Chapter 25 Night

Chapter 25 Night

Inside the quiet building, upon seeing Adir's appearance, the three exchanged glances and simultaneously breathed a sigh of relief.

It must be said that Adir's appearance is very deceptive and approachable. Even though they knew that the person in front of them had the power to fight against terrifying insect beasts, their original unease and tension were greatly reduced.

One of the middle-aged men, who appeared to be the oldest, stepped forward and respectfully said to Adir, "Hello! We are from around here. May I ask who you are?"

He asked cautiously, being very careful, afraid of offending the boy in front of him.

While he was speaking, the other two remained silent, simply watching Adir in front of them with a hint of expectation in their eyes.

Since the apocalypse, all sorts of monsters have emerged, causing heavy losses to the inhabitants of the various kingdoms.

And so far, they have only seen one powerful warrior like Adir who can fight such a terrifying monster with his bare hands.

If you can get in touch with the other party and build a good relationship, things will definitely be much easier in the future.

Listening to their words and seeing their surprised looks, Adir did not reply, but simply shook his head.

He couldn't understand a word the other person was saying.

The biggest problem is the language barrier, and it can't be hidden.

Seeing the puzzled and nervous expressions on the faces of the three people opposite him, Adir made no attempt to hide his feelings and spoke a few words directly.

Upon hearing the unusual language, the other person immediately understood the reason and showed a look of surprise.

"This isn't the local language. Are they from another kingdom?" the middle-aged man who had spoken earlier asked in surprise.

"They could be students sent here to study three years ago."

Standing there, a thin young man behind me spoke with some surprise: "I remember three years ago a group of noble descendants from foreign kingdoms came here to study. This might be one of them."

"This child must be a powerful knight. I've heard that there's a powerful knightly order in the distant Kingdom of Alidu, and they sent quite a few people here three years ago as well."

Among the three, another woman spoke up, a glint of shrewdness flashing in her eyes as she looked at Adir.

"So-called knights can't even withstand a musket, let alone fight insect beasts head-on."

The young man beside him shook his head and said this.

"Stop talking!" A soft reprimand came from ahead.

The middle-aged man who had been talking to Adir earlier saw the two people whispering behind him and quickly glared at them.

As the oldest person here, he has far more experience than the two behind him and understands perfectly what needs to be done now.

That child on the other side possesses terrifying combat power, and his past identity must have been extremely remarkable. He might not be able to tolerate their actions.

Moreover, when they speak different languages, their whispering only increases the other party's vigilance.

Thinking of this, the middle-aged man slowly stepped back, pulled out a dagger from his pocket without hesitation, knelt down on one knee, and placed the dagger in front of Adir.

Adir was somewhat surprised by the other party's actions.

The other person's actions resembled some kind of etiquette in this world, and the meaning they were trying to convey was quite clear.

Kneeling on one knee and handing over one's weapons, regardless of the world, expresses respect and submission, signifying one's harmlessness.

Thinking of this, Adir couldn't help but feel a little appreciative. He slowly reached out with his left hand, picked up the dagger that the other party had offered, and placed it on his waist.

This action seemed to signify something, and the three people opposite him breathed a sigh of relief the moment they saw Adir catch the dagger.

The scene fell silent for a moment. The group stood there for a long time, and only began to move when it was completely dark outside.

"It's already night outside, should we continue up?"

Among the three, the young man broke the silence and spoke in a low voice.

"We can't go any further." The middle-aged man shook his head. "There's a room up there where some kind of monster is supposedly imprisoned. If we go up together, something strange will likely happen at night."

"This building has the aura of that monster. Ordinary monsters wouldn't dare come here. We'll stay here for one night and leave tomorrow."

Upon hearing this, the other two nodded silently, offering no further comment.

For some unknown reason, the middle-aged man sighed silently, and when he turned to look at the stairs in the distance, a hint of fear flashed in his eyes.

While they were talking, Adir quietly walked to a corner and closed his eyes to rest.

In his mind, the chip was rapidly analyzing the language of the three people opposite him.

However, because they had only just begun to explore this area and there was very little basic data, even if Adir allocated all of the chip's computing power to this task, it would still be a long time before the analysis was completed.

After a while, under Adir's gaze, the middle-aged man opposite him slowly walked towards him, holding a small piece of dried meat in his hand.

The other party deliberately stopped a little distance away from Adir.

The choice of this distance is also subtle; it's not so close as to arouse suspicion, but it also gives Adir enough time to easily draw his longsword.

Standing there, the other person first carefully tore off a piece of meat and put it in their mouth before presenting the dried meat in their hand to Adir.

Seeing this, Adir nodded slightly, made no extra movements, and directly took the thing from the other person's hand.

"The target food is non-toxic and edible," a mechanical voice prompted Adir in his mind.

Adir then began to eat the piece of meat in his hand without hesitation.

···········

Time passed slowly, and as the night grew more than halfway through, a unique sensation awakened Adir.

"Unknown force field detected!" A mechanical voice kept ringing in his mind.

This was a pre-programmed procedure that would immediately wake him up if anything unusual happened around him.

During one night, Adir was awakened several times, each time narrowly escaping unscathed.

But this time, things seem to be different.

Adir quietly stood up and silently drew the longsword from his waist with his right hand.

He walked quietly to the door and looked outside through the crack in it.

A dim light quietly appeared on the other side of the door, surrounded by boundless darkness.

Before Adir could react to what was happening, a sudden, inexplicable feeling of unease washed over him.

"What...what kind of eyes are these?"

The thought flashed through his mind, and he stared calmly at the door, peering out through the crack.

There, those eerie eyes still remained, flashing with hatred and madness.
