Chapter 337 The Dirty Adults
Chapter 337 The Dirty Adults (Second Update)
"I never expected that my disciple would be so coincidentally able to transfer Thor away." The Sorcerer Supreme took a sip of strong liquor with a gentle expression, making it seem no different from drinking a sip of tea.
"It's fortunate you informed Heimdall, otherwise this would have been too much of a coincidence," the Venerable said, setting down his cup. "I thought he had sensed my thoughts, but it was the best option at the time. I doubt this can fool Salomon, after all, I had him do this, yet he got the same result as before. I can imagine how many questions he has."
"It doesn't matter. This play isn't for your disciples, it's for Thor and Loki. You can tell him the answer, as long as he can act convincingly." The Allfather casually placed Gungnir aside. There were only three people in the room: Odin, Frigga, and the Sorcerer Supreme. Neither Sif nor Jane Foster knew about the conspiracy brewing in the adjacent room. "Those two children... they must learn to support Asgard after my 'death.'" Odin's expression was often seen on the faces of parents who hadn't realized their children's talent wasn't academics, upon seeing report cards. "Only if they unite can Asgard maintain its status as a cosmic empire. To be honest, it would be great if the Thor from the parallel universe could interact with the Thor from this world; the current Thor is receptive to advice."
Queen Frigg happily poured wine for the Sorcerer Supreme and the Allfather. She paid no attention to the conversation, even though the plan concerned her. She poured herself a glass as well.
The Venerable Master's gentle expression crumbled.
"Your parenting is absolutely terrible, Odin," the Venerable complained. "Why should I help you educate your children? You know, both Thor and Loki are about my age! Are you Asgardians' mental development really that slow?"
"Only Thor can stop Hela, but by then you'll be retired," the Allfather said patiently. "We must awaken Thor's true power, or the Nine Realms will face war again. Without Asgard, Midgard will have to confront the threat from the material universe. This mutual assistance has been going on for a long time; it's an agreement between Agamotto and me. If necessary, we'll guide Thor to make a sacrifice to obtain runes. Of course, now that you're the Sorcerer Supreme, you have the right to decide whether to do it. After all, death is just a state for us."
"Continue, continue," the Sorcerer Supreme waved his hand impatiently. "But we need to set up the scene first. I also need to modify Sif and Jane Foster's memories and add witnesses. This is a big deal, Frigga, don't you have anything to say?"
The Queen shrugged. "I'm really looking forward to seeing that kid's face when he sees me again," Frigga said with a smile. "And Loki. I'm sure he has a soft spot deep down; he might just cry his eyes out."
Odin snorted dismissively, earning him a glare from Frigga.
“Very well, Odin as well.” The Sorcerer Supreme’s words drew the gaze of the Allfather. “My disciple will also be entrusted to your education. You should tell him some of the secrets of this world that even I do not know. Only then will this deal be fair.”
"What do you want me to tell him? The reason I founded Asgard?" the Allfather asked. "Do you want him to become a god? A true god!"
His Holiness did not deny it.
"This is just a precaution," the Venerable said. "To prepare a way out for Salomon before he goes mad."
------------
The once clean, damp towel was now filthy. Dani held the towel up, carefully wiping the mud off Thor's long hair. Thor, meanwhile, sat in a chair, excitedly telling the boys around the table about his quelling of the rebellion in the Nine Realms. Mjolnir sat obediently by the corner of the table, showing no trace of his earlier anxious demeanor.
Salomon cleaned his clothes and face himself, and also asked for a wet wipe to carefully clean Phoenix's beak and claws. The only survivor in the pond was in the plastic basin that Dani had brought, enjoying the clean water and oxygen at Salomon's feet.
There was steaming hot tea and biscuits on the table. Because of Salomon's preference, only sugar was added to the tea, not milk, as he didn't like drinking cloudy things.
Dani wasn't wrong; her mother was ecstatic the moment she saw Thor, having prepared everything from tea to cookies. This avid fantasy enthusiast pulled out a stack of books and photos, demanding Thor's autograph, while Salomon was tragically ignored.
The sorcerer didn't mind the situation; in fact, it was exactly what he wanted. He took a sip of hot tea and let out a comfortable groan. "The tea I bought in America is really of terrible quality," he said, putting down his quill. "Only in England can I get Ceylon tea. The food in Asgard is too oily; I can't survive without tea. Why didn't I prepare more beforehand?"
"A nice drink." Saul took a sip as well. "But I'd still like some beer. Thank you, madam, you're too kind."
Dani's mother smiled. After handing Saul a beer, she took a deep breath, pulled up a chair, and sat opposite Salomon, flashing a reserved yet affected smile. She had the same messy red hair as Dani, and her smile was just as sweet.
Salomon then realized that he was actually the main character, and getting Thor's autograph was just a rehearsal.
Do magic schools exist in this world? At what age can one enroll?
Are there many wizards in this world? Do they all go to magic schools?
Does the Dark Lord exist in this world? Is the story of King Arthur and Merlin true?
Do wizards all need to ride broomsticks? Does Quidditch even exist in this world?
Can wands be bought in London? What is the currency in the wizarding world?
What are you doing? Magic homework? Are your professors strict? Where do magic school graduates go to work?
A barrage of questions nearly knocked Salomon off his chair. He hadn't expected Dani's mother to be so enthusiastic. She was the one who had helped bring the tarpaulin to wrap the cursed warrior's corpse; wasn't this woman afraid at all?
Especially regarding the knight in the Battle of New York, Dani's mother seemed determined to hold onto this issue, stubbornly believing that Salomon knew the knight—because where there is magic, there is Merlin, and where there is Merlin, there is King Arthur—but given such a warm welcome, Salomon couldn't very well claim to be the knight himself to deceive everyone.
Wait, aren't I that knight?
Salomon lowered his head in distress and continued writing silently on the parchment. Dani's mother wasn't angry at Salomon's rudeness; on the contrary, she became even more interested in his surroundings. Especially Salomon's face—it seemed increasingly familiar to her.
Damn, I almost forgot I had to go to work.
