Chapter 1491 The Lunar War
Chapter 1491 The Lunar War (Part 3)
The Yugoslav Federal Nuclear Power Plant only needed one to supply the industrial and daily life needs of the entire Balkan Peninsula. Its standard output power, in the trillion-watt range, was equivalent to the output power of more than 500 of the world's largest nuclear reactors, and was comparable to the nuclear reactors installed on bombing satellites. Since the purpose of these industrial laser bombing satellites was to heat the Martian polar ice caps and convert them into an atmosphere, they often carried multiple nuclear reactors. When the void outside the aircraft carrier was illuminated by several ruby-colored particle beams, its technological might was displayed in its most direct way—although the distance was vast, the entire bridge was still illuminated by this brilliant light. For a fleeting moment, the blinding red light overwhelmed all the lighting facilities inside the bridge, but the armored portholes, which automatically adjusted their brightness, filtered out this long-wave radiation, restoring the bridge to its original brightness.
The emperor stood before the captain's throne on the bridge, one hand resting on the railing.
Beside her was the Sky Carrier's information integration and processing system. A dense cascade of numbers—from various external sensor data, early warning drone data, and satellite reconnaissance data—poured across the black screens like a waterfall. Only a few screens displayed images showing the location of the laser bombing 200 kilometers away. Tita stood at the center, surrounded by these screens, issuing commands with superhuman speed. "Laser bombing time remaining: 2 minutes and 41 seconds. The Void Bombers have left the hangar. Squadrons 104 and 103 will carry out the bombing mission," Tita reported to her master. Martian technicians, using data such as the light reflectivity of the Attilan base, deduced the principles and resilience of its shield force field technology. The staff's actuaries and computers evaluated the ammunition usage, arriving at an extremely precise explosive yield. "The shuttles are deploying. The fire support positions will complete the first phase of deployment in approximately twenty minutes, and the first phase of deployment for the second battle group will also conclude simultaneously. Report complete."
Not all troops will be airdropped to the ground to fight.
The First Combat Group, composed entirely of one thousand genetically modified warriors from the First Legion, will board Attilan directly in assault boats to seize control of key facilities at the Attilan base. The Second and Third Combat Groups are mixed forces comprised of genetically modified warriors and other troops. These two groups will enter the Attilan base from the outside via armored vehicles and airborne assaults, respectively, to counter-encircle the Inhuman forces attempting to attack the First Combat Group. Therefore, these two combat groups will deploy a large number of armored vehicles, assault tanks, self-propelled artillery, and numerous heavy infantry weapons.
The commander of the second and third battle groups is Colonel Malcolm, who is currently aboard a sky battleship. That ship carries a weapon similar to those on bombardment satellites, but with far greater input power; it was once used to cut through the colossal carcass of the Kobo Belt, stretching over twenty kilometers. Colonel Malcolm will be the key player in a certain battle plan; if the Emperor doesn't acquire Attiland, then Attiland will cease to exist.
The emperor smiled and nodded in approval.
Once the orbital bombardment satellite successfully breaches the energy shield of the Attiland base, artillery deployed on the lunar surface will circle the Attiland lunar base, striking from all directions. The main attack direction, namely the base of the lunar craters, will see two self-propelled super-heavy artillery pieces known as "Gustav" deployed to destroy the craters and create several attack tunnels. The attack positions of all artillery, bombardment drones, orbital missiles, and Mars war engines have been repeatedly simulated and discussed; all attack plans are flawless, and the attack and fire tunnels will be the shortest routes to important facilities and nodes within Attiland. Through the bridge windows, one can even see the missile exhaust plumes, like meteors, falling onto the lunar surface from the rear of the formation, the thermonuclear warheads exploding in a dazzling display of light on the shield, which resembles ripples on water.
The dark side of the moon, which was originally unrelated, now shines as brightly as a star.
"Alcohol is prohibited on the Sky Carrier, but would you like to share a glass of soda with me, Ms. Tita?"
“I still have some ice cream in my personal fridge,” Tita said, blushing slightly. It was no secret that the girls loved ice cream; at the Immortal City Academy, those selected by the sorority always received an extra portion of super-high-calorie frozen treats. “But since you only want soda…” she stammered, her eyes widening as she saw the bottle in Diana’s hand. Long before Diana boarded the ship, the First Maid, the First Homunculus, had already prepared all the food and supplies the Emperor needed. She awkwardly tiptoed, trying to change the subject. “I heard you’ll be leading the First Combat Group into the front lines? I’ve already prepared a guard for you…”
Tita glanced at the Royal Guard gathered around the Emperor. These three-meter-tall, golden-armored giants, aside from a few standing beside Him, were scattered throughout the Sky Carrier (including the work area on the bridge). Even just a few of them made Tita feel the pressure. When she imagined herself as the enemy, attempting to break through the Royal Guard's defenses to assassinate the Emperor—forgive my blasphemous thoughts, she silently thought—she couldn't find a single opening. Any firing route would be blocked by energy-shielded shields, and any attempt at close range would be cut off and surrounded by the Guardian Spears. In comparison, although her own guards were rigorously trained and frequently practiced, she didn't believe the androids could do the same. Even though she and the androids were born from the Emperor, they were still significantly inferior to the Royal Guard.
She promptly abandoned this disheartening idea, for she noticed the emperor staring at her with a smile in his eyes.
"My girl, don't be nervous," He said softly. "Just do your job."
"My lord, we should board now." Constantine seemed to have just ended a call. He pointed to the holographic projection interface on the control panel, which displayed a string of codes. "Commander Malcolm reports, the assault boats of the First Combat Group are ready."
"Dinah, come with me. Let's take Attilan." The Emperor nodded. His blood-red battle robe, inlaid with gold thread, billowed like a crimson cloud, and his massive spear gleamed under the lights. Diana lowered her head; the giant chainsaw sword, magnetically attached to her power armor's energy backpack, slowly rotated its serrated teeth as if alive. "If the moon cannot belong to humanity, then no one can possess it."
"The space elevator project, Mr. Ambassador. I also wouldn't mind sharing the engine technology with your country." Regent Viktor von Dum held up his wine glass, as did the middle-aged man sitting opposite him. This ambassador hadn't withdrawn during the Yugoslav Wars of Unification, a war that hadn't caused too many civilian casualties, which allowed him to sit here and speak with the Regent. "Unity comes at a price. The emperor became emperor because he knew that all the vested interests in this world didn't want change. The weapon of criticism cannot replace the criticism of weapons, can it?"
"I have read 'The Truth of Unity' and strongly agree with its views. But I still have a question. Does your country's leadership want to rebuild a Soviet Union? Judging from the current situation, the expansionist tendencies of the Yugoslav Federation are not much different from the revisionism of the Soviet Union."
"His idea is to establish a united human government, sweep away all political systems lacking progressiveness, unite all humanity to resist alien invaders, and usher humanity into the interstellar age," Regent Viktor von Dum calmly replied. "The Soviet Union is a thing of the past. That nation, born from humanity's greatest dream and destroyed by the most despicable thieves, is gone. We must explore a completely new philosophy of transhuman interstellarism. Mr. Ambassador, regarding the Yugoslav Federation fleet's entry into lunar orbit, you will see the Emperor himself personally eliminate the dangerous alien threat lurking among the human race. He is an immortal being; He has saved humanity from extinction many times. What you will see is merely the prelude to a crisis."
