Chapter 1577 The Lunar War

Chapter 1577 The Lunar War (Eighty-Nine)

Aparishia slaughtered silently and savagely, whether the execution axe struck bizarre, twisted forms from another dimension or mutants who had lost their human appearance due to genetic mutations. The execution axe, which required two people to barely lift, was as light as a tree branch in his hands. The mutants' bone density and flesh were utterly unable to withstand the razor-sharp blade. Facing the skinless monsters from another dimension, Aparishia activated the execution axe's power, using the scorching blade to cleave through the twisted black sword forged from hell metal, smoothly slicing through the viscera-less body.

These monsters clearly have no concept of fear.

The explosive guns were originally designed to deal with the ubiquitous and terrifying creatures of the universe, as well as the individual armor used by intelligent beings. Their drag and penetration power far surpassed the weakened electromagnetic rifles the Kree had given the Inhumans. Even though many of their kind had already perished under the guns of the genetically modified warriors, reduced to pools of pus and ashes, and even though the dense barrage of explosives had killed many extradimensional beings, they still surged towards the genetically modified warriors, especially their leader, Aparisha. They crashed against the shields erected by the genetically modified warriors like waves, the sounds of steel clashing against hellish metal echoing endlessly. These beings, not found in the material universe, wielded deformed claws and weapons, greedily reaping the lives of fleeing Inhuman civilians, unwilling to relinquish any soul within their grasp.

Tanks clad in steel and armor rolled over the ruins, their tracks crushing the rubble. Blazing white-hot jets of heat spewed from their cannons, instantly vaporizing the steel and scalding the monsters' flesh. The air was thick with the pungent smell of burning metal. Aparisha nodded to the armored vehicles, raised his battle axe, and ordered the genetically modified warriors to advance. His command squad and the First Company bore the most arduous task: attacking the civilian clan settlements. The Emperor had finally decided to no longer hold back, deploying heavy equipment in waves rather than remaining in the encirclement, compressing the Inhumans' living conditions, and waiting for them to negotiate.

Compared to the already captured Chimilian clan settlement, where a methodical massacre was underway, and the Centaurus clan settlement, which was being leveled by heavy artillery, the Commoner clan settlement became the most difficult area to conquer in the entire campaign. This was due to its role as a liaison point for communication between different clans, its largest population of all clans, and its largest area within Attilan's residential region. While other clan settlements also featured layered, honeycomb-like buildings capable of accommodating many residents, the Commoner clan's residential structure was far more complex.

Each clan promulgated its own population laws and implemented eugenic policies. However, prolonged peace and recuperation inevitably led to a population explosion, especially in the settlements of the most populous commoner clans. Consequently, the honeycomb-like buildings within these settlements were the largest, most complex, and most densely populated building complexes of all clans. The complexity of these complexes was astonishing, and due to the population explosion, many buildings were redistributed based on family units, gradually forming a tumor attached to the original building complexes. As a result, when human armies, who were gradually establishing no-man's-land, used explosive cannons, thermobaric missiles, and thermobaric bombs to demolish buildings, they often found one wall behind another, and the unfortunate ones who couldn't escape were huddled like rats in rooms barely large enough to turn around in. Many of the buildings that were brutally destroyed were structurally unstable and relied entirely on advanced armor materials for support. Now, they collapsed like avalanche mountains, the sounds of twisted metal and crushed concrete like thunder in a valley.

Aparisha and his First Company stood like silent reefs amidst the bloody waves, using their accompanying armored vehicles and main battle tanks to divide the massive enemy forces. They advanced silently, skillfully employing various urban warfare tactics to establish firing positions and clear out the extradimensional creatures within the encirclement, breaking down an adrenaline-pumping war into a series of surgically precise strikes. He suddenly looked up at the steel dome—beneath the dark dome, bright sparks were falling, providing fire support to the frontline troops—yet the tactical command system of the powered armor clearly marked an inconspicuous dark shape beneath the steel dome, the IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) function instantly identifying the figure.

Blackcard Burtgan, the nominal king of the Inhumans, is also the most threatening known individual among the Inhumans of Attilan. Not only Aparisha, but also the radar of the rear support forces and snipers hidden in the city detected Black Bolt's presence. After seeing the relevant information on the tactical projection of his helmet, Aparisha decided to shoot down the figure soaring beneath the steel dome. This could be accomplished with a skilled sniper and a powerful enough rifle; if that wasn't possible, they could use a terminal air defense system on Black Bolt. However, command rejected this proposal because Black Bolt was peace-loving and wanted to talk to the Emperor.

"This does not affect our war against the Inhumans," Malcolm told senior officers at a temporary online meeting. "The Inhumans will not be our friends, and all Inhumans except for the civilian clans must be purged. The strategic objectives will not change; our primary target remains the Inhuman genetic research facilities, and the mortal army will continue to accept civilian clan prisoners."

Black Bolt, the Black Bolt, had barely landed, his black bat wings still folding, when, surrounded by the halberds raised by the much larger Janissaries, he uttered his conditions through his wounded throat. He wasn't worried about harming the human emperor; the emperor had made it clear to him that Black Bolt's so-called superpowers were useless if He so desired.

"Secondly, I need your army to help me protect civilians." He glanced at the towering, golden-armored giant beside him. Blackcard Burt had no idea that if the Emperor hadn't just ordered the Royal Guard to cease fire and instructed command not to intercept Black Bolt, he would likely have been attacked by snipers, anti-aircraft guns, and anti-aircraft missiles before even arriving here. "These are my conditions. If you agree, I will give you the key to the gene lab. It's the most heavily guarded place of all the clans. If you try to force your way in and take the equipment and data, this war will go on indefinitely. I believe you're already feeling the pressure of ammunition and logistics."

Constantine stared warily at Blackcard Burtgan. All the Guards' weapons were crackling with azure electricity. Amon and Hammurabi stood guard on either side of the Emperor, swords and shields in hand. Amon and Hannibal even had their fingers on the triggers of the explosive bullets on the hilts of the Guard Spears, ready to deliver a fatal blow to Black Bolt at any moment.

"My people need food, water, and safety, and I also need Maximus's position." Seemingly to make the most of his limited speaking time, Blackbolt Blackcard Burtgan spoke faster. "I can open the armory sealed by the Genetic Council and provide you with more weapons and equipment that the Council forbids. That's equipment that the Royal Family banned all clans from using after the Civil War. I don't expect you to treat my clan fairly; after all, even I have a bias towards my own clan. I've already abandoned other clans and dare not make any more demands."
