Chapter 1574 Chapter 1570 Lunar War
Chapter 1574, Chapter 1570: The Lunar War (86)
A hyena-like, long snout tore at the rapidly rotting flesh on the ground, and then a precise bomb struck the monster's head, adding another layer of horror to the dark, bloody landscape amidst the ruins. This was one of Attilan's main thoroughfares, where genetically modified warriors, mortal armies, and Inhuman armies clashed most fiercely. The once wide streets, used to transport royal supplies, were now covered by the ruins of once magnificent buildings covered in mosaic murals.
The Inhumans of Attilan dispatched their most professional, powerful, and well-coordinated army to intercept the genetically modified warriors. The human army responded with heavy explosives, machine guns, flamethrowers, man-portable missiles, and artillery bombardment. The collapsed buildings and remaining debris on the ground gradually transformed into a carpet of steel, flesh, cables, and concrete rock, all bound together by repeated explosions. The bloodiest and most brutal battle attracted inhabitants from another dimension who braved the fog of war. They came spontaneously, unable to control their urge to devour flesh, and began to feast on survivors and corpses. These mindless beasts were the weakest enemies; lacking intelligence, they hunted lone survivors, mostly fleeing Inhumans, driven solely by bloodlust. Even the mortals in the human army, relying on strict military discipline, long-trained skills, and various weapons, could temporarily repel the beasts that emerged from the shadows.
Until the owner of these beasts arrives.
Those terrifying creatures with humanoid limbs wielded black swords burning with cursed flames, surrounded by hordes of crazed mutants as they charged into the encirclement. The severely mutated humans frantically rushed towards the barbed wire and landmines, and the entire battle line was instantly engulfed in a series of explosions. Meanwhile, those nightmarish creatures broke through the sea of fire, braving dense lasers and explosive bombs, and leaped into the ranks of the mortal army, slaughtering indiscriminately with their vicious weapons. Every wound they left on the mortals was equivalent to the most terrifying black magic.
They discovered that the flames on the vicious sword didn't inflict the eternal torment on the humans as expected. The seemingly tangible, cursed black flames couldn't penetrate human bodies, and their strength and speed were less than anticipated. The injured humans even dared to take up arms and fight back; one human soldier in black armor even stabbed an enemy from the Nightmare Realm to death with a dagger. "Your master cannot protect you forever! You are nothing but lowly, blind creatures, incapable of knowing the truth!" a creature far larger than the other spiritual entities roared. Faint golden flames scorched its body, leaving marks, but no one noticed. "When you die in agony, your souls will belong to us!"
The enraged unborn let out piercing howls, and more demons rushed into the battlefield.
When Aparisha arrived at the encirclement, the human army had already begun establishing a second line of defense. He didn't consider what the warriors, already deeply embedded in the Inhuman city, would face, because the main force of heavy armored vehicles and main battle tanks had already entered the city; he trusted that the assault squads could fight their way out. Aparisha watched as the frenzied creatures, holding aloft dismembered pieces of Inhuman and mortal soldiers impaled on steel, clad in cloaks made of human skin and bones, wantonly wreaked havoc on the scene.
Aparisha, without a word, wielding the Executioner's Axe, charged into the enemy ranks with his guards, his axe crackling with azure electricity. He smashed through the corpses of mortal soldiers with his shoulder armor, then cleaved the spiritual entity before him in two vertically. The crazed creature let out a final howl, its falling body turning into a pool of ashes and pus. Aparisha could barely contain his rage; he charged relentlessly at the enemy, the guards' explosive shells roaring around him. In less than a minute, the dense shield formation and the deafening barrage of shells formed a dam, forcefully pushing back the enemy before their defensive line.
This was just one of dozens of defensive lines, each with at least one genetically modified squad fighting bravely. Meanwhile, the highly mobile units, originally positioned in the rear to prevent enemy teleportation attacks, had bypassed the fortifications and, like ancient cavalry, charged into the enemy's rear, disrupting their advance. Furthermore, the terminal air defense systems, originally deployed in the defensive positions, had abandoned their original function, unleashing countless machine gun shells on those who had escaped the genetically modified soldiers' onslaught.
"Get out of here!"
The enraged Black Bolt roared, and the sonic waves, brimming with psychic power, instantly shattered the skin, muscles, and bones of all the undead in the fan-shaped area before him, like a whirlwind sweeping across the plaza, scattering the approaching extradimensional spiritual entities. However, this bought little time. The captain of the Royal Guard was still leading the army in a desperate struggle, and the task force previously sent to attack the rear of the human army had been brought back by Locktooth—Gordon had disappeared after completing his mission—these relatively combat-capable troops had formed a defensive line on the steps to deal with the endless stream of monsters attempting to storm the Gene Council Hall.
No one knows where these monsters came from, nor who created these terrifying creatures. They are far stronger and more agile than the Inhumans, and even the royal family's finest warriors could not face them alone. Even Black Bolt could not kill all the invaders without harming his own kind. Despite harboring hatred for the invaders, even the captain of the royal guard had to admit that these never-before-seen invaders were definitely not human.
Human armies possess strict order and absolute composure, while these creatures are driven only by chaos and desire. The battle report received by the Royal Guard captain indicated that the human army had also engaged in combat with these bizarre creatures, and the fighting was far more brutal. The Attilan royal family was facing only a small fraction of them—he vaguely remembered his traditional military training mentioning similar enemies, but due to years of information loss, even the Inhuman battle reports collected by the Attilan royal family offered little insight. "This might be a sorcerous entity, Your Majesty," the Royal Guard captain said to Black Bolt. He had never imagined the plaza in front of the Genetic Council hall would be so chaotic, with bloodshed and wailing covering every stone brick. "I learned in my family training that our Inhuman ancestors may have faced similar enemies."
Black Bolt glanced at him.
At this moment, the Locktooth Dog opened its mouth wide and bit off the leg of a spiritual entity, splattering foul-smelling black blood everywhere.
"We can fight these creatures on our own," said the captain of the Royal Guard. "Every Inhuman is a potential psionicist, and our abilities are targeted psionic expressions."
Black Bolt opened his mouth again and uttered a single word, forcing back the approaching extradimensional spiritual entity.
"Cover the wounded in their evacuation. I'll buy you time." He gestured, his forehead beaded with sweat. He had a gut feeling that he understood the human king's thoughts. "I grant you all the rights you need. You can contact the human army if necessary. We need to face the same enemy. Survive. The human king will let many of us live, even if it means forgetting the past, even if it means I have to give my life."
