Mythical Luo, starting with the fox spirit

Chapter 4 First Steps into the Beech Forest

As Yang Ping calmed his mind and entered a meditative state, time gradually passed.

The evening breeze sways the bamboo shadows, and the setting sun turns to shade the mountains.

As the sun was about to set, the once bustling scene outside the gates of Jinglong Town was now completely silent.

Only the streets within the city, lit up with lights, still had pedestrians coming and going; inns, restaurants, and other establishments were bustling with people, and the air was filled with the aroma of wine.

Yang Ping'an awoke from his cultivation, his eyes bright and alert, his energy and spirit at their peak. He jumped off the wooden bed, stretched his limbs, and made sure his whole body was in good shape.

Yang Ping'an picked up his sword, opened the door, and walked out of the room. He went down the stairs to the lobby on the first floor, found a waiter to settle the bill for the day, ordered some food, and prepared to leave Jinglong Town after dinner.

After a stick of incense had burned, Yang Ping'an leisurely walked out of the inn and strolled along the street into a quiet alley, leaving the bustling neighborhood behind.

Taking advantage of the fact that no one was around, Yang Ping'an stepped onto his flying sword, concealed his figure, and soared upwards from the alley.

Yang Ping'an controlled his flying sword, ascended into the air, and gazed into the distance. The setting sun hung on the mountaintop, and dappled sunlight sprinkled across the earth.

Wilderness colors are shrouded in cold mist, and mountain light is enveloped in evening smoke.

The beech forest, shrouded in thick fog, resembles a giant beast ready to devour its prey, lying prostrate in the valley, a truly awe-inspiring sight from afar.

Yang Ping'an took a deep breath and flew towards the giant beast as dusk fell. He arrived at the edge of the Beech Forest on his flying sword, jumped off, one hand forming a sword incantation, the other holding his precious sword, and cautiously entered the forest.

Thick fog swirled within the Beech Forest, obscuring even the smallest details. As Yang Ping'an stepped into the fog, he was startled; with a snap, he stepped on something.

Yang Ping'an unleashed his divine sense, which enveloped his entire body. In the thick fog, his divine sense could only vaguely perceive the outlines within a hundred-meter radius. Besides the enormous trees, countless spider webs hung from the trunks, and beneath the webs lay many strangely shaped creatures crawling on the ground.

He tried to compress his divine sense to a size of ten meters around him before he could clearly perceive the scenery within his divine sense domain.

Yang Ping'an used his divine sense to see that he was stepping on the skeleton of a rabbit. Even after discovering the source of the sound, Yang Ping'an remained uneasy.

Yang Ping'an recalled the strangely shaped objects he had just scanned with his divine sense; they were the remains of various animals.

Yang Ping'an felt a chill run down his spine and became even more cautious. He carefully sensed the path within a ten-meter radius around him with his divine sense. The sword in his hand shimmered with spiritual light, its blade sharp and restrained.

Given the situation, it can unleash a devastating attack in an instant. Yang Ping'an dared not be careless, and slowly paced forward, carefully avoiding the beech trees, spider webs, and corpses in his path.

As he ventured deeper into the Beech Forest, Yang Ping'an followed a mysterious feeling, constantly changing his direction of travel.

In the thick fog, the occasional mournful cry of an owl could be heard. As Yang Ping'an ventured deeper into the forest, he discovered that his magical power was circulating at twice its usual speed. With increasingly clear perception, this speed of magical power circulation was further increasing.

Sure enough, the mysterious treasure had the function of accelerating cultivation speed. Just getting close to it was so effective. If he obtained it, he wondered how much his cultivation efficiency would increase. Yang Ping'an became excited.

Perhaps because the distance between Yang Ping'an and the unknown treasure was getting closer, Yang Ping'an's spiritual sense domain was also forced to compress to a range of nine meters.

Suddenly, Yang Ping'an stopped in his tracks. A continuous series of cracking and rumbling sounds came from ahead. The sounds were chaotic and persistent, as if some enormous creature was descending from the valley and making intimate contact with the forest, producing the sounds of breaking branches and crushing leaves.

Yang Ping'an spread his divine sense and saw the shadowy figures hidden in the thick fog, all fleeing in a sorry state under the drive of a huge, long, monstrous creature. Various animals and monsters mixed together and ran frantically in the opposite direction of the sound, forming a tide of beasts.

Yang Ping'an was directly in front of the beast tide and dared not stay still. He quickly ran towards the valley diagonally above. The valley was just ahead, and with a mighty leap, he jumped onto it.

"Hiss~ You bunch of trash, get moving! If you can't find that shameless worm, I'll eat you all!" "I'm going to swallow that despicable, shameless multi-legged worm!" Yang Ping'an hid on the side of the beast horde and heard the snake demon hissing.

Yang Ping'an recalled the information he had previously gathered: there were three demon kings in the Beech Forest—a snake demon, a centipede monster, and a spider demon. Of these three demon kings, the spider demon was severely injured, and judging from its size, it was clearly not him. The centipede monster had a thousand hands and feet, and the outline he saw with his divine sense was rounded and without any breaks, so this monster was also not the centipede monster. Combining this with the words of the monster he had just encountered, the long, thin monster in front of him was the snake demon, one of the three demon kings.

Although the details of the battle between the three demon kings were unknown from the snake demon's words, it was certain that the centipede monster emerged victorious and obtained the magical treasure.

"Roar~" "Yes, Your Majesty" "Awooo~"... The roars of various animals and demons rose and fell, never ceasing. The thunderous roar of beasts running echoed throughout the valley.

Yang Ping'an held his breath and concealed his aura. The snake demon slithered past Yang Ping'an, and a broken tree nearly hit him. Only after the snake demon passed in front of him did he observe its full appearance through his divine sense.

The snake demon was about twenty meters long, with shiny black scales and deep red markings. It had a black fleshy crown on its head, about thirty centimeters in size.

This was the first time in Yang Ping'an's two lifetimes that he had ever seen such a huge creature. Although this snake demon was not as huge as he had heard, its twenty-meter length and the thickness of a water vat were not something Yang Ping'an should underestimate.

Judging from the snake demon's size, it's clear that the information Yang Ping'an collected was somewhat distorted. The information may have been distorted and misrepresented during its transmission, leading to speculation about the three demon kings. Therefore, it cannot be entirely trusted.

Yang Ping'an followed closely behind the snake demon, walking on the path it had trodden. With the snake demon leading the way, Yang Ping'an's journey was greatly accelerated. A mysterious thick fog obscured the view from the forest; the snake demon had passed right in front of Yang Ping'an before without noticing him, so Yang Ping'an wasn't worried about being discovered.

The beast horde was unaware of the centipede monster's location. If the treasure was indeed in the centipede monster's possession, the horde was heading in the wrong direction. Seeing the horde about to miss the centipede monster, Yang Ping'an grew anxious.

Looking at the gleaming sword in his hand, a plan formed in his mind. Yang Ping'an maintained a spiritual domain spanning several hundred meters, controlling the sword to bypass the trees and fly to the edge of the domain. In the direction he sensed, he activated a sword incantation with his fingers, and a burst of spiritual energy blasted out with the sword's light.

The spiritual energy obscured the sword's gleam, and the deafening explosion attracted the beast horde.

"Hiss~ Hiss~, it's over there, that despicable worm is over there!" "Go after it for me!" The snake demon heard the roar and its anger clouded its judgment. Without thinking, it assumed that the centipede monster was over there.

In the snake spirit's mind, only she and the centipede monster in the Beech Forest could unleash such tremendous power. Since it wasn't her own attack, it must have been that despicable multi-legged insect.

"Roar!" "Charge!" "Awooo!" Numerous demons mingled with the beast horde and charged forward. They only cared about the snake demons behind them. With the limited brain capacity of these demons, they didn't even consider that the Demon King's enemy would be an ordinary monster.
