Chapter 161 The Delayed Sweet Kiss
Chapter 161 The Delayed Sweet Kiss (First Update!)
The Cheshire Cat, meowing pitifully, ran into the bar. Bayonetta had thrown it to the angels today because the witch wanted it to lose weight. Then, it panicked and tried to run away as it saw its owner place a strange-looking piece of clothing in front of it.
No cat likes to wear clothes, not even the magical feline cats.
"Protest denied, little fat cat."
Salomon scooped up the fat, struggling, and meowing grey shorthair cat. He heard the crisp sound of Bayonetta and Jeanne's high heels clicking on the marble floor. He looked up and saw them enter, relaxed and chatting. This time, their opponents weren't strong; Bayonetta and Jeanne hadn't even summoned their combat suits, wearing their everyday clothes. Jeanne's weapon was the "Luoyang," a pair of transforming swords Salomon had commissioned from Rodin. She was more than happy to be the test subject for this new weapon, and to make the swords even more powerful, Salomon used the souls of vampires—yes, the souls of Barnabas and Victoria.
The original vampire and its successor were merely petrified; their immortality remained. Although there was currently no way to undo the spell and find a way to completely kill them, their souls were now in Salomon's hands, with only their petrified bodies retaining vitality. The arcane mage then gave their souls to Rodan, the fallen angel craftsman. Deep within the River Styx, using the souls of two vampires with immense potential and combining them with indestructible demonic metal, he successfully forged the weapon Salomon desired—a pair of unequal, transforming swords that could not only truly wield crimson blades as depicted in the game, but also draw blood from the wounds of their attackers. The user's mana expenditure was far less than that of Excalibur. Although not as powerful as Excalibur, its superior endurance and the added "Vampire's Touch" ability to replenish life force made it a near-perfect weapon.
Joan of Arc was clearly pleased with the weapon. She successfully used it to kill an angel. The angel's hard shell was as thin as paper under the weapon's blade. This terrifying weapon even made those angels who had foolishly invaded the earth wail incessantly, as if their souls had been corrupted by the filthy blood. A weapon that can make angels suffer is a good weapon. This was the witch's simple value system.
Jendral pulled Bayonetta to the bar, gave a soft snort, and tossed the weapon back to Salomon. "Martini, with extra olives," she glanced at the sorcerer, "three glasses."
"We don't sell alcoholic beverages to minors here." Rodin glanced at the arcane mage and asked expressionlessly, "Cola?"
"Ha, there are minors here!" Joan of Arc looked at Salomon with a mocking gaze. "Then let's have two drinks. It's better for children not to enter the adult world, don't you think, Salomon?"
"Hmm~" Bayonetta raised her eyebrows, looking expectantly at the sorcerer beside her. She was already used to the bickering between Jeanne and Salomon; it was a daily routine. Every day, Jeanne and Salomon would argue, and then make up right on time at mealtimes. As for when they would argue next, that depended on whether they were full or not. The witch pointed to her lips and winked at the sorcerer—her meaning was clear.
"The legal drinking age is twenty-one," Salomon slowly sheathed his twin swords, then continued slowly, "Based on this age, I only need to wait another six years before I can legally drink. Joan, although you don't need to abide by this law, I still sincerely advise you to follow your doctor's advice and not drink, because you've already passed the maximum drinking age..."
Bayonetta fired the shot decisively—she and Joan of Arc were still beautiful twenty-year-old girls!
What happened last night?
This was the question that had been lingering in Salomon's mind ever since he woke up. He had a strange headache, as if he had been hit hard by something. He was currently lying on his bed in his single dormitory at Eton College. The room was neatly arranged, and the household items were spotless—this was the result of the work of the group of Scottish Isaacsons that Salomon had hired. As usual, before going to class, the sorcerer would leave the milk in its usual spot so that the adorable little ones could "steal" some.
However, that was after he woke up. Now, the sorcerer was eager to recall what had happened last night and his current situation.
First, we used the process of elimination to confirm that I was not dead... Great, we can proceed to the next test.
Salomon touched his forehead.
"Ouch!" He gasped. After summoning a small mirror, the sorcerer barely opened his eyes and looked at the reflection, only to find a bruise on his forehead. He felt something making a crisp sound near his ear, and, enduring the cold air, he reached out from under the covers and touched his pillow. After reading it with blurry vision, Salomon realized it was Bayonetta's "verdict." The paper stated that Salomon wouldn't even get to sleep on the sofa this Saturday, and the witch's sweet kiss was postponed to next week.
What did I do?
Salomon was completely baffled. Finally, he put aside his doubts, not only because women's minds are hard to fathom, but also because class was about to start. He had many things to do after today's lessons.
------------
"Is this the killer of Drake?" Only after Salomon finished his lessons for the day did he have time to return to Kamar-Taj to see the lower-plane creature that had killed the Kamar-Taj sorcerer. This time, however, the visit was led by Mordo himself, as Kamar-Taj had restrained the demon with magical artifacts due to its misdeeds. "It looks wet," Salomon said. "Which plane of existence does it live on?"
"Actually, this is a corrupted elemental creature," Mordo said, spreading his hands with a hint of helplessness. "In fact, I'm not quite sure how to categorize this creature. It doesn't live in Hell, but in the Water Elemental Plane, yet it does possess Hellish power... So for many years, Kamar-Taj has been unable to classify this creature. Furthermore, the Four Elemental Planes are the foundation of our world, not the outer dimension (inner plane). If they enter our world from the Four Elemental Planes, the planetary defense system would have a hard time detecting their presence."
Mordo then described in detail how he captured the creature from the lower plane, as well as the creature's abilities—including but not limited to turning into a puddle of water and merging into the water flow.
"Troublesome." Salomon glanced disdainfully at the lower-plane creature bound in the cell. Even from a distance, he could smell the stench of stagnant water emanating from it. "I think it's an elemental creature that lives near the lower planes," Salomon tentatively asked Mordo. "Did it enter our world on its own, or was it summoned?"
"Summoned." Mordo frowned. He had a feeling that Salomon knew something, and he wasn't sure if this was the result of the Sorcerer Supreme giving Salomon extra lessons. "The one who summoned it is a big shot," Baron Mordo said. "I've found some clues... Remember that flaming skull on TV? I found a description of it in the library."
"That's my next goal."
