Chapter 1157 Fully Prepared
Chapter 1157 Fully Prepared (Second Update)
"Your sudden visit startled her, because just half an hour ago she was asking about your relationship with your two girlfriends." Cassirios gripped the steering wheel, driving along the winding road through the verdant mountain valley. White streams clung to the black mountains, meandering alongside the road at their foot. Patches of green grass grew on the soil-covered slopes, and occasionally, glimpses of snow-capped peaks could be seen. Cassirios casually joked with the man in the passenger seat, "Don't make me explain your womanizing ways, kid, and don't bring any other girls along. Two witches are trouble enough; if you have any more girlfriends, I don't know how I'm going to explain it!"
"Couldn't you just fabricate a fake memory for her? I don't think she wouldn't guess the truth; she's not as oblivious as you." Salomon reached out and scratched at the shirt under his wool vest, his expression somewhat impatient. This outfit was a preppy look he'd deliberately chosen to avoid scaring the woman, but this time the wool vest was making him itch. Now he was starting to regret not wearing a suit; it would be a good opportunity to update his character profile.
"I know this is a bad thing to do, but if you don't, you'll have to be prepared to tell her about Kamar-Taj. Doing so could very well damage the relationship, and you'll end up having to use magic to create false memories. Unless you want to gamble on that possibility, I suggest you choose the former."
"Relax, don't treat everything like official business, or you'll lose the joy of life," Kasirius rolled his eyes. Kasirius had already stated the purpose of his trip on the phone—Frigga had called him to tell him Odin's situation was dire. The Venerable One, after receiving the call (or perhaps through other means), also learned of this and ordered Kasirius to take Salomon to the cabin to gather information, and then decide whether to activate the emergency plan.
"First the shooting, then the war on terror, I'm not even sure if I need to go to Latvia to find you."
"I'm not stupid enough to forget what the real threat is, Dad." Salomon visibly calmed down after scratching himself, but the height of the car still made him somewhat uncomfortable; after all, a two-meter-tall person riding in equipment designed for ordinary people would definitely encounter problems. Kasirius couldn't read his expression. When Salomon learned of this terrible news, he almost instinctively sent the emergency plan to all military operations and logistics departments in Latvinia, especially the Fire Knights who had recently gone to Wakanda to participate in the civil war.
Last time, less than half of these genetically modified warriors were assembled. This time, the emergency plan requires all the Fire Knights to return to the royal city after completing their mission to prepare their weapons, train new recruits, and await new orders. At the same time, a group of assassins stored in cryogenic chambers were extracted and placed under the command of Regent Victor von Doom.
The Emperor immediately informed the Regent, who, as well as the Regent, understood the implications of this news. Therefore, the Regent ordered the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of the Military to cooperate fully with all of the Emperor's mobilization efforts. They had to remove the spy and the equipment and technology he had stolen from the very foundation of Asgard intact. This was humanity's only chance to acquire this technology, and the spy who had been sent to Asgard long ago was the most likely candidate to obtain it.
There are many legends surrounding the origin of the Rainbow Bridge. In Asgardian folklore, there's a more romantic version, a story Frigga once told Salomon. Regardless of its origin, the Rainbow Bridge, as a stable hyperspace floating in an outer dimension, is like grease floating on water. Faster-than-light travel via the Rainbow Bridge completely avoids interference from extradimensional beings and tides. The Asgardian Empire's power was built upon this stable transportation system. If humanity possessed such technology, they would undoubtedly be able to create a civilization far more powerful than Asgard's in the future.
Based on preliminary intelligence, a lone spy couldn't possibly transport the massive equipment and numerous technical documents directly from Asgard back to Earth; it would require cranes and a large workforce. Considering the potential chaos in Asgard at that time, fully armed genetically modified warriors could buy enough time, and the advanced technological sages from Mars could ensure the integrity of the documents and equipment. This was a mission that couldn't fail; success was imperative, regardless of the cost. Almost all of Latvinia's unconventional military forces would participate in this mission as leverage to seize humanity's future.
Kamar-Taj will also be involved, providing behind-the-scenes technical and transportation support. This is a unilateral decision by the Sorcerer Supreme, and even high-ranking deacons like the Sorcerer Hamil are unaware of the plan. If Salomon sends back news that Odin's "situation is not optimistic," the Sorcerer Supreme will activate contingency plans and organize exercises to assist Salomon in leading his legion to Asgard.
Although Salomon, sitting in the passenger seat, remained expressionless, his emotions grew increasingly tense as time passed. Kasirius didn't observe with his naked eye; as a skilled arcane mage, observing the Aetherial Realm using his second vision was as easy as drinking water for him. Therefore, he easily detected the tension beneath Salomon's well-hidden emotions. He knew Salomon had visited him many times since Odin's arrival on Earth, and thus couldn't understand why Salomon was acting as if he were about to fight to the death this time.
"The witch told the Venerable One that you dressed up as a stripper for them, shirtless," Cassirios tried to ease Salomon's tension. This was a true story; at the witch's insistence, Salomon wore only an easily opened detachable collar and tie, with fake sleeves on his wrists—a perfectly standard stripper's muscular gigolo outfit. "While I can use magic to perform tricks for my girlfriend, I certainly don't have the confidence to dance a striptease for her."
"There's an interplanetary missile currently locked onto its target on the orbital platform. If anything goes wrong, it will drop a high-explosive, split-throwing thermobaric bomb, vaporizing the cabin and everything nearby." Salomon didn't respond directly, instead detailing his preparations, which sent a chill down Kasiris's spine—ever since Salomon was allowed to develop external influences, he'd increasingly preferred using his own forces to solve problems. He glanced up through the windshield. "Don't tell me there's another plane following us," he said gravely. "We represent Kamar-Taj now, not the Immortal City. It would be disastrous if the Asgardians perceived us as hostile."
"In low orbit, invisible from here, we have six combat droids and one Royal Guard as a secondary threat response. The Pegasus Assault Transport also possesses extremely powerful firepower, capable of clearing the landing platform to drop off soldiers or covering our evacuation. If anything unexpected happens, we'll need the firepower of those combat droids." Salomon shrugged, confirming Kasirius's guess. The presence of missiles and gunships seemed to calm his emotions, and Salomon spoke much faster. "This is Earth, not Asgard. Since the Aesir consider themselves superior to humans, they have no right to stay on Earth, which belongs to humanity. The logic is simple: only when humanity respects itself and demonstrates sufficient power will aliens respect humanity."
"Combat robots? You mean the kind you keep in the library?"
“Exactly the same. The intelligent brain-like core allows us to use spells to infiltrate and manipulate things manually,” Salomon said. “If something unexpected happens, I’ll need you to command those combat robots.”
"Are you kidding me?" Kasirios drove onto a side road. "I've never learned how to use those robots, and I don't think we need to take any hostile actions."
"If Odin wants to kill me, I must fight back by any means necessary. Although the possibility is small, it is not entirely impossible. No one knows what Odin is thinking." Salomon's tone was as heavy as that of someone facing death. "It is very likely that we will be facing a god-king who is going all out. If something unexpected happens, we must stall until the Venerable One arrives."
