Chapter 298 Exorcism

Chapter 298 Exorcism (First Update)

"Throughout human history, there are actually very few cases of humans being possessed by demons. Compared to the time-consuming and laborious process of spirit possession, descending to the material plane achieves the goal much faster. Moreover, once a demon finds someone to bewitch and possess, it usually spends a great deal of time on that person, ensuring that they will fall into hell and become a treacherous creature in its pocket, just like your mother. Therefore, most of the so-called demon possession stories in church records are nonsense, except this one... is something I have never seen before."

Salomon carefully examined the interior of the one-eyed skull on the gleaming metal desk that reflected a cold, white light. Through the lamplight, he could clearly see the back of the dark, alien skull's head. Even though he had smeared the skull's surface with demonic blood—the blood of Mephisto's two offspring and Marduk's two offspring—the twisted flesh and bloodshot yellow eyeballs he had expected were nowhere to be seen. He even brought his eyes close to the eyeholes riddled with radial scratches, but could only see his own fingers sticking out from under the skull's chin.

"Is there anything you haven't seen before?" The sorcerer's low muttering piqued Anna's curiosity. "I thought you knew a lot of things."

"There are a lot." Salomon clicked his tongue, placing the alien skeleton on the table. "Otherwise, why do you think I'd bother explaining the basics of lower-dimensional beings to you? By the way, where's the special contract I wanted you to sign with Damon?"

"Here." Anna narrowed her eyes and pulled two parchment sheets from a wooden drawer behind her. The parchment, covered in black writing, trembled in her hand. "This is what you wanted." She smiled like a fox, her eyes mirroring her, as if her demonic blood was being ignited. "Unfortunately, I can read Latin. This contract is in effect forever, and the most prominent clause is: calling upon a lower plane to the Material Plane constitutes a breach of contract. Now you can explain, Salomon—what are you doing?"

"I'm coercing you." Salomon placed the bolt pistol at his waist, pointing the muzzle at Anna, and bluntly stated the current situation. Marduk's daughter could even smell the gunpowder. "Don't sign, or die. This is a contract that all demons have signed. As time goes on, your demonic blood will awaken, and it's a foregone conclusion that you will gain summoning magic. I want you to sign this contract. The contract is very detailed: you can summon, but you can't call upon others."

"What's the difference?"

"Yes," Salomon's tone rose with a hint of pleasure. This difference was evident in the survival of the witches and the death of the sages, and in the similar contract Bayonetta and Jeanne had signed. "Summoned extradimensional beings can only stay for a limited time, while summoned extradimensional beings can exist indefinitely and summon their subordinates to the Prime Material Plane... For example, this skull died on the Prime Material Plane after being summoned. It's rare to see extradimensional beings killed on the Prime Material Plane now. The bones and skin of those lower-dimensional beings killed on Earth in the past should now be used to make magical items for some wizards."

The arcane mage's bolter remained motionless as he placed his finger on the trigger, his cheerful tone vanishing.

"You'd better sign a contract," he said. "I'm sorry, I have to."

"I'll sign the contract, don't be nervous. Tsk, you guys are so emotional." Anna glared at Salomon, her expression as if she'd been punched in the stomach. "Once this is over, I'll have Damon sign the contract too."

"Very well, let's get back to the skeleton." After seeing that Anna had written her name on the contract, Salomon put away the bolter and continued his instruction to Anna.

"Extradimensional beings killed in this dimension will be reborn in their own plane. Demons will be reborn in Hell, monsters in the Abyss, and angels in Heaven. So after Kamar-Taj was established, we generally chose to kill them in their own planes, so that they would die completely," the arcane mage said. "This should be the remains left behind after a lower-dimensional being that descended to the Material Plane was killed. The question is, to whom does it belong? I can't deduce it from the shape of the skull, because the forms of lower-dimensional beings are countless."

"Isn't there a fixed one?"

"It's hard to say, ma'am. Demons' appearances are somewhat predictable, but succubi's appearances are quite random. Anyway, being succubi and lustful demons, no lower-level creature cares about their appearance," Salomon asked Anna, who was sitting beside him. "Do you know any carbon-14 dating agencies?"

"I've done the tests; this skull is over two thousand years old, but it was found in an catacombs in the United States. Along with it, its body and a book filled with blasphemous words were also found."

"Then this skeleton was most likely moved here by someone else. I need to check the development of European devil and demon worship cults in America. This thing might have been missed during the Kamar-Taj cleanup," Salomon said. "Two thousand years is enough time for it to be reborn and come back for revenge. I think your father... I'm sorry, Marduk is probably involved in this."

"What about my partner?" Anna asked, pointing to a man strapped to a chair. The man's once-neat suit was now wrinkled, his eyes were clouded with a frenzied light, and cold sweat poured from his forehead. Before Anna could gag him, he was still babbling nonsense like "I hear it talking to me" and "It needs a soul," and he had bitten his lips until they were covered in cuts.

"This thing is very strange." Anna glanced at her partner with concern. "He somehow got bitten by a skeleton. He's been bewitched, and I'd like to ask you to exorcise him."

“He’s not possessed, Anna.” Salomon glanced at the bound Asian man before returning to his work. He took out a vial of potion from his dimensional bag and washed away the demonic blood from the skeleton. He then took out another vial and applied a drop to the surface of the alien skeleton. “If this thing truly possesses some kind of power, the best way to deal with it is to destroy it.”

"What should we use?"

Salomon pointed his chin at the skull, and Anna saw wisps of almost invisible black smoke seeping out from the gaps above the skull's head. Then she heard a series of faint curses and wails. The metal table on which the skull rested trembled. Salomon placed his palm on its skull, and finely ground diamond dust flowed into the skull like water.

The sorcerer chanted the incantation, his voice like rolling thunder from above, with many accents in his tone. His incantation sounded as if millions of people were singing in unison, and the resonance of the sound made the gray ceiling of the basement and the cold-toned light bulbs sway precariously.

Anna stepped aside, leaving her partner and the skull in the white light emanating from Salomon's hands. As the light shone, her partner gradually calmed down, while the screams and incantations from the alien skull grew louder and louder. Angels and demons sang in harmony, an overwhelming positive energy overflowing from Salomon's eyes, the lead singer. When Anna saw his solemn and beautiful face, she felt the pain of the alien skull and couldn't help but feel disgusted.

This is the reason for the blood of the devil, she told herself.

After a while, the chorus gradually weakened, and the white light that had been looming over the sorcerer's eyes gradually dissipated. Anna discovered that her partner had fainted.

"Don't worry." The sorcerer tidied up the tools and potions he had placed on the table. "Mortals often become unable to extricate themselves after receiving powerful enchantment spells, and forcibly saving them will leave a slight impression on their souls. But it's alright, just let him sleep it off. We still have to go to Portland."

I almost couldn't get in; my temperature was 38 degrees Celsius. It's a normal reaction after getting vaccinated to produce antibodies. I should have gotten vaccinated a day earlier; I felt so dizzy and uncomfortable.
