Chapter 1576 The Lunar War

Chapter 1576 The Lunar War (Eighty-Eight)

The Imperial Guard was a mysterious combination of the emperor's science, technology, and power.

If the Royal Guard weren't currently short-handed, Constantine, as one of only two people who possessed all the procedures and equipment for genetic alchemy, would have been eager to have the Royal Guard stationed at the Dimensional Gap Watchtower. The Emperor also knew that the Royal Guard wanted to use the Dimensional Gap to gather intelligence and information about the alien races in the galaxy before the grand plan was implemented.

As a major branch of the World Tree system, the dimensional gaps are home to many alien wizards from different parts of the Milky Way and different civilizations, exchanging psionic resources and knowledge. These alien wizards are relatively benign, and most are not so-called psionic races or aliens that rely entirely on extradimensional survival. They are alien races that can be utilized by the Emperor's future plans and can be made subordinate to the human race. However, these alien races are all small in scale, and most planetary governments do not have the ability to control psionicists, or simply allow psionicists to exist without control. Some are even unable to explore planetary orbits.

The Milky Way is teeming with brutal, technologically advanced, and massively populated alien interstellar empires. These empires will be an obstacle to human civilization, and the Emperor is determined to exterminate them. Constantine desires this knowledge. While the Emperor has indeed brought back a considerable amount of information from the Milky Way, the galaxy is so vast that even the civilizations encountered by space pirates wandering its waters could not possibly know everything about every race. Even the Emperor himself is merely an explorer trudging along a thorny, foggy path; he doesn't believe he has the capacity to know everything that happens in the Milky Way. Therefore, from a pragmatic perspective, intelligence gathering is of paramount importance.

Constantine planned to dispatch the Guardians, the most skilled in covert operations and espionage besides himself, from the Guardians. However, Amon was currently undertaking another duty and was temporarily unable to leave. Guardians with the relevant talent and intelligence had not yet been produced. Therefore, it would be a long wait before the Guardians' plan could be implemented, gradually replacing the veterans from the dimensional gaps, allowing the latter to free up their time and energy to help the Emperor complete the establishment of another important institution.

"Have you made a decision, Ms. Jiaying?" Amon asked.

"I want to see my daughter before making a decision." Jia Ying looked at the emperor, who had already walked away, standing shoulder to shoulder with another golden-armored giant, dazzling among the mortal soldiers. "Can you decide this?"

"I can, because all of my Lord's decisions are my decisions," Amon said. "Once the battle is over, you will be sent back to Earth to meet Daisy Jensen. She is currently on a mission with S.H.I.E.L.D., and I will arrange a suitable time for you, in a undisturbed environment."

Black Bolt took the electromagnetic rifle from the back of a wounded member of the Royal Guard and began firing downwards.

Each invisible steel needle pierced the bodies of the extradimensional beings with precision, then tumbled out, creating a gaping wound. However, aside from a few unlucky survivors, the vast majority of extradimensional beings were unaffected by these tiny needles—the massive wounds healed rapidly, as if their bodies were merely vessels for evil souls. Seeing Black Bolt appear, they became even more excited, charging recklessly through the Royal Guard's defensive line, even forgetting the unarmed civilians at their feet. At this moment, the Royal Guard captain had led a small group of civilians who had evacuated from other lines into the heavy iron gates of the Genetic Council. Black Bolt, catching a glimpse of this scene, emptied the magazine of his electromagnetic rifle without hesitation and charged into the swarm of extradimensional beings.

With a deafening scream, a sonic wave, like an explosive shockwave, emanated from Black Bolt. Black Bolt, mouth agape, surveyed his surroundings. The terrifying high-frequency vibrations transformed his roar into a piercing shriek beyond the range of most human hearing, freezing the monsters in place. He took a brief breath and forced out the next word, blood gushing from his mouth. But this did not diminish the destructive power. The powerful ultrasonic waves shattered everything within a twenty-meter radius of him, including the monsters, even breaking down the intermolecular forces. The surrounding temperature plummeted instantly, and nanoscale particles, like suspended dust, formed a black storm enveloping him with the collapsing airflow.

He took a few more steps forward, his body covered in frost and black dust.

Blackcard Burt just spread his arms, his previously contracted bat wings opening and lengthening like a pair of black bat feathers. He lowered his head, opened his mouth, and whispered a bloodstained word. Then, propelled by the reaction force, Blackcard Burt just soared into the air, the only time he had flown beneath the steel dome since his parents' death.

He looked down at his beloved city, the indirect fire of the human army whistling past him. The Inhuman city, deprived of power, resembled a giant tomb, with only the flames from collapsing buildings and the supernatural fire ignited by monsters from another dimension illuminating a corner of the ruins. Flickering plasma clusters, ultra-high temperature subatomic heat streams, straight lasers, and the flashes of exploding bombs were fleeting. Blackcard Burt had just seen the human army, like waves, slowly pushing the malevolent flames toward the ruins.

He saw scattered lights beneath the war engine, dozens of meters high. Each armor plate of that massive engine was adorned with magnificent, gigantic reliefs and emblems, like a mechanical god walking among mortals. But an incomparably dazzling presence stood there, stealing all the engine's brilliance, overlooking the war-torn city alongside Blackcard Burtg. Even though this war was ignited by a human king, Blackcard Burtg had seen far too much. He was too tired; he felt he couldn't bear such painful truths.

The Inhumans are destined to perish.

Humanity has no need for the Inhumans, because the Inhumans see themselves as an evolution of the human species. The Kree have no need for the Inhumans, because they only see them as slaves, now merely a disposable liability that no one wants. From the beginning, the Inhumans have wandered the galaxy; even returning to their home planet's solar system, they are still outsiders. The human rulers merely added fuel to the fire of the Inhumans' inevitable demise, because the ecological niche of this galaxy needed a shift. The weakened Inhumans could not stop humanity's advance—submission offered survival, and offering everything would allow their knowledge and culture to be integrated into the human race. This was the condition the human rulers offered the Inhumans—meaning that, except for the commoner clans, all other clans would face bloodshed. Compared to the commoner clans, these Inhumans, also of human origin, suffered extremely severe genetic mutations and could no longer be considered human.

"They will never identify with humans, neither in culture nor in appearance. They must die because they will not surrender, because of the psionic instability the Kree instilled in them through targeted genetic mutations. In fact, it is a malignant psionic mutation, like cell cancer. I want you to understand that this is not hypocrisy; the reason other clans face war with the human race is simply because we are too close."

"Then let your soldiers show true respect. Inhumans never beg for mercy. I will give you what you want; all I want is your respect. We once shared the same blood, fate separated us, and now we face each other with swords drawn. It's time to settle this. You must promise me that even if I cannot see that war."
