but it's not like I'm that bad..."

Chu Nan's lips curled into a smirk, his mischievousness rising, and he deliberately dragged out his words: "Gu Yue, why are you asking this? Could it be... that you have someone you like?"

Gu Yue's face instantly turned red to her ears, and she quickly lowered her head, stammering, "N-no, I...I was just curious...asking casually..."

"Oh—I see." Chu Nan flipped the grass stem over and said seriously, "Then I'll tell you, I have someone I like."

Gu Yue suddenly raised her head, her purple eyes flashing, her fingers unconsciously clenching the hem of her clothes. Only one thought occupied her mind: "Who is it?! Could it be his master? No, that's his master... Could it be some girl from school...?"

Chu Nan cleared his throat and solemnly announced, "I like aloof and mature women."

Gu Yue froze, her mind going blank for a moment: "Aloof... a mature woman?"

"Yeah, right." Chu Nan shook his head like a little adult. "Mature women are so much better. They're mature, stable, have presence, and are capable. They can protect you when it matters. Unlike little girls, who look cute but are actually—they can be deadly when they cause trouble."

He paused, sighed, and said earnestly, "When you're young, you don't know how good older women are, and you mistake a little girl for a treasure! This is my life lesson from my time travel... cough cough."

Gu Yue's mind was in turmoil after hearing this: "So this is the type the Dragon God likes... aloof, mature, and powerful... then she seems... quite fitting? She is the Silver Dragon King, so she's aloof enough, right? And powerful enough too, right? As for mature... although she's still young, her aura should be able to lean towards that direction!"

She stole a glance at Chu Nan, her face growing increasingly red, her heart pounding like a deer's. It seemed she needed to maintain her aloofness and become more mature...

Gu Yue took a deep breath, about to say something—

"Hey kid, I didn't expect you to have such good taste in women!"

A lewd voice came from the bushes by the roadside.

Chu Nan and Gu Yue turned their heads at the same time.

Eight people emerged from the shadows of the bushes. They were dressed in various ways: some wore black robes, some wore tattered leather armor, and two wore cloaks that looked like they had been salvaged from a garbage dump. Each of them exuded a cold, decaying aura, as if they had just crawled out of a graveyard.

The leader was a middle-aged man with a hooked nose, sinister eyes, and a powerful aura of soul energy emanating from him—at least at the Soul Emperor level. He rubbed his hands together and grinned, "After squatting for so many days, we've finally caught a student. Guarding both the Spirit Pagoda and the academy, my legs are numb from squatting."

A Soul King standing nearby, with a pointed face and a sleazy demeanor, nodded and bowed obsequiously, "Yes, yes, if we don't gather enough people soon, it'll be difficult to explain to Lady Bell." His gaze fell on Gu Yue, and his eyes lit up, "Tsk tsk, this little girl is really pretty..."

Another Soul Master, his eyes fixed on Gu Yue, drool dripping from his mouth, said in a flirtatious tone, "Little sister, want to play with us brothers? We promise you—"

Gu Yue's eyes were icy, and her voice was like frost: "Get out."

Instead of getting angry, the Soul Lord chuckled and licked his lips: "Oh, you're quite spicy! It's alright, once I catch you, I'll teach you a lesson and see if you still—"

"Stop, stop." Chu Nan picked at his ear, looking disgusted. "You? You look like a pumpkin that's been slammed in a door, your face is so wrinkled you could trap a fly, your eyes are so small they look like they've been pricked with needles. You dare to come out and scare people with that kind of appearance? If I were you, I would have already found a block of tofu and smashed my head against it to avoid polluting the air. Look at your outfit, dressed like a beggar elder, your belt is even a straw rope. You're so poor and you still want to be a bad guy? You might as well go home and eat dirt."

The Soul Lord's face turned purple with rage, and he trembled with fury: "You—!"

"Pfft! Hahahaha~~~"

The other evil spirit masters immediately burst into laughter.

A Soul King with a scar on his face patted the Soul Venerable on the shoulder and laughed, "Seventh Brother, you're too embarrassing to be scolded like this by a little brat."

The other fat Soul King looked at Chu Nan, narrowing his eyes: "Kid, still being stubborn even when you're about to die? Where do you get your confidence?"

Chu Nan glanced at the eight people, his expression indifferent, a cold smile playing on his lips: "Recently, the rumors in Donghai City have been rampant about you, the bunch of shady rats who specialize in kidnapping and harming genius Soul Masters, right? Tsk tsk, eight people, the lowest being Soul Venerable and the highest Soul Emperor—with this kind of setup, you dare to come out and rob people? Aren't you afraid of being laughed at by your peers?"

The leading Soul Emperor's eyes narrowed, and his tone became solemn: "You know quite a lot. It seems you're not simple either." He looked Chu Nan up and down, licked his lips, and said, "Perfect, killing you and turning you into a puppet would be just what Lady Bell likes."

Chu Nan shook his head, his tone indifferent: "Want to kill me? You're not even worthy to test my strength. Even if the eight of you joined forces, you'd be nothing more than ants trying to shake a tree, or ants trying to see the sky. To put it bluntly: you're a bunch of worthless scoundrels, nothing more than worthless rats."

"Boy, you've got quite the nerve!" A tall, thin Soul Master was enraged, and his Martial Soul instantly possessed him—Poison Vine! Two vines with poisonous thorns shot out from his sleeve and coiled towards Chu Nan.

"Kid, I'll send you on your way right now!" Another fat Soul King also moved, his Martial Soul Corpse emitting a pungent stench, his fleshy fist smashing towards Chu Nan.

Immediately afterward, the Scarface Soul King and the leading Soul Emperor also attacked simultaneously—Blood Blade and Bone Spike. Four Soul Masters unleashed four different Martial Souls at once!

Chu Nan remained calm and composed, instantly activating his Twin Dragon Martial Souls.

His left eye was silver-white, and his right eye was dark gold. Two illusory figures appeared behind him—a dragon of time flowing endlessly like a silver river, and a dragon of space layered like a kaleidoscope. Two blue and one green spirit rings rose from his feet, the colors of the self-formed spirit rings particularly dazzling under the moonlight.

A vast and ancient dragon's might erupted from his body, crushing everything in its path as if it were a tangible force.

The four evil spirit masters who had rushed forward and the four who remained in place all changed their expressions at the same time.

It was a suppression emanating from the depths of their bloodline, as if they were facing not a three-ring Soul Master, but an ancient ferocious beast. Their martial souls trembled under this pressure, and even the circulation of their soul power became sluggish.

Gu Yue stood to the side, her purple eyes gleaming with a strange light, her heart skipping a beat: "This pressure... is even stronger than when we sparred at the academy! Could it be that Lord Dragon God's power is about to awaken?"
