Chapter 1281 Monster-like Gods
Chapter 1281 A Monster-like Deity (First Update)
True gods are all monsters; this was the first lesson the emperor learned when studying the nature of the outer dimensions.
The Earth pantheons like Olympus and Asgard are merely material universe beings that degenerated after extradimensional forces entered the material universe. Although they possess immense power, they are not true gods. True gods do not shed tears or possess humanity, because they are gods, and humans are merely ants at their feet. However, humans do not demand ants offer their eggs as proof of faith, nor do they light a twig, shout at an anthill, or write ant writing on a stone to force the ant colony to obey rules set by humans.
However, attempting to fathom the spiritual entities of other dimensions using human logic ultimately leads to utter madness. This is because deities are monsters hidden behind the veil of reality, nightmares lurking under the bed at night, and recurring themes in countless myths. Humans cannot comprehend their thoughts. Just as humans cannot imagine that every flash of light in a nebula composed of cosmic dust, hydrogen, helium, and other plasmas represents a neuronal signal generated during the universe's contemplation, humans cannot comprehend the eternal war waged by the most powerful spiritual entities in other dimensions, nor can they comprehend the crucial role the material universe plays as both a bargaining chip and a battlefield in this war.
To gain the leverage to win the eternal war in the material universe, they need the beings of the material universe to offer their souls and emotions to fill their increasingly obese bodies and the chessboard of their games. Just as a massive ant colony offers food to its queen day after day, they need the beings of the material universe to offer everything, even just a few ant eggs. They choose to develop cults, giving believers incantations and miracles, using faith as fuel to drive spiritual entities to don the skins of victims and carry out inhuman rules and warfare in the material universe.
The Triune Vishanti is one of the monsters, and He is also the initiator of the Eternal War.
The first Sorcerer Supreme, Agamotto, suffered a tragic defeat. He abandoned his past ideals and humanity, choosing, like his mother and Gaia's descendant Oshtu, to become a completely extradimensional being. Dormammu, the extradimensional spiritual entity occupying the Dark Dimension, is not fundamentally different from the Vishanti; both are beings who have abandoned their physical bodies.
In the eyes of the Vishanti, humanity was merely a flock of sheep under Kamar-Taj's control, a bargaining chip for Mother Earth. The First Sorcerer Supreme, even as a human, knew the nature of the Mother who gave birth to his soul and other extradimensional spiritual entities. Therefore, he instructed the first Kamar-Taj disciples, then under the leadership of Oshtu, to always be vigilant against extradimensional temptations and guard against any spiritual entity's allure. Even though the First Sorcerer Supreme ultimately failed, it didn't mean that each subsequent Sorcerer Supreme who inherited this ideal had to choose to abandon it or succumb to despair. Even if upholding this ideal meant opposing the sect's leader, Kamar-Taj continued to exist and fulfill its duties. This is why the Emperor believed humanity was far nobler than those greedy monsters, providing a basis for his transhumanist ideology.
Historically, all cases of utilizing outer-dimensional power demonstrate that users of outer-dimensional energy should only dabble in it, guiding it into the material universe and shaping it into their desired outcomes, rather than succumbing to the allure of power and knowledge and diving headfirst into the outer dimensions. Over the long course of history, every systematic organization has found its own methods to resist the corruption of the outer dimensions.
Kamar-Taj advocates restraint and asceticism. Even though the mystics primarily wield power from Vishanti, they still maintain maximum freedom in their contracts and rituals, keeping a distant relationship with several overlords to avoid influencing the spellcasters' minds and actions. The Allfather of the Asgardian pantheon, having seen reality, chose to promote Asgardian culture by imitating the gods, collecting the souls of warriors for final preparations, intending to fight to the death in Ragnarok. The Olympian God-King chose to live in seclusion in a pocket dimension, eking out a living and indulging in pleasure in the gap between the material universe and outer dimensions, while sending out the rebellious and wise goddess of war to find a solution.
"Gods are monsters. To be precise, they are extradimensional spiritual entities, so don't have too many expectations of the so-called Blood Moon Goddess," Superuliumas warned Laura Crawford as he stepped onto the igneous rock-covered steps. Behind the female archaeologist, Queen Chakcher of the Yasok clan, a Scarlet Cult priestess, chattered incessantly as she surveyed the surrounding ruins. A support squad of genetically modified warriors, led by Superuliumas, vigilantly watched their surroundings, ready to attack at any moment—these knights were guarding against not only the extradimensional serpent-men summoned to the material universe, but also other things. "Don't have any illusions about witchcraft, madam," the guard said. "You witnessed the meeting at the Temple of Vatum; you should understand what our Lord has done."
“This is just a ruin, Supilulius.” Laura Crawford, though somewhat worried about encountering witchcraft within the ruins, forced herself to focus on the surrounding reliefs and the silver stone door she was about to see. “Besides, I don’t think any enemy could be a match for you.”
“In the material universe, yes. But extradimensional beings don’t follow the rules.” The Royal Guard stopped before the checkpoint and entered his genetic code for authentication. The others behind him followed suit, even Queen Yasok, at Laura Crawford’s urging, placed her hand on the “glowing stone.” This checkpoint was jointly set up by the Martian foundry technicians and the First Secret Service. Besides the standard external firing platforms, most of the firing platforms were pointed inwards. “This is to prevent anything from escaping from inside,” the Royal Guard explained. “What’s inside the silver stone door might be more troublesome than the snake-men outside.”
Laura Crawford looked up in astonishment at the towering stone gate in the giant cave.
Dozens of drones flew slowly through the space, carefully scanning every relief mural and sculpture with lights and scanning equipment. Especially noteworthy was the silver stone door, tens of meters high, embedded in the rock wall, its magnificent relief depicting the experiences of the Blood Moon Goddess inlaid with precious metals and gemstones. Beside the stone door, a group of mysterious-looking individuals were setting up some equipment Laura Crawford had never seen before, pointing at waveforms on the screen and whispering amongst themselves.
"What are those people doing?" she finally couldn't contain her curiosity and pointed at the group, asking, "I heard you guys tried some kind of explosion?"
“Yes, we initially thought there was a cave behind the stone door,” Superuliumas shrugged. “But thermal bombs, plasma bombs, and hard rock tunneling machines all failed to destroy the stone door. The arcane mages of Kamar-Taj and the sages of the Martian foundry all concluded that the stone door was protected by supernatural forces and could not be directly blown up. We used technical means to determine what was behind the stone door, but… all technical means determined that there was no space behind the stone door. Chemical analysis of samples drilled from the rock wall next to the stone door also proved that there were no conditions for the formation of a cave.”
"How bizarre!" Laura Crawford exclaimed. She then heard Queen Yasok's angry voice as the genetically modified warriors blocked her path. "What are you trying to do?" the archaeologist hurried over, gesturing wildly. "Do you know what this is?"
Queen Yasok nodded, then angrily brandished her spear at the knights blocking her path to the stone gate.
"Perhaps we should listen to her opinion," Laura Crawford said, glancing at the Imperial Guard. "It's much better than us blindly studying this here."
