Chapter 1541 The Lunar War

Chapter 1541 The Lunar War (53)

"Crime not only needs to be destroyed, but everyone must see the consequences for those who started it."

Captain Gronov Rutov lowered his head, offering no objection to the Emperor's verdict.

As the exploration deepened, the numerous crimes of the Chimilian clan were laid bare before the Emperor and the genetically modified warriors. As the source of psychic power that protected the entire Wizarding Spire and defied the laws of physics to construct a space beyond the real universe, the Chimilian clan wizards creatively combined the powers of many psionicists and integrated psychic energy using psychic energy wires and neural cables. These psionicists, as the source of psychic energy, were certainly not voluntarily immersed in hibernation pods and subjected to surgery to install neural cable interfaces and automated injectors.

Even more chilling is that some psionicists seem to share identical genetic traits, a fact confirmed by subsequent sampling and rapid testing. This clandestine genetic crime and unauthorized breeding of mutant psionicists are the most intolerable offenses of the New Order. The rampant proliferation of disordered psionicists could easily endanger the material universe through unrestrained exploration of outer dimensions. These collected psionicists are not all members of the Chimerian clan or other Attilan mutants; as before, there are also humans from Earth who have not undergone any artificial mutations.

No one would believe that the royal court of the Chimilian clan was completely unaware of the wizarding group's experiments.

Attilan Fortress cannot manufacture large quantities of advanced industrial products on its own. Such a large amount of sophisticated equipment and advanced materials could not have appeared out of thin air. It's impossible to accumulate such a large laboratory with hundreds or thousands of human bodies before Captain Gronov Rutov through petty theft. It can only be remnants of the Kree Empire, laboratory products, and trade goods with other clans. This certainly requires the support of certain forces within Attilan. Although the documents found so far cannot prove the source of its materials, the Attilan Inhumans' unrestrained exploration in the pursuit of ultimate psionic genetic mutations is an undeniable fact.

The Emperor's decree signifies an escalation of the war against the Inhumans of Attilan, and previously shelved punitive tactics have been brought to the forefront. Captain Gronov Rutov is well aware of what punitive tactics are; genetically modified warriors are no strangers to this tactic. This brutal tactic of intimidation, slaughter, and terrorist attacks is often used to destroy the will of certain groups. Captain Gronov Rutov personally participated in the operation against the Boh religious armed organization.

When this psychological tactic, known as punishment, is permitted to be used, it often leads to terrible consequences.

While lacking the scorched-earth tactics that obliterate everything, this tactic surpasses them in sheer horror, and its targets are no longer limited to military installations, energy facilities, propaganda outlets, and government agencies. While sentient beings are easily empathized with those of similar appearance, few can maintain a sane will, let alone resist, after witnessing similar beings, or even their own kind, being subjected to beheadings, disembowelment, or mutilation before their very eyes. This tactic achieves its objective of subjugating the enemy with minimal manpower, resources, and speed. Though rarely used, it consistently yields excellent results, and Captain Gronov Rutov doesn't mind getting his hands dirty to complete the mission.

"Burn all of this, Captain Gronov Rutov."

The emperor took one last look at the densely packed array of human figures.

Countless cables connect the heads of psionicists to a massive quantum computer array at the center. Drug-induced chemical dreams keep these psionicists perpetually asleep, their emaciated bodies only able to receive intravenous injections and artificial metabolism. These psionicists have no future, no past. Artificial breeding and hormone-induced maturation accelerate their growth while shortening their lifespans, and their brains, completely controlled by numerous neural cables, lack any independent consciousness. Compared to the previous Terrigen chemical mutation experiments that distorted human form and the psionic mutations, this latest experiment by the Chimilian clan seems even more unbearable for the Emperor.

This wasn't because of the necromancy and other dark magic (including techniques like soul manipulation) researched by the Chimilian clan wizards, but because such a dense concentration of psionic energy was highly susceptible to causing accidents. It's likely that the fusion of the material universe and the outer dimensions within the wizarding tower above relied on these human arrays for energy, causing a slow and irreversible spiritual corruption of the Chimilian clan and even the entire Inhuman race. He led Hammurabi one last time through the passageway used to maintain the psionic human arrays, carefully examining the spirit of each psionicist, and finally shook his head in resignation.

"Let these psykers die under induced anesthesia; this is their last dream."

"Yes, my lord. I will bring fear to these mutants."

"Hurry! Hurry! Don't let those humans catch up with us!"

Aularil, the former supreme military commander of the Chimilian clan and a cousin of the Onomi matriarch, shouted, urging his soldiers to quickly take cover behind bunkers. As he finally managed to bury his head behind the thick concrete and alloy-cast bunker, a terrifying storm of explosives swept over him, blasting everything in its path and causing the lone bunker to tremble violently. Aularil could even feel the rumbling of armored vehicles carrying human genetically modified soldiers crushing the deck.

"Close the airtight door!" he shoved a Chimilian clan warrior beside him. "Quickly, pull the switch!"

With the rusty gears turning laboriously, the heavy, airtight door finally groaned and slammed shut, blocking out the terrifying roar. "Now hurry, this door won't hold for much longer." He immediately realized the humans had used a laser cannon when he saw a large, red, hot dot the size of two heads appear on the airtight door. "We must get back quickly and drag those wizards out of their lair! Now, everyone who's alive, follow me, we're going to repair the passage!"

"Yes, sir!"

Due to the communication blackout, Auraril was unaware of the messages he had received from the Gene Council guard messengers he had brushed past, or from the clan alliance warriors who had come to replace him as supreme military commander. Even if he knew, he wouldn't accept them, provided he didn't know that Matriarch Onomi had already surrendered. At this moment, his hundred-man squad wasn't taking the main road from the fourth line of defense to the settlement; that area was currently being ravaged by direct fire from the human army. The Attiran Inhumans had also deployed their heavy, immobile weapons, attacking the human army's armored units—except for the civilian clans. The civilian clans' military technology was underdeveloped. Because the Kree Empire had always treated the civilian clans as research subjects rather than a military force, they hadn't been equipped with many high-tech weapons. Therefore, the civilian clans' greatest strength lay in their own abilities—however, in open terrain, the terrifying firepower and sturdy armor of the human army made it difficult for the civilian clans to utilize their diverse combat capabilities. The almost impenetrable barrage of fire forced the civilian clans to retreat back behind cover.

Aurarir wanted to mock the warriors of the commoner clans, but he didn't have much time left. As the vanguard passed through the narrow, one-man-passage repair tunnel, they were met with the sight of the wizard's tower ablaze and illuminated by countless lights. A black shuttle, clearly a creation of human technology, was partially visible in the firelight, while the civilians of the Chimilian clan wept, fled, and pleaded in panic and darkness. Before Aurarir could even process the scene before him, an armored vehicle of a human genetically modified warrior began spraying bullets at the steel dome, tearing apart the hardened foam that had just been repaired.
