Chapter 202 A Variety of Curses

Chapter 202 A Variety of Curses (Second Update!)

Today was an incredibly strange day for Sharon Carter, because she had recently seen her boss and the person she was monitoring enter the same house, accompanied by an unidentified teenager. She hadn't received any prior notice, and she didn't know the teenager's identity, but she assumed that since her boss was there, she could finally rest for the day—however, she was wrong.

The old house wasn't very soundproof, and Sharon Carter heard muffled arguing coming from the room she was monitoring. After a while, the arguing subsided, and just when she thought it was over, she heard a series of loud bangs, punches landing, and heavy breathing. The sounds initially made her very nervous, thinking that both the target and the director had been attacked, but after waiting a while, she realized the sounds hadn't stopped. Suddenly, her face flushed—could it be? Did the director and Captain America have some kind of unhealthy relationship? That boy was quite handsome; could he be someone the director hired…? No, no, she couldn't think like that! Captain America is attracted to women, and his aunt, Peggy Carter, was Steve Rogers' lover, wasn't she? But why hadn't the sounds stopped? Could it be…?

The door slammed open, and Sharon Carter, peering through the peephole, saw Steve Rogers grab Nick Fury by the collar with his left hand and Salomon by the back of his collar with his right. He twisted them out of the room like a crab. She saw several scratches on the chief's face; the chief and the teenager were still arguing, wildly waving their hands as if trying to scratch each other's faces. Steve Rogers reluctantly separated them, but the profanity continued unabated—she couldn't believe that the boy with the British accent would use so many seemingly polite, yet truly vile, adjectives to describe Nick Fury.

If words had power, Nick Fury, in the boy's mouth, had degenerated from a primate to an even-toed ungulate, and then to a single-celled organism engaged in photosynthesis. Nick Fury, on the other hand, excelled in American slang; his past street-smart background gave him a rhythmic and expressive accent. He could finish three sentences in the time it took the boy to finish one, speaking so fast it was difficult to understand.

"I wanted to address the issue at hand, but you stubbornly refuse to admit it!" Salomon said angrily. "So what if you don't admit it? He has the right to think independently!"

"You're a sociopath! You damn little bastard!" Nick Fury was also furious. He had tried everything to guard against Salomon, but the little rascal seemed to be everywhere. "I'm arresting you!" he said. "You stole S.H.I.E.L.D. secrets! You little bastard, spend two days in jail!"

"Alright, alright, stop fighting here." Steve Rogers was incredibly patient. He didn't know why these two had suddenly started wrestling like children. By the time he realized what was happening, Nick Fury already had several scratches on his face. Fortunately, neither of them was serious. Nick Fury didn't pull out a gun, and Salomon Damonette didn't draw his wand.

"Huh? I wasn't even planning on using magic to teach you a lesson! You think S.H.I.E.L.D. can hold me? Don't you want your Trisolaran headquarters anymore? You idiot with only one life die! You half-cooked pig's head! You're just a worthless Jack Potato! You're just a trash NPC!" Salomon struggled repeatedly, but he was like a cat being grabbed by the scruff of its neck, his feet not touching the ground, swaying back and forth, unable to reach Nick Fury, unable to add a few scratches to his face. "You've angered me, Nick Fury!" His voice suddenly changed, sending chills down the spine of the listener. "Now, I curse you... you'll suffer from an uncontrollable itching on your skin [Note 1], precious metals you touch will turn into base metals [Note 2], you'll lose your agility, like an old man in his twilight years [Note 3]..."

"You little brat! You actually cursed me? Are you serious?" Nick Fury struggled repeatedly, but found that Captain America had no intention of letting go. Steve Rogers, though unaware of what had happened, believed that Salomon certainly didn't have any bad intentions; it was definitely Nick Fury who started the trouble. Captain America released the indignant Salomon and shielded the shouting Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. behind him.

"Son," he said gently, "I don't know if your curse is real or not, but Nick Fury is important..."

"That'll teach him a lesson, otherwise he'll keep trying to scheme against me. I haven't forgotten about the Asgardians; that guy's ability to exploit loopholes in contracts is almost demonic." The sorcerer straightened his collar, saying with a disgruntled expression, "The first two curses took effect quickly and didn't last long. Nick Fury, remember, I also know dark magic, and I'm extremely skilled at it. This little bit of dark magic is nothing; you haven't seen truly terrifying dark magic yet!"

"Asgardians? What Asgardians? Nick Fury, what are you hiding from me?" Steve Rogers asked, and no one answered him.

"What about the last curse? Am I supposed to hide from spinning wheels for the rest of my life?" Nick Fury seemed to have calmed down, but his tone still revealed his dissatisfaction.

"Ha, the last curse... you'd better deal with it yourself. If the first two curses don't work, the last one will. It's a permanent curse, so don't even think I'll help you break it."

"Then I'll go find a medium!"

"Incompetent mediums can't solve this, and capable mediums dare not. You'd better watch yourself! If you try to scheme against me again, you'd better think twice about today!"

"Okay, okay, stop arguing here. If you promise not to argue, we'll go inside and talk, okay?"

"Have you counted how many agents you've killed? The only place you should be is a mental hospital!" Nick Fury said angrily. "You're a destabilizing force in society! And why the hell do I feel this itchy... lift the curse now!"

"This is your punishment! And you were the one who sent people to attack me on my way to school!" Salomon was furious at the mention of it. "But you didn't even dare to admit it!"

Steve Rogers stared in disbelief, his eyes wide. "You sent a team to attack a child?" he demanded of Nick Fury. "Is this how you operate?"

"See? I told you, this is the rude America! They have absolutely no logical thinking! America is far from being civilized!" Salomon sneered.

"I didn't! Damn it! I'll say it several times, I absolutely did not give the action team authorization to use lethal weapons!" the S.H.I.E.L.D. director retorted impatiently. "I just wanted them to find you and then interview you! Besides, S.H.I.E.L.D. is a global organization, not affiliated with the United States!"

"You believe that kind of talk? How much funding did you receive from the US? What kind of negotiations did you use, bullets? If I didn't have that ability, I'd be dead already! Do you think I don't have scores to settle with you?"

"Okay, let's calm down... kid... don't do this..." Captain America tried to mediate with a helpless expression, but Nick Fury and Salomon's tempers flared up, and their argument even involved who ate more popcorn!

Steve Rogers covered his face. Whatever, it doesn't matter, as long as they don't start fighting.

Today was an incredibly magical day for Sharon Carter, in every sense of the word. She never imagined her boss would get into a fight like a street thug. Keeping this amusing secret was extremely painful, so she decided to confide in her aunt.

----------------

"I was so stupid, really." Salomon sat on the sofa. He sighed, and the fat cat in his arms sighed in mock disapproval. "I should have destroyed S.H.I.E.L.D., destroyed Trisolaris headquarters with Excalibur, that would have saved me so much trouble."

"You mean, you beat up Nick Fury?" Tony Stark was so intrigued by this that he dropped what he was doing to come and hear the story. He handed the sorcerer a bag of ice to apply to his bloodstained knuckles. "Tell me quickly, what was that bastard like when he got beaten up?"

"He was yelling so loudly! That bastard! I bet he'd skin himself alive right now!"

"How did you do that?"

"Of course it's a curse, Stark." After receiving permission from the Sorcerer Supreme, the Archmage became much bolder. He went to find Captain America to cause trouble. He wanted to see what a Captain America who didn't agree with American values would be like.

That would definitely be very interesting!

The solution to this problem... was a boxing match. Under the referee Steve Rogers, neither of them used anything beyond their capabilities, relying solely on their fists. Years of training allowed Salomon to win decisively; his speed and power after unleashing his Stigmata were far beyond what ordinary people could achieve.

"Now he's Snow White!"

P.S.: I need votes!

[Note 1] Curse of Itching

Necromantic School [Curse UM]

Ring Level: Warlock/Mage 1

You curse the target, causing it to feel a persistent, unbearable itch. Unless the target scratches the itch with a movement action, it will receive a penalty of -1 on attacks, saving throws, skill checks, and attribute checks.

[Note 2] Kalisrad's Nightmare

School of Changes [Curse UM]

You temporarily curse your target, causing any coins they touch to lose value. While cursed by this effect, if the target touches a coin worth more than one copper coin, that coin will be converted to a copper coin. This change occurs within one minute of contact, allowing the target to touch multiple coins before the curse takes effect. The original material of the affected coins (usually gold or silver) is permanently changed to copper, but removing the curse or a similar spell will restore them to their original material.

[Note 3] The Curse of the Cat

School of thought: Necromancy

Level: Priest 2, Warlock/Mage 2

You cast a curse on an enemy, causing their Dexterity to be reduced by -4 due to environmental factors; or -2 due to a successful saving throw. This applies the usual penalty to AC, Reflection saving throws, Ranged attack rolls, Initiative rolls, and other things that use Dexterity modifiers. This curse cannot be removed by spells, but can be removed by breaking enchantments, Cat Grace, Limited Wish, Miracle, Removing Curse, or Wish.
