Chapter 1532 The Lunar War
Chapter 1532 The Lunar War (Forty-Four)
After waking up in the medical pod, Matriarch Onomi immediately received all the information from the highest military commander. However, the news left her feeling like she had a fishbone stuck in her throat, and the dual pain of mind and body constantly pounded on her brain. She wasn't wearing a crown; in fact, she was dressed in nothing but simple fabric, and her mane was still unkempt. She sat on the sofa in the command center, looking at the data panel.
On one hand, she was astonished by the enormous changes that had occurred in Attiland during the time she was attacked by the invaders, seriously injured, and unconscious. On the other hand, she worried that without the suppression of the Chimilian clan's military power, the wizarding group left behind in the settlement would repeat the chaos of the past, under the pretext that "the disputes in the material universe are unrelated to the search for the truth of the outer dimensions." The Chimilian clan's military commander shared the same thought, and therefore had to secretly transfer Matronium when resisting the invaders, while claiming to the outside world that Matronium was in charge of the troop movement. After regaining command of the clan's army, Matronium immediately wanted to lead the army back to the settlement to build a defensive line there, rather than wasting time in the current chaotic fourth line of defense.
"Where are our reinforcements?"
"No reinforcements," the Chimilian clan general said helplessly. "We've already sent our reserves to the battlefield, and these soldiers are our only remaining armed force..." He waved his hands repeatedly. "...The invaders are too powerful, Matriarch. Those humans also have wizards. The accompanying wizards are unable to resist both the miniature fusion core bullets, flames, and plasma, and they've also revealed some information. The clan wizards recognized the magical skills of those human wizards, and they claim that previous generations of clan wizards clashed with those human wizards on the White Sands of the Moon."
The wizards belonging to the clan royal court have always been one of the battlegrounds in the political struggle between the Chimilian clan and the clan wizarding order.
The Royal Court wizards include former members expelled from the wizarding order, potential talents selected from commoners, and others. Unlike the independent status of the clan wizarding order, which is detached from the political system, the Royal Court wizards are completely subservient to Matriarch Onomi and only accept supplies from the Royal Court. Those who previously fought alongside Matriarch Onomi were military wizards. Therefore, these military wizards were almost all Royal Court wizards, not wizards who inherited the Kree Empire's traditions. This differing stance meant that even though these Royal Court wizards received education from the wizarding order, they did not acquire much advanced arcane knowledge and had to rely on the Royal Court for all their arcane training.
As the Chimilian clan migrated to Attilan Fortress, time passed, and their wisdom faded, many of their mystical languages and formulas became undecipherable or were distorted and altered, losing all power. The energy from the extradimensional waves also diminished, significantly weakening the power of both the wizarding corps and the clan's royal court wizards. Their once-powerful gaze, capable of twisting steel, could now only bend metal straws. The legendary power to move mountains and fill seas, to summon and command otherworldly messengers, had vanished. The once-proud Chimilian clan gradually declined. This was why the clan's royal court was unwilling to eliminate the wizarding corps; after all, psychic power was the Chimilian clan's greatest strength. The clan's royal court and the wizarding corps were interdependent; without psychic power, they would lose all influence within the Genetic Council, and ultimately, they might even be unable to protect their unique mutation techniques and knowledge.
"As the lord of the Chimilian clan, how could I know nothing of this?" Hearing Madam Onomi's question, the Chimilian general lowered his head and fell silent. She continued her relentless questioning, "What is the situation with the White Room? Can we regain control of it?"
"We've tried, Mistress."
The Chimilian clan general's skin was taut, and blood seeped again from the shrapnel wounds on his face. But Matriarch Onomi showed him no pity, for she had already witnessed the casualties. The Chimilian clan had suffered the most losses of all the clans, even though they were merely a security force, not an army, they were still trained professionals. "Three times, each time with heavy casualties. The last time we were close to success, but we found it was a trap. Only one survivor escaped, a prisoner deliberately released by the enemy," the Chimilian clan general said dejectedly. He could not forget the scene he had witnessed from the upper deck, overlooking the battlefield—Chimilian clan warriors, armed to the teeth, marching in dense ranks through a blast door, determined to retake the White Room. As they advanced deeper into the front lines, the human warriors who had invaded Attilan drove armored vehicles out from both sides—he saw hundreds of Chimerian clan warriors fall in droves like carbohydrate crystals in a biochemical farm, and many of them were blown to pieces by a storm of lasers and bullets before they even had a chance to fire.
"We cannot take back the White Room."
"When I first attacked the White Room, there were only ten invaders, and we only had twenty. Even so, we killed three of them," Matriarch Onomi said slowly, enduring the pain in her body. "Now you have a thousand warriors, but you've only killed an estimated fifty invaders? Do you know what the White Room means? It was our only way out of Attilan Fortress! The biggest regret of my life was handing over command of the army to you, my blood relative!"
After a brief respite, Matriarch Onomi closed her eyes, listening to the cacophony and agonizing screams outside the command post. Seemingly remembering that her blood relative had made the right decision not to leave her healing pod in the settlement, and that the Chimilian clan was a professional psionic force of the Kree Empire, possessing minimal armored vehicles, individual armor, and weaponry, Matriarch Onomi had to suppress her temper and refrain from using her telekinetic powers to crush her blood relative's head into a pulp.
"Open the communication channel of the Ghost Clan's Evo Matriarch," she said. "If all the clans are going to stay here, then I need to figure out why we're even in this rubbish heap! Also, send a small team back to Cornel (the name of the settlement) and demand that all the wizards come to the front lines. I will give the messenger my personal mark, and if the wizarding order refuses, then I need you to lead the army back to Cornel to arrest all the wizards."
The general of the Chimerian clan bowed his head deeply.
Whatever the conflict between the Clan Court and the Wizarding Order, if the Wizarding Order fails to stand on the side of the clan's continuation at this critical moment, then Matriarch Onomi would not hesitate to deliver the most severe blow to the Wizarding Order.
“You must remind the wizarding order, cousin,” Matriarch Honorius said, “that if the wizarding order is not from the Chimilian clan, then I wouldn’t mind destroying them completely.”
"Intelligence intercepted. Chimerian clan reinforcements detected, route confirmed."
"Received. Strike force dispatched for interception. Artillery ready... Artillery firing data approved, commence strike."
As everyone knows, the Ghost Clan is a clan skilled in combat, not research. While their research capabilities are considerable, they still lag behind other clans. Although puzzled, the subordinates followed Matriarch Evo's instructions, moving the spoils of war into her private quarters. No one knew the purpose of the human equipment, but Matriarch Evo believed she could solve the problem, so no one questioned her—Matriarch Evo was in a bad mood, supposedly because of the other clans' weakness—if Matriarch Evo could use that equipment to figure out the enemy's movements, she might even achieve results that other clans could never attain!
While thinking this, the subordinates continued to move equipment into Madam Evo's residence.
