Chapter 232 Only Delicious Food Should Not Be Missed (Second Update! Please Vote!!)
Mordo was somewhat impatient with his junior brother, as examining the Cosmic Cauldron was a difficult task, and he was displeased with Salomon's flippant attitude towards the artifact. However, just as he was about to explain the Cosmic Cauldron's origins, he remembered Salomon's photographic memory, and could only swallow his words in frustration. Meanwhile, Kasirius returned with his sorcerers, their spoils including, but not limited to, several surviving but insane cultists, a pile of cryptic texts filled with incoherent ramblings, and several dark magic artifacts. It was the Sorcerer Supreme who had summoned them back; the cults in Canada had been largely eradicated, and it was time to refocus their attention on Hell.
"How come you're the only one acting like a sorcerer, while I look like a barbarian?" Kasirius couldn't help but complain after learning that Salomon had created Homunculus. Compared to the sorcerer system of Kamar-Taj, Salomon's magic was more like the spells from legends, to the point that Kasirius couldn't help but wonder what he had actually learned all these years. Salomon, upon hearing this, innocently spread his hands—the biggest difference between him and the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj was that he was a theory enthusiast.
Other mages wanted to learn powerful magic, but Salomon was only interested in any magical phenomenon. With his current abilities, as long as he had a teammate who could withstand beatings, a survival expert who could find food anywhere, a healing spellcaster, and a ranger or thief, he could embark on a journey like the adventurers in stories. As long as he didn't go to Bloodbath, the Astral Plane, Dragon's Lair, or the sewers of Waterdeep, he could probably handle it—and if some fool thought he was the team's weakness and tried to ambush him at close range, that person's fate would likely be quite comical.
However, that was before he created the androids. Now, his safety is the responsibility of the android Dina. The sturdy alchemical skeleton and powerful alchemical engine allow the android to lift huge, heavy blades and swing them at extremely high speeds for hours on end without stopping. Salomon intends to hand over the shield given to him by Athena to the android, believing that only if the android's reactions are fast enough will no one be able to break through Aegis's defenses.
"You all know what Mephisto's avatar, the demonic offspring left behind on Earth, intends to do," the Sorcerer Supreme said, seated behind a low table to the arcane mages below who had accepted their mission. "This mission is special. I cannot provide support for your actions because of the agreement I made with Mephisto. If I intervene, I must return the avatar to Mephisto's original self. However, you are not bound by this contract, and Mephisto has no choice, as His bottom line is that His avatar cannot usurp His power. You are free to act as you see fit."
"What should we do with that demon?" Cassirios asked the crucial question.
"I said you are free to do as you please. You can kill that demonic offspring to prevent him from inheriting the demonic blood, or you can let him go," the Sorcerer Supreme waved his hand, not taking the demonic offspring's fate to heart. It wouldn't be impossible for someone to bring the demonic offspring back to Kamar-Taj for education, but the result would be that the demonic offspring would be tortured to death due to the conflict between the demonic blood within him and the positive energy of the Vishanti; releasing the demonic offspring wouldn't be impossible either, but the demonic offspring would spontaneously acquire magic as he grows, and the more magic he acquires, the more addicted he will become to the power of the demonic blood, leading to his corruption. If one day the demonic offspring suddenly summons Mephisto to Earth, the Sorcerer Supreme wouldn't be surprised at all.
It now seems that following the will of fate is the best outcome, but the Venerable One still wants to test whether his disciple can defy fate.
"Modo will oversee this operation, with Kasirios in charge of the combat," the Venerable One said casually, yawning. "Also, Salomon, remember to bring Phoenix. You'll encounter Ghost Riders on this mission, and Phoenix's banishment spells will be very helpful. This is a long mission, Salomon, my dear disciple, and I don't want you to fail your test because of this."
A few chuckles erupted from the crowd. Salomon turned around, but couldn't tell who was laughing at him. There was nothing he could do; he was the only official arcane mage in Kamar-Taj still in high school. He was powerless against such mockery, and could only roll his eyes, showering everyone with his contempt.
His expression was then mocked, and the Sorcerer Supreme stopped them before they could fight.
After the other sorcerers left, Salomon sat down at the low table, and the Sorcerer Supreme casually took out the snacks he had been hiding behind his back. "Master, you've eaten too much candy," Salomon said helplessly. The Sorcerer Supreme and he had been betting on snacks from the refrigerator for many years, and so far, the Sorcerer Supreme had always won. Therefore, the Sorcerer Supreme had consumed far more sugar than Salomon, and Salomon couldn't help but worry about his master's blood sugar.
"You're just as boring as Mordo." The Sorcerer Supreme stuffed a watermelon-flavored inflatable candy into his mouth, then popped one into his disciple's mouth as well, silencing Salomon's next rambling. "The Tibetans down the mountain have finished making their dried beef; remember to go down and buy some. And yak butter too. We live so high up, we need to eat something high in calories. I think yak butter-fried mutton would be good; remember to add some chili."
"Don't lie to me, teacher! How could a protective spell let the cold wind in? Besides, living high up isn't the reason you're eating so much candy!"
"Oh dear, you've been found out." The Venerable raised his eyebrows in a mocking manner. "Anyway, just remember to buy some dried beef. You loved eating dried beef even before you had teeth, or rather, you loved watching it, since I ended up eating it all. Oh, and spicy mutton head and spicy tripe too. Most importantly, remember to buy some matsutake mushrooms; we can grill them ourselves."
"That means I have to drink three bowls of butter tea at each household after I go down the mountain. The last senior monk who went came back with diarrhea, and I don't think my stomach can handle so much oil." Although Salomon doesn't like overly greasy food, butter tea is still within his acceptable range, but the amount is just too much, and butter also has a laxative effect—because Kama Takji has been helping Tibetans treat illnesses or doing chores for many years, the overly enthusiastic Tibetans will pull the shamans into their homes without explanation. And local custom requires that they must drink three bowls of butter tea before leaving, so the shamans who go down the mountain to buy supplies often come back with diarrhea.
"The Tibetans treat us like monks. Just recite a Buddhist scripture for them. I know you can recite it. Do you think I don't know that you torture others with the Great Compassion Mantra when you're playing games?" The Venerable Master decided to send his disciple down the mountain to build good relations with the Tibetans so that he could buy more delicious food.
This is absolutely not to prevent the other sorcerers from discovering that the Sorcerer Supreme is secretly eating snacks, absolutely not!
As Salomon was about to descend the mountain to perform his ritual after leaving the meditation room, a cryptic monk called out to him. "Remember to buy some Gamba mutton; we haven't had hot pot this year! Alright, stop pretending. Apart from Modu, everyone knows what the Supreme Master wants to eat," the cryptic monk said. "And by the way, drink less butter tea."
"I know you, the senior with diarrhea!"
