Chapter 1511 Chapter 1507 Lunar War
Chapter 1511, Chapter 1507: The Lunar War (Part 23)
The darkness offered protection, but the deeper they ventured into the Chimilian clan's civilian quarter, the stronger the magical aura in the air became, both among the genetically modified warriors and the Royal Guard. The air was silent and still; the opaque steel dome blocked out the starlight, and the night was so thick it seemed as if it could be sliced off and painted onto the white walls of the settlement.
As a former member of the Royal Guard, Derrick's understanding of the outer dimensions far surpassed that of everyone present.
He knew that terrifying spiritual entities existed in outer dimensions, and that there were also terrifying aliens in the universe with connections to outer dimensions so close that they completely broke free from evolutionary paths and manipulated and parasitized the bodies of the real world. In contrast, while the Chimerian clan did not rely entirely on outer dimensions for survival and reproduction, the real danger of these mutants lay in their ignorance of the knowledge they possessed.
The Kree wizards did not teach the Chimerian clan wizards a complete knowledge system. The Kree wizards themselves could not fully understand the writings left behind by the higher wisdom that created the Kree. Even the Kree themselves did not know whether the cells that created their higher wisdom were composed of a carbon skeleton or silicon and ammonia. Everything was submerged in legends and myths. The Kree could only understand that they themselves were products of genetic engineering. Therefore, the Kree wizards' understanding of the dangers of the outer dimensions was completely fragmented and highly random. The Chimerian clan wizards, who received their education from the Kree wizards, were no better off. Now, these Chimerian clan wizards were like those standing before a dense forest at night, shouting loudly, hoping someone would give them a specific leaf. The hungry beasts in the forest also heard the Chimerian clan wizards' cries. They might not be interested in the leaf, but they were certainly interested in the fresh flesh and blood outside the forest.
A giant drone searchlight slowly swept across the sky, its beam coming within centimeters of Gronov Rutov's boots. The Imperial Guard and the genetically modified soldiers had completed their initial reconnaissance. Through rapid diagnostic equipment, they were certain that the Chimilian civilians were holding human viscera from the slums, gutted like disemboweled fish—a process necessary to ensure each Chimilian clan member possessed an organ. Along the main road of the settlement, coarse, blackened, discontinuous, foul-smelling streaks of bodily fluids dripped from the slum slaves, leading directly to the central tower of the Chimilian settlement.
Derrick initially determined that the internal organs served as ritual offerings, but he wasn't certain whether the Chimilian clan civilians had been affected by spiritual influence. After all, the team hadn't seen any immature Chimilian civilians in the residential area, and the collective education area was deserted. Derrick could only make a reasonable deduction based on the intelligence relayed by the spies: that after losing Matriarch Onomi's command, the Chimilian clan had fallen into political infighting, with the wizarding order ultimately emerging victorious and embarking on a grand plan never before implemented.
What that plan was, no one except the Chimilian clan wizards knew. Now it was certain that the ritual had completely spiraled out of control, the Sea of Souls was turbulent and unpredictable, and it was very likely that those Chimilian clan commoners had also become sacrifices in the ritual, the price for the wizards to satisfy their ambitions. Even Derrick dared not make a definitive judgment on the bottom lines of mutants, Xenomorphs, and wizards—the knowledge the Emperor had taught him proved that not every race in this universe possessed human morality, and without guidance and education, human morality itself was hardly any better, especially for wizards who would pay a heavy price for exploring the wisdom beyond time and space displayed by other dimensions—whether those commoners willingly offered their blood sacrifices into the Chimilian clan king's tower or were mentally manipulated into becoming sacrifices, the moment the shield was removed, everything here would burn.
The sins of this mutant race will be completely erased.
The Chimerian clan will cease to exist; this is the Emperor's will.
"I will issue an inquiry into the Chimilian clan of wizards."
Mother Medusa turned to look at the throne beside her, or more precisely, at the person seated on it. The latter used sign language to communicate, which Mother Medusa redirected. "Why haven't the Chimilian clan wizards gone to the front lines to confront the enemy?" Mother Medusa asked first, then answered, "I have ordered the Chimilian clan wizards to conduct a prophecy concerning the enemy leader, Your Majesty… What you wish to ask is, why has the Chimilian clan chosen to close off its ancestral home?"
Black Bolt nodded, then closed his eyes again.
His arrival diverted the attention of the noisy Genetic Council. Representatives from the four clans, excluding the commoner clans, rushed forward like ghouls seeing carrion. The moment Mother Medusa saw him, she greeted him warmly with a hug, and Black Bolt smiled and squeezed her hand. He didn't immediately lead his special operations team, composed of elites from each clan, to the front lines. Instead, he went directly to the Genetic Council and took his throne. Initially, the other four clan representatives were somewhat dissatisfied, as Black Bolt hadn't appeared, and no one knew if he was visiting the "rebel" Maxim in prison, and what trouble the latter might cause due to Black Bolt's momentary leniency, further harming the already precarious Attilan. However, after Black Bolt's multi-clan team arrived at the Genetic Council with a firm and united stance, these complaints vanished. This Attilan king, with his exceptional personal charisma and political acumen, reconciled the political differences between five different clans, and even the different clans held him in high esteem.
“I need an answer.” Matriarch Medusa translated the gesture, then looked at the representative of the Chimilian clan. The representative’s narrow face was expressionless, but his body language revealed that he was constantly seeking help from the outside world. To be precise, the Chimilian clan representative didn’t know much, as he was merely an official continuing his work after the Wizarding Order gained power; he was completely unaware of the Order’s rituals and plans. Medusa patiently waited for the representative to send a message, then waited a while longer, until she was certain that the official communication channel between the Genetic Council and the Chimilian clan had also been severed, before her attitude became serious. “It seems the representative knows nothing about this, is that so?”
The representative of the Chimerian clan admitted this with frustration.
Without a word of instruction, warriors from Clan Chimilian in Black Bolt's allied forces ascended the steps, dragged their clan representative from Mother Onomi's throne, and sat down themselves. Black Bolt nodded in approval. Representatives from Clan Centauri, Clan Ghost, and Clan Villain lowered their heads, ceasing their complaints. "I will draw a portion of the Chimilian clan's allied forces," Black Bolt gestured, "My allied forces will act together to ensure the safety of Clan Chimilian. We cannot guarantee that Clan Chimilian has not been attacked."
"Praise be to your kindness."
The Ghost Clan representative grinned, revealing a dense array of sharp teeth. The other clan representatives echoed his agreement. Black Bolt looked at Medusa. As the true queen, Medusa had provided him with much assistance. He grasped Medusa's hand tightly and handed her a data tablet covered in writing. It contained his private words to her, expressed in writing rather than gestures, requiring neither transfer nor the knowledge of others.
"I will do it, my king." Medusa nodded vigorously, her deep emerald green eyes filled with worry. "Please be aware of the risks; the enemy is far stronger than we imagine."
"Not strong enough," Black Bolt gestured. "The enemy hasn't faced me yet."
Please vote for me!
