Chapter 1229 The Kukulkan Order

Chapter 1229 The Kukulkan Order (Second Update)

Expressing the ability and willingness to cause harm is a necessary stance to be displayed in the early stages of negotiations.

Onuratu tightened her lips, staring intently at the giant before her. She sensed the Guard's ability and will to harm, and she knew she had no choice. "I've heard about the disaster happening in the outside world, and I will help you solve this problem." She handed the boy in her arms to the warrior behind her. "But I have one condition."

Supiluliumas nodded. "Within my authority, I can grant your request."

"I know you have the ability to wipe out the cult, but you must hand over the cult leader to me. He is one of our men and must be punished according to our laws." No sooner had Onuratu finished speaking than Camilla, standing behind Supiluliumas, couldn't help but step forward and gently pat the guard's arm armor. Supiluliumas pointed to his helmet, and Camilla then turned on her communicator, covering her lips and speaking in a voice inaudible to the others.

"Show her," Supiluliumas said. Upon receiving the order, Camilla beckoned Laura Crawford to hand her the digital camera, then pulled up a photo from the memory card and showed it to Onuratu. "Is this the leader of the cult you mentioned?"

"Amaru...yes, it's him." Onuratu's eyes widened in surprise. "You caught him?"

"Not anymore." Camilla pointed to the communicator. After reaching the open area, the radio signal, which had been blocked by the rock formations, was finally restored, but the news reported by the sniper and the Martian technician was not encouraging. "The armored vehicle we used to hold him was destroyed by Trinity's helicopters and missiles. But I don't believe he's really dead. After all, this guy still holds a certain position within Trinity."

"To us, his name is Pedro Domiggs," Laura Crawford said eagerly. "He said he's from a local indigenous tribe. Can you tell us about him?"

“Pedro Domiggs… I can tell you his story.” Onuratu turned to look at the tribal warriors. “It’s a long story. Although you can kill all the Order’s soldiers, this isn’t a safe place to tell a story. Come with me, and if you swear not to use weapons in our territory, I will take you to the stronghold and tell you the story.”

As Onuratu said, it is a rather long story.

Since the arrival of European colonists, missionary activities have never ceased. Catholicism replaced the South American gods, who required bloody priests, and became the most prosperous religion on this land. Paititi, the region mentioned by Onuratu, was no exception. Missionaries attempted to change the local faith, but all attempts failed. This situation only changed with the arrival of numerous missionaries from the Holy Trinity Order, who established a stronghold called the Church of San Juan. Not all the indigenous people of Paititi were burdened with a mission; some succumbed to the resources and wealth offered by the outside world and began to turn to the church. Furthermore, the Church of San Juan, by combining ancient beliefs with a new mythology, dissolved the indigenous people's resistance to foreign ideas, allowing the Holy Trinity Order to take root and preach there.

“The Kukulkan Order, that’s their name,” Onuratu said. “Amaru… the Pedro Domiguez you’re talking about is the boy the Church of San Juan took away. At first, he would return to Paititi every year, but things changed after he took over the Kukulkan Order established by the white people.”

Calling this a stronghold is an exaggeration. This hemispherical hall on the cliff is the residence and meeting hall built by Onuratu and her warriors, from which one can see the lush forest outside. Supiluliumas only glanced at it and found many defensive loopholes. Even though Onuratu's warriors did their best to set up sentries to protect this place, with their abilities and patrol density, they could not protect anything at all.

"What changed?" Laura Crawford asked.

"He changed the way he preached," Onuratu said with resentment. "He started to become aggressive, started to become...short-sighted. Our tribe's mission was to appease the awakened Kukulkan and let it remain asleep, but Amaru didn't think that way. He wanted to awaken Kukulkan to change the world. He said he could use Kukulkan's power to build a new world, completely erasing the colonists from this world and leaving only Paititi. This idea gained the support of many Paititi people, so he became the leader of Paititi."

"You have been dethroned," Amon said bluntly.

He found this phenomenon very interesting, strikingly similar to Aristotle's *Politics* and the death of Socrates in the ancient Greek political history materials he studied in the library. He began to dismantle Paititi's socio-political system from the perspectives of social productivity and religious influence, and then discovered a strange problem. Paititi's tribal chieftain system should not have given rise to a democratic system, yet Onuratu was dethroned, which meant that Pedro Domigus's religious democratic autocracy was superior in its mobilization capabilities.

"That's right." Onuratu heard the mockery in Amon's voice and secretly rolled her eyes. She was clearly unaware that the Royal Guard had thought of so much in such a short time, accurately identifying the root cause of Pedro Domigus's overthrow of the Paititi throne. "Amaru and his cult are now leading Paititi towards the abyss of destruction. Like you, we must also prevent Kukulkan from being awakened; Amaru must face judgment."

“That’s acceptable,” Supilulius said. “But we still have some questions for him to answer before he dies.”

"So who are these people?" Laura Crawford showed Onuratu a photograph—the corpses of the indigenous people who had killed the Trinity soldiers in the cave. Laura glanced at the attire of the warriors beside Onuratu. "These shouldn't be your people, right?"

"This is the Yaksos." Onuratu suddenly became somewhat nervous. She whispered to the warrior beside her in the local language for a while, then nodded and told Laura Crawford the truth. "The Yaksos are mysterious creatures. Perhaps our ancestors knew the origins of these creatures, but we have forgotten too much. The Yaksos have always only lingered around Paititi and have never invaded. I don't know why they would attack the Order's soldiers."

"It seems there are still many problems we need to solve," Supiluliumas instructed Amon.

Less than a minute later, a violent gust of wind and a deafening roar echoed above the cliff. Two small gunboats gracefully passed through the dense forest in front of the hemispherical hall, hovering over the cliff face, just a large step away from stepping aboard. But two gunboats were too crowded for the hall; the immense noise and the gusts of wind instantly extinguished the torches lit within, and the sunlight was completely blocked by the massive mechanical structures and armor plating.

"Lady Crawford, Amon will accompany you to explore the secrets of the Kukulkan Order and find the Silver Box." Supiluliumas extended his hand, inviting the former queen of Paititi. "Onuratu, gather your soldiers. I will join the battle with Camilla's squad to completely annihilate the Kukulkan Order."

"Now?" Onuratu's mouth dropped open. "They have many muskets, while we only have bows and arrows."

"Now you have even more," Supiluliumas said. "I will give you weapons that even monkeys can learn to use. Even if you have never been exposed to modern weapons, you can use them to kill the Holy Trinity."
