Chapter 344 A Little Trouble

Chapter 344 A Little Trouble (First Update)

"Boss, remember to collect DNA samples from the Asgardian soldiers! More, the experiments will suffer losses!" Maya Hansen roared on the phone, so much so that Salomon had to find a place to hide after returning to London to avoid being overheard. The matter of the Immortal City absolutely could not be exposed so easily. If necessary, he even considered building a base on the moon—as long as Stark had a reliable construction team.

"And Thor's, that's the most important!" Maya Hansen was so angry she was confused.

She hadn't expected her boss to return to Earth without even informing her; she only learned of Salomon's return while watching television. She was also filled with despair at Salomon's slowness—this was the downside of having an inexperienced boss! These were Asgardians, the race with the strongest known physical strength! She would go insane if her boss failed to procure some genetic material for her research!

Without Asgardian genetic samples, she had no idea how to complete Salomon's cyborg warrior project. Salomon's demands were too high; he wanted warriors who could fight alongside him into Hell, fearless and undaunted. To this end, Maya Hansen devised a series of plans, but due to a lack of materials, experiments had yet to begin.

As for manpower—she's currently teaching biology to those Druids.

"Didn't you open the refrigerator?"

"What?" Maya Hansen's eyes widened. "What refrigerator?"

He lowered his voice. "The refrigerator in my office. Thor's blood sample, labeled and hidden in the innermost compartment, I used magic to keep those cells alive... Or did you just open my refrigerator to find some fruit?"

After a while, Salomon heard footsteps going upstairs, followed by the sounds of rummaging through drawers and panting.

"Um... anyway, I'm so glad you supported my research, you really are the best boss!" Maya Hansen said excitedly, seemingly having found the blood sample preserved by Salomon. Then, as if realizing something, her tone quickly turned less cheerful, "Ahem, I have another piece of news for you. I accidentally made a mistake..."

Salomon turned to watch the lively discussion in the room. Thor had already removed Loki's shackles, but to keep his brother from wandering off, he had borrowed a rope and collar from Darcy—pink ones, which Darcy blushed furiously when she lent them—to restrict Loki's movements. Thor and Jane Foster had relayed Agent Coulson's request to him, but even without their words, Salomon could tell what had happened from the failed emails on his phone and the nearly shattered touchscreen.

"Wrong?" He glanced at Loki, who was grinning at him, and then gave him the middle finger.

Armored middle finger. This is a universally accepted friendly gesture.

"Yes, do you remember that AI? It asked where you went, and I told it the truth. But... my wording might not have been quite accurate. I told it you went to another world..." Maya Hansen said somewhat awkwardly, "It issued an obituary without my permission before I could explain..."

"This had better be the last stupid thing you ever did."

"Actually, I left something in your office..."

"Hello, Agent Coulson, when do we depart?" Salomon asked, looking at the group of ordinary people standing in the cargo hold of the plane. "Ideally, now."

"Wow?" A mixed-race girl with tanned light brown skin was stealthily approaching Salomon's grey mane, which was draped over his armor. But upon hearing Salomon's words, she quickly released her grip on the fur and ran aside, looking like a frightened cat.

Now, she looked at the alchemical doll standing next to Salomon with a different eye. She thought the girl's clothing reflected the unfulfilled desires of an adolescent male, and therefore she wanted to punch Salomon on the head to remind him of the topic of gender equality.

But she dared not. In fact, she had vaguely recalled some things about Salomon, and the armor also revealed another aspect of Salomon's identity.

The silver knight riding a winged horse during the Battle of New York.

Salomon's enchanting spells were cast too hastily and didn't have a good enough effect; at least Skye still remembered what his face looked like.

"That's just an exaggeration; I'm urging you to hurry up." Although the sorcerer's face was blurred by magic, his approximate age was still discernible. He was the youngest on the plane; even Skye, the female hacker who recently joined the team, was older than him. But he was also the tallest, a towering humanoid figure in armor—though somewhat shorter than the witch, he was already a behemoth compared to mortals.

"We need to load medical supplies and all sorts of logistical equipment into the cargo hold, all without touching my beloved Laura," Agent Coulson said. "Dr. Eric Scharvig said we have some time, and I think being prepared for any eventuality is something we absolutely must do."

"Are you serious? You made me miss Darcy's lasagna!" Salomon's anger even broke through the illusion, revealing his face completely. "You just needed to evacuate the crowd, Coulson!" the sorcerer shouted, "instead of fucking taking care of everything! I saw you have grenade launchers brought up! Do you even know who our opponents are?"

"Aliens? Magical aliens?" Coulson shrugged. "I think the World Security Council is very interested to know the outcome of yet another human battle against aliens. And this is a very serious matter, Salomon. I need to prepare you for defeat."

"You mean anyone could survive under the planet's breath, Coulson?" Salomon patted the ornate scabbard at his waist. "Are you questioning the power of the Holy Sword... By the way, you were already dead when you unsheathed it, sorry."

"You don't need to apologize for this, my friend. S.H.I.E.L.D. needs to manage the disaster so you can unleash your power," Coulson said. "Not every time a superhero defeats a supervillain, the building repairs itself, and not every time a superhero goes out, there's someone nearby. Someone has to clean up the technology, chemicals, and biological samples that might endanger civilians, especially you, Salomon. We still don't know if your magic will cause contamination..."

"Regarding magical contamination, I detected gamma ray readings on you..."

Salomon shoved aside Fitz, the physicist in the science team, who was about to shove a detector—something he didn't recognize—into his face. Simmons, a biologist in the same team, seemed quite interested in Salomon's DNA sample; she was holding a swab, eager to test it. "Perhaps you should go get a hot cocoa," the sorcerer's voice suggested, and then, as if suddenly realizing something, Fitz and Simmons went into their labs, completely forgetting what they had just been doing.

It looks like they want to make a cup of hot cocoa with a beaker and an alcohol lamp, just like they would in a college dorm.

"Don't use that kind of magic on my team, Salomon," Agent Coulson protested. "I feel like you're trying to cast a spell on everyone here to speed things up."

"That's right, if you don't hurry, your hairlines will recede to the back of your heads. Hurry, target London, war could break out at any moment, take your crying, overweight infants with you... no, drop the grenade launchers, we don't have time to reload. Don't ask questions, do you know you're no different from grumbling parrots?"

From now on, I'll just post 4K chapters a day. Posting two chapters at a time is really tiring.
