Chapter 23 Encounter

Chapter 23 Encounter

Standing there, Adir thought quietly for a long time.

After a while, unable to think of anything, he simply stopped thinking about it and walked straight to the front, ready to thoroughly search the room.

The room looked like it hadn't been used in a long time; the floor was covered in dust, and it appeared to have been vacant for several years.

Here, Adir found some bookshelves filled with many books, as well as labels written in an unknown script.

He casually picked up a book, brushed off the dust, and opened it directly.

"Chip, establish a mission, analyze the world's script," he commanded the chip in his mind.

"Ding! Mission 1 has been created." A mechanical voice sounded.

As Adir rapidly flipped through the books in his hands, the chip in his mind quickly scanned the contents of these books, recording all the text content into a database for analysis and comparison.

Through extensive text comparison and paragraph analysis, and with the computing power of the chip, as long as there is enough data, it will eventually be possible to gradually deduce the textual content of this world.

This place appears to have once been a library.

Adir stayed there for a long time before leaving.

"The estimated time required to complete Task 1 is 37 days and 8 hours..." After the data was recorded, the chip's notification sounded, accompanied by a countdown.

"Thirty-seven days seems to be out of the question for now."

Upon hearing the chip's prompt, Adir frowned, thinking to himself.

However, he didn't care too much about it. After shaking his head, he went straight up to the second floor.

Compared to the corpses scattered all over the first floor, the second floor was much cleaner. Although there were still corpses, there were far fewer of them.

There were many rooms here as well. Adir walked forward and carefully opened one of the rooms.

The room was quiet, but instead of books, it contained various medicine-like items.

A strange smell wafted from inside, startling Adir.

He went inside and saw a severed arm that was already turning white on a shelf.

The severed arm didn't look very big; it appeared to be the forearm of a young woman, neatly cut off by something. It seemed to have been cleaned; there wasn't a trace of blood, just a whitish tinge.

Most importantly, the severed arm is very fresh.

"The interruption lasted only about three or four days."

Looking at the pale forearm, Adir calmly analyzed the situation.

He looked at the various medicine-like items in the room, lost in thought.

This room was likely used to store medical supplies. Someone had been here a few days ago and left the severed arm in this spot.

However, this also indicates that there are survivors in the vicinity, and they should not be too far away.

With that in mind, Adir looked at the other rooms and prepared to check them one by one to see if he could find anything extra.

He opened several rooms and made some new discoveries.

In these rooms, there were some small insects. Adir tried to kill these creatures, but he was unable to gain the power he had before. Under the constant monitoring of the chip, his body did not change at all.

This situation raised a question in his mind: "Does one have to kill specific life forms to obtain that power again?"

With this question in mind, he walked to the door of the next room.

It was a large gate made of steel, secured with several locks, which seemed unusual, as if someone was afraid that something inside might escape.

There are many raised marks on the door, making it look quite messy, as if something had hit it from inside the room, causing the steel door to look like this.

Standing quietly at the doorway, looking at the marks on the door, Adir instinctively sensed that something was wrong.

A deep, eerie atmosphere emanated from within, and a sense of danger instinctively arose within me.

After taking a deep look around, Adir did not choose to open the door, nor did he go to the next room; he simply left.

There are unknown dangers in this place, and there is no trace of survivors living here.

He left without hesitation, looked up at the sky, and saw that it was much darker than before.

It was almost nightfall when Adir looked into the distance and clearly sensed that the surrounding area was becoming more active.

The surroundings were no longer quiet; occasionally, the chirping of insects and a low, terrifying howl could be heard.

This place seems to have suddenly become dangerous, and it may become more and more terrifying as time goes on.

Thinking of this, Adir stopped in his tracks, which was about to leave.

As night approaches, the area is clearly becoming more dangerous, and leaving may not be a good option.

With that thought in mind, he left his spot and went to a room that looked fairly sturdy, intending to spend the night there.

He closed the steel gate, weighed it down with some heavy objects, and then sat quietly in a corner, making no further noise.

The world at night is very different from the world during the day.

Through his keen senses, Adir could clearly hear sounds coming from afar, including terrifying insect chirps and low growls like those of wild beasts, all of which echoed continuously in the outside world.

Adir could imagine the scene outside at this moment, which was definitely much more dangerous than during the day.

Suddenly, he opened his eyes and stood up from the corner.

In the distance, a woman's wailing suddenly came, accompanied by faint footsteps.

"Someone's nearby!" This thought flashed through Adir's mind, and he slowly placed his right hand on the longsword at his waist.

He hesitated for a moment, but finally pushed the door open and walked out of the room.

It was already quite dark, but a sliver of light was still rising, enough to make it clear to the naked eye.

In the distance, three figures were running rapidly towards them, seemingly being chased by something.

"Run!!!" A strange shout came from afar.

The three people running from a distance looked ahead and saw the figure in front of the building. They were startled at first, but breathed a sigh of relief after seeing Adir's appearance clearly. They then shouted at the other person.

Their intention was to remind the other party, but in the end, it was all in vain.

Adir couldn't understand the language of this world at all, nor could he understand what they were shouting.

However, judging from their flustered appearance, he could roughly guess what they meant.

He did not choose to flee, but silently drew his longsword with his right hand, his deep eyes intently watching something in the distance behind him.

It was a huge insect-like beast, resembling a beetle with a black carapace, but its claws and mandibles were terrifying enough to chill one's heart.
