Chapter 196 Everyone Has Their Own Plans

Chapter 196 Everyone Has Their Own Plans (Second Update!)

Salomon was naturally unaware of Nick Fury and Coulson's private schemes, and knew nothing of the so-called psychiatrist, though even if he did, he probably wouldn't care. But one thing Nick Fury and Coulson were right about: he wouldn't show any mercy to the agents who disturbed his life. Even if he didn't kill them, and the agents weren't Hydra, turning them into idiots was something he could do—but right now, the round onion in front of him was far more important than S.H.I.E.L.D.'s questioning.

Today, the apartment is welcoming a guest after a long absence: Salomon's chosen university tutor. Athena rejected Salomon's intention to apply to Oxford College for archaeology and theology, because both Kamar-Taj and Athena's possessions are countless, and Athena herself is a renowned artist. She clearly didn't want Salomon to study what he had already learned; she knew he was just trying to slack off. As for theology, it was out of the question. Although Salomon's grades were excellent, he had never been baptized, so attending theology would be useless.

Athena wanted Salomon to enter the Institute of Mathematics, or to delve into any modern science, rather than endlessly poring over old texts and composing phrases—in which no one was more professional than Athena and the spellcaster. The Venerable One had no objection, for in Salomon's secular education, the Venerable One was no more authoritative than Athena, and given Athena's status as his "foster mother," Salomon had even less reason to object.

So he found himself an astrophysics tutor specializing in applied physics. This tutor had met Salomon once before; after Thor descended to Earth, she became an honorary professor at Oxford University based on her SCI-indexed papers and was vying for the Nobel Prize in Physics based on her research on the Einstein-Rosen bridge theory. Such a brilliant tutor was more than capable of mentoring Salomon, and the sorcerer had only secured the internship through connections. Once he passed his A-level exams, he could become an undergraduate in astrophysics.

Even this formidable mentor was hesitant and awkward at the dinner table, and even the intern next to her only dared to slowly reach for the cookies on the plate after repeated attempts. This was entirely because the two witches sitting at the table possessed such a powerful aura; their perfect figures and appearances could psychologically overwhelm anyone.

Bayonetta maintained a constant smile, while Joan of Arc remained aloof. The host and guest had absolutely nothing to talk about, and the atmosphere was almost frozen—until the Cheshire Cat, wearing an Elizabethan collar, jumped onto the table, at which point the atmosphere eased slightly.

"Ha, a cat! There's a cat here! Hello, cutie~" Darcy laughed, trying to scratch the Cheshire Cat's chin. After the Asgardian invasion, she planned to switch from social sciences to applied physics, and was currently studying under Jane Foster. After receiving the invitation, she also pestered Jane Foster, because she also knew some of the inside story and wanted to see what a wizard's house was like—however, she could only be sure that she was in New York, but not her exact location, because Salomon had directly used a portal to bring them to the living room.

"What is this?" Jane Foster asked. "Have you done some kind of genetic experiment on the cats...? Sorry, I didn't mean to question you... I just... it's a good scientific advancement, gene editing..."

"Jane, relax." Darcy had completely relaxed. She patted her tutor on the shoulder. "This is magic! Ever since my mom forgot me in the shopping cart by the supermarket entrance, I've been hoping a wizard would come and take me to magic school. This cat must be the Cheshire Cat from the fairy tales; it can talk! Look, it's looking down on me, it can hear me, it's a magical cat!"

"Last time you said you were sold in a cardboard box!" Jane Foster couldn't help but retort. "And the time before that, you said your mother's boyfriend used you to trade for drug pins! And the time before that, you said..."

"Don't be so bothered by it." Darcy shook her head. "Anyway, I don't remember much, because I took a drag of my mother's cigarette. Don't be so rigid, it's magic, you know what that means? It means Hogwarts exists! Salomon Damonette must have passed his exams and gone to continue his studies. When he comes out of the kitchen, I'm going to ask him a lot of questions about the wizarding world!"

Joan of Arc's expression was almost strained; she now really liked Darcy, and her boundless imagination. Bayonetta felt the same way; compared to the nervous Jane Foster, Darcy was far more endearing. What puzzled the witches was that Salomon declared his high regard for Jane Foster wasn't based on her relationship with Thor, but on her own abilities. According to Salomon, Jane Foster possessed immense potential.

"There's no magic! The Asgardians are just aliens..."

"Sirloin steak, served with beef broth sauce." Salomon fiddled with his wand, moving the prepared lunch from the kitchen to the table. "Thanks to the Stark Industries for their generosity, I've taken all of their beef. In addition to the meat main course, there's also a fruit ice cream dessert and a pot of black tea. You won't be disappointed."

After saying that, he waved his wand again and added a small floret of broccoli to each plate of beef. "This is to maintain a balanced diet."

"Wow!" Darcy couldn't help but exclaim, "You must be from Hufflepuff School!"

"Darcy!" Jane Foster couldn't help but stop the intern's embarrassing behavior.

"It's alright." Salomon sat down in the chair. "I like to use magic to process food; it saves a lot of time."

"Uh, excuse me, Mr. Damonette," Jane Foster asked awkwardly, "I wanted to ask about how the Rainbow Bridge you mentioned works and your teleportation portal..."

"It's lunchtime now. Academic discussions can wait until afternoon tea; we'll go to Norway for afternoon tea," the sorcerer interrupted Jane Foster's question. He continued, "And what took you from London to New York wasn't technology, it was magic. There's no need to deny that magic exists. Magic and science are two parallel lines exploring the truth of the world, neither superior nor inferior. Just now, you witnessed magic firsthand; the little stick in my hand doesn't have integrated circuits or a power source."

"I……"

"That's just prejudice," Joan of Arc said dismissively. "Stubborn little girl."

"Then why do you want to study applied physics, and why did you ask me to be your tutor?" Jane Foster asked somewhat awkwardly. "You should be able to find a better tutor. If you don't mind, I can introduce you to my tutor, Eric Scharvig..."

"I'm just trying to explore the truth of the world. Being too superstitious about science or magic can make one stubborn, and I happen to be the more flexible one." The sorcerer winked playfully. "As for why I chose you as my tutor, it's simply because you happen to be in the know. You know I'm very busy, so it should be easier to ask for leave with you. Don't worry, Darcy, as long as you help me write my thesis, I'll definitely give you the magical skincare products I promised."

"Very good!"

"Can you go to Asgard?" Jane Foster suddenly became anxious; her attention was clearly not on the essay writing service. "You were there when Thor came to Earth..."

"It is indeed my responsibility to handle diplomatic affairs with Asgard, madam. But you don't need to worry too much. Thor is currently suppressing rebellions in other realms of the Nine Realms, and you will see him again soon."

"I think Salomon chose you as his mentor for more than just those reasons," Bayonetta suddenly interjected. "He believes you have great potential. This potential has nothing to do with Thor; he's simply concerned about humanity's potential to greatly benefit human development."

Why?

"Because it's my duty. Okay, let's enjoy this delicious meal, or the steak will get cold."

------------

"Why didn't you tell Jane Foster the real reason?" After seeing the guests off, Bayonetta immediately questioned Salomon, her intuition telling her there was definitely something wrong. The witch narrowed her eyes, asking with a languid and suspicious tone, "And I think you seem to know something, little one. You're definitely hiding some information, just like you hid things from me back then."

"If she can't grow without Thor, then she's worthless. The Einstein-Rosen bridge theory needs many people to perfect it; it's not that it can't function without her." The sorcerer abandoned his usual gentle demeanor towards guests, adopting a pragmatic approach to evaluating Jane Foster. "What I value is her ability to lift Thor's hammer, but this Jane Foster isn't the same person she is now, which means..."

"So, you want her to possess Thor's hammer and seize Thor's power?"

"You could say that," Salomon laughed. "The more forces that stand with humanity, the better. Only in this way can we successfully cope with future crises."
