Chapter 208 Multiverse Fishing Plan
Chapter 208 The Multiverse Fishing Plan (Second Update!)
"Agent Romanoff is in danger!" Nick Fury grabbed Salomon's shoulder armor and pulled him down the steps. Although bullets couldn't harm the arcane mage, Nick Fury didn't want to take the risk. Salomon Damonette was too important; he had to ensure the mage's safety. "Tell me..." he said, "You have a way to stop the Hulk! I know you do!"
"You guessed right. So, which one do you want?" Salomon secretly reached under the table, picked up the book, and hugged it to his chest. Salomon already had a plan for dealing with the Hulk. He had many ways to handle this muscle-bound guy. For example, he could use enchanting spells to control his emotions, forcing Bruce Banner to calm down. Without anger as a source of energy, the Hulk would be forced to revert back to his original form. Another method was to use shapeshifting to turn the Hulk into some harmless little animal. However, Salomon wasn't sure if these spells would actually work, because the Hulk's physique was simply too powerful. His endless anger and beast-like instincts might even resist the spells (a immunity to spells).
"Which one? I want them both! Hurry up!" Nick Fury rolled his eyes, then saw Salomon sitting there, simply gesturing with his hands to indicate that the task was complete. "I sent you to rescue Agent Romanoff," the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. said exasperatedly. "I know you have a portal! Go save her! She's with Hulk right now!"
"I told you, I did it." Salomon winked. "Hulk is freefalling right now. Don't worry, it's one of my specialties."
"Sir... Dr. Banner has disappeared," Agent Romanov's voice came through the headset. "But here... here, broken glass has appeared out of nowhere..."
Salomon shrugged, meeting Nick Fury's gaze. There were indeed many ways to deal with the Hulk, but he would use the simplest and safest one—why not just throw that brainless guy into the Mirror Dimension? Things there are immune to destruction; he could just release him when the Hulk got bored.
"I just don't understand your tricks," the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. grumbled a few times in dissatisfaction. "Once I figure it out, I'll teach you a lesson, you little bastard."
"In fact, I've already completed the first part of my work. Negotiating with the Asgardians was my first part, and I think it's time to leave." The arcane mage picked up a deformed bullet from the ground and gently tossed it onto Nick Fury's head. "I don't want those traitorous agents ruining my job."
"I'll get you excused from school, and I'll have an agent do your homework for you!"
"I refuse, I'm a student." Salomon shook his head, picked up his longsword and books, and stood up, completely ignoring the impolite bullets hurtling towards him. He had already cast two spells on himself: one to protect against arrows and the other to reflect them. At least until he was hit head-on by a few bullets, the effects of these spells wouldn't disappear. He even deliberately moved closer to the bullets' trajectories, just to see which unlucky soul would be hit by the reflected bullets.
"No!" Nick Fury cried out, "I need you!"
"This is the first time I've heard that from a man. I have to say, it's a bit disgusting." The sorcerer shook his head and said in a comforting tone, "Don't worry, things will be resolved. You won't die in a place like this."
"A place like this? This is a Helicarrier! Is this place shabby?" Nick Fury was momentarily speechless. "Then could you lend a hand? Agent Hill is injured, could you go and treat her? Or could you help me clear out those armed men?"
"But this is not my job."
Please.
Salomon glared at Nick Fury, then shoved a bottle of minor injury treatment into Agent Hill's mouth, who was still dazed from the grenade blast. He didn't mind doing this little favor; he just wanted to hear Nick Fury's humble pleas—it was amusing, and something he never heard from witches. Otherwise, his sadistic tendencies would have been quickly corrected by Bayonetta with her little whip. The arcane mage swaggered out of the bridge after slinging his sword over his shoulder and storing his books in his dimensional pouch. Just as the armed personnel approaching from around the corner were about to fire, two intertwined beams of bright white light slammed him against the wall like a hammer. (Magic Blast)
The sorcerer picked up the rifle, pretended to inspect it, and then carried it down the stairs to retrieve Agent Romanov. The operation went smoothly; none of the armed men he encountered were a match for him. As he entered the lower engine room, he found Agent Romanov dragging someone upstairs.
"Is this the flying monkey?" Salomon raised an eyebrow. This was Nick Fury's analogy; Salomon had just seen the 1939 version of "The Wizard of Oz," a classic film.
"It's not the flying monkey, it's Legolas," Agent Romanov said with a smile. "This is Clint, it's a pity he can't say hello to you right now."
"I didn't know you were a Lord of the Rings fan," the arcane mage chuckled. "I'm here to pick you up. To be honest, I'm terrible with guns. All my bullets hit the walls, and the ricochets even hit my armor. In the end, my fists were more effective. Let me see your injuries. I heard you fell from the upper levels. The side effects of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s fast-healing bone-repairing drugs are too severe (from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the kind Daisy takes). My alchemical potions are much better."
"I'm fine." Agent Romanov shook his head. "I wanted to ask if you have a way to break free from mind control?"
"What did you do?"
I hit him hard on the head.
"Loki's enchanting spells are very simple and brutal, so the solution is equally simple and brutal." Salomon handed her a small glass bottle with a brass neck. "This is smelling salt. If you think he's still under mind control, put this under his nose... You should know how to use it."
"I do know, and I suspect that making Clint smell the salts was a prank on you; he's already had enough to suffer for." Agent Romanov looked at Salomon suspiciously. "Do you have something else on your mind?"
"I should go. Loki has already left, and I'm off to my next mission."
"So eager?"
"It's too late if we don't leave now. Don't hate me, Nick Fury is hiding a lot from you, you'll find out later."
Shortly after Salomon opened the portal and left, Agent Romanov received a message from Nick Fury through his earpiece. "Agent Romanov, where is Salomon Damonette?" Nick Fury asked anxiously. "We need him."
"He's already left, sir. He said he's going on to carry out his next mission."
"Bring him back quickly! Agent Coulson has been killed, we need him!"
Agent Romanoff was startled; she suspected Salomon already knew about this. But what she couldn't understand was why Salomon, who clearly possessed such abilities and had even tested them on her, would refuse to do so. Wasn't Agent Coulson his friend? And what did "Don't hate me" mean? Did Nick Fury have some kind of plan?
"See you next time, Agent Coulson." Salomon sat in a street-side café, enjoying his tea and dessert. He raised his teacup and gestured towards the sky. He needed Agent Coulson to go underground, which coincided with Nick Fury's plans, but Salomon knew more. He needed Agent Coulson to experience a grand adventure through time and space, which was of great importance to Salomon's research on the multiverse.
But that's for the future; right now, he's planning to capture some travelers from other parallel universes.
This is a great opportunity to visit other parallel universes.
