Chapter 166 The Old Knight

Chapter 166 The Old Knight (Second Update!)

Kasirius's boast was indeed justified; he was indeed the most powerful arcane mage in the headquarters training grounds, excelling in both physical and magical combat. Seeing Kasirius's confidence, Salomon didn't say anything more. He simply shrugged and followed the other arcane mages into the town.

Such dilapidated towns are commonplace on the American Great Plains, and their numbers are increasing daily. Like Old Bridge in New Mexico, which Salomon visited, this was a settlement surrounded by sandstorms and desolation. But at least Old Bridge had people and a family restaurant that made decent beef pies. The mystics, however, felt a chill creep up their spines the moment they stepped inside. They heard nothing; this town had been abandoned for centuries.

Salomon gripped the morphing twin blades tightly in one hand, then quietly placed his other hand on the blades, activating the spell Rodan had imbued them with. Suddenly, a sound came from the other side of the group, and Mordo pounced like a ferocious cheetah, orange-red sparks flashing in his hand. The other melee mages who had chosen the Blade Pact also rushed towards that location, including Kasirius and Salomon.

When they arrived, they saw Mordo wrestling with a pale-faced, dark-haired man. Mordo was extremely careful, preventing the man from touching him, and each time Mordo unleashed a positive energy spell, the man would wince in pain. Even a fool could guess the man's true identity. It must be said that, as Mephisto's son, the Heart Demon shared some similarities with Mephisto—for example, his hair never fell apart no matter how he moved; perhaps it was some kind of hairspray magic.

Kasirius roared, ordering the mages to cast spells, preparing to use the chains of magic to capture the Witchheart at the first opportunity. The Witchheart, realizing his plan had failed and that his remaining water elemental servant had likely been captured by Kamar-Taj, roared in fury, revealing his true demonic form—a terrifying face where smooth human teeth transformed into jagged, sharp canines, and his once human features rapidly withered and shrank, resembling a dried-up corpse. As he roared and uttered hellish swears, each mage chanted the name of Oshtu, pleading with the source of white magic to protect their hearts from the corrupting influence of those words.

Only Salomon did not seek Vishanti's help. He stretched out his left hand, adorned with the slingshot ring, and uttered a familiar incantation. Two bright white beams of light, crackling with each strike, hurtled straight towards the Warheart Demon. The added magical power of the incantation, Hadda's Grasp, shoved the Hell Prince violently against the earthen brick wall behind him. The Warheart Demon smashed a large hole in the wall, and the blasphemous incantation was naturally interrupted.

"Rule number one in actual combat," Salomon winked at Cassirios, "Don't chant long spells."

"Very well, it seems you've learned your lesson." Kasirios raised an eyebrow. He didn't know why the power of Hell had no effect on Salomon, but he was too lazy to think about it. Only Mordo glared at Salomon, looking somewhat displeased. Faced with Mordo's questioning, Salomon could only spread his hands, feigning ignorance—he was the future master of the Seventh Throne, after all; what did this little voice matter?

"You!" The Witchheart Demon seemed to have given up on maintaining his human form. As he crawled out of the brick ruins, his height increased, and sharp bones repeatedly pierced his skin. Black, foul-smelling pus flowed from the wounds. He tore open the human skin as if it were a piece of clothing. The Witchheart Demon seemed to have targeted the sorcerer Salomon who had interrupted him. He roared and pounced on Salomon.

Salomon was somewhat disappointed by the Heartfiend's reaction, as he acted more like a demon than a devil. No wonder Mephisto disliked his son; he was a complete idiot, utterly devoid of any cunning. Just as the Son of Hell lunged forward, the other mages completed their spells. Wielding weapons in one hand and unleashing magic in the other, dozens of whips made of sparks firmly bound the charging Heartfiend.

Mordo stepped forward, the scepter of the Living Tribunal stretching and deforming as it smashed into the face of the Heartdeer. The Heartdeer shook its head, glaring fiercely at Mordo, but the most stubborn sorcerer of Kamar-Taj remained unmoved, continuing to swing its weapon and smashing the Heartdeer to the ground. Immediately afterward, several sorcerers stopped their spellcasting, stepped forward, and used their contracted weapons to pierce the Heartdeer's shoulder blades and limb joints, pinning the demon to the ground.

The power of the Vishanti on the contracted weapon was like a scorching heat to the demon. The Heart Demon howled in agony while cursing loudly in the language of hell. Mordo impatiently kicked the Heart Demon in the chin, silencing him temporarily. This prince of hell was truly weak and stupid—compared to other extradimensional beings, that was indeed the case.

The stowaway from hell had been caught, but the matter didn't end there. While the other mages were searching for Johnny Blaze's girlfriend, the mage Hamil arrived in town with another group of mages. When he told Mordo about the situation on the other side, Mordo's expression turned grim.

"What's wrong?" Kasirius walked over. As the most outstanding sorcerer in Kamar-Taj, he was entitled to hear confidential information. Salomon followed behind him, as he was seen by everyone as a candidate for the next Sorcerer Supreme.

According to the sorcerer Hamil, when they arrived at the chapel, the location of the divination for the contract, it had already been ransacked, with only the previous Ghost Rider, Catsley, lying on the ground, barely clinging to life. When the old Ghost Rider saw the sorcerers, he assumed they were also there to steal the contract, and he uttered a string of phrases like "I won't give the contract to an evil person like you" and "the devil's lackey," until the sorcerer Hamil revealed Catsley's true identity, which finally convinced the old Ghost Rider somewhat.

Furthermore, the sorcerer Hamil informed Carter Slay that the new Ghost Rider wouldn't be arriving that night, as the ordinary people had already held him back, and everything would have to be handled by Kamar-Taj. But no matter what Hamil said, Carter Slay refused to reveal the location of the contract, only saying that he wanted to face the devil himself and atone for his mistakes—Hamiel agreed. Carter Slay, seemingly without any other weapons, grabbed a shotgun and, along with the sorcerers, passed through the portal to San Venganza.

The scene here seemed to give Carter Slay a sense of déjà vu. Just as he was lost in thought, several mages approached with a brown-skinned Latina woman whose arms bore dark purple marks. This was Rosanne, Johnny Blaze's girlfriend. Kasirius squinted at Rosanne, then nudged Salomon with his elbow, signaling him to turn around—Salomon turned and gave him a disdainful look.

"My girlfriend has a hotter body, Cassirios, don't bother me while I'm doing my business," Salomon said, gently pushing Cassirios's elbow away, somewhat annoyed.

Having a girlfriend doesn't stop you from registering on Pornhub using my identity!

"Shut up! Didn't we agree not to tell anyone?"

"You need to learn to appreciate the beauty in life... Damn it, you're still a minor!"

"Are you Johnny's girlfriend?" Carter Slade, with his full head of white hair, took off his hat and held it to his chest. "It's bad to meet under these circumstances. Don't worry, they all know who Johnny is."

Rosanne seemed not yet to have recovered from the shock, but out of professional habit, she took a few deep breaths and quickly calmed down.

"Okay." She glanced at the people around her; neither Mordo nor Kasirios were the best people to ask. She turned to Salomon and asked, "Where's Johnny?"

"He was admiring the best ass in America. Don't worry, not the Kardashians, but Captain America." Salomon only told part of the story, making no mention of his own support for S.H.I.E.L.D.'s actions. "He was stopped by S.H.I.E.L.D. for speeding. And Carter Slade, you should go see what happened to the Witchheart before you can confidently hand over the contract to us—those tainted souls must be purified."
