Chapter 346 High-Altitude Jump

Chapter 346 High-Altitude Jump (First Update)

Two heads crowded in front of the glowing screen in the center of the Airbus. The one on the left, with a healthier and younger hairline, had a slight edge in the amount of hair. However, Salomon wasn't smug about it. He was focused on the footage provided by S.H.I.E.L.D., watching team after team of special forces members wearing S.H.I.E.L.D. armbands enter Greenwich University.

From the footage transmitted by the cameras they carried, Salomon could see the Greenwich Observatory in the distance.

When the arcane mage questioned why SHIELD teams could walk freely on British soil, Agent Coulson offered his usual evasive answer. "SHIELD is an international organization; it's an agreement between democratic nations." Perhaps Coulson was being sincere, but Salomon always suspected he was lying. "It's completely different from totalitarianism. I believe those special forces members think the same way; they see it as an aid. They're all British, some with SAS experience, having dealt with numerous premeditated terrorist attacks; they're all extremely skilled fighters."

"No matter how powerful they are, they're still not enough compared to the Dark Elves." Salomon turned to thank Simmons for the hot cocoa and expressed his appreciation for the science team's work. Currently, Fitz of the science team, after communicating with Dr. Eric Saviger, has achieved some results. Soon, he will be able to calculate the precise location of the celestial conjunction.

Agent Coulson demanded that Fitz guarantee he wouldn't run around naked like the astronomy professor after being influenced by Dr. Eric Scharvig's ideas. Fitz agreed, but he didn't seem as confident as Agent Coulson, because Dr. Scharvig's theories were rather absurd. Fitz didn't believe that current astronomical knowledge could learn or deduce such things; he believed this knowledge must have some source.

This idea made Fitz very uneasy.

"You know our enemy quite well?" Agent Coulson raised an eyebrow with interest. He too received a cup of hot cocoa, but after only a few sips, he placed the cup on the holographic projection table. The aircraft was now hovering high in the sky, as Salomon had instructed, to avoid being severed by the spatial rift at the horizon. Stark's engine design was superb; the liquid in the cup was as calm as a lake. Of course, this was also inseparable from the pilot's exceptional skill; Melinda May controlled the aircraft as if it were her own body.

“I’ve seen it a few times,” Salomon said, sipping his hot cocoa. His mug was a Fitz-Carlton custom-made, a pure white cup emblazoned with a goofy, fat cat. “They have gravity weapons, it’s a projectile weapon,” he said. “It can warp gravity in a small area, like a black hole, squeezing everything together. If your agent gets hit by one of those, finding his body again won’t be easy, because I bet the remains wouldn’t even be the size of a fist—but don’t worry, the body will definitely be intact, just compressed; you can fit it in a can.”

"Then we need to evacuate the crowd even more." Agent Coulson pointed to the screen. "The special forces have taken care of security, and now the general public throughout the school is being evacuated. If I'm not mistaken, the protest call from Downing Street is coming in a little while. Would you like to listen to it? I think as King Arthur's heir, you should have something to say to them, right?"

The agent's last words sounded sarcastic, and in response, Salomon rolled his eyes at him.

"Alright, it seems you're not interested. I just hope you brought enough weapons—I mean, I hope your assistant brought enough weapons if the dark elves are really as terrible as you say."

When the invisible alien warship revealed its enormous form, everyone standing on the ground involuntarily looked up at the sky.

Melinda May pulled the Airbus up sharply, the dark elf flagship's towering spikes narrowly missing its belly. The razor-sharp alien flagship, though its engines were off, its immense mass and solid materials allowed it to carve deep into the ground of the Greenwich University atrium. The special agents and Asgardian warriors had undoubtedly noticed the situation and were rushing towards the atrium.

Salomon stepped out of the cargo hold and saw the androids already prepared and the female hacker, her face contorted in pain and rubbing her backside. The arcane mage ignored the unfortunate fellow who had fallen during the emergency maneuver. "Now, activate the constructs," he said. "I need them to meet the dark elves."

"Master, the construct is ready."

"Very well, I'll open the portal now." Salomon flicked his wrist, and a circle spraying orange-red sparks appeared on the grassy courtyard. Salomon's constructs filed out of the portal. These combat constructs followed the utilitarian spirit of the arcane mage, with minimalist headlights and bladed limbs designed specifically for combat, while exposed gears further illustrated Salomon's attitude towards consumables.

As soon as these constructs appeared, they swarmed towards the Dark Elf warship. Under the command of the androids, they used their razor-sharp limbs to climb the warship. Due to the Dark Elves' aesthetic sense, they installed the elevator in the most conspicuous central position, without any protection. This gave the constructs the opportunity to pounce on the constantly falling hull, like spiders clinging to the elevator.

However, the materials used by the Dark Elves were a bit too good. All the constructs could do was leave small holes in the dark hulls, preventing the constructs from being twisted and crushed. Even though they couldn't cause much damage to the machinery, their blade-like limbs still proved useful when the Dark Elf soldiers emerged from the hulls.

They brandished long, thin blades at the hatch, slicing the reckless dark elf soldiers who dared to peek out into wet, bloody slices of flesh. By programming, they were also keenly interested in cutting up fallen dark elves.

The constructs faithfully carried out Salomon's orders, giving the dark elves no chance to emerge.

But Salomon knew that the constructs couldn't hold off the dark elves for long; they had already begun their counterattack.

"You…" Fear welled up in Skye's heart. She hadn't personally experienced the Battle of New York, but had learned about it online. Yet, when the alien warships actually appeared before her, that fear erupted from the depths of her human genes. "What do you plan to do?" She watched as Salomon's neck was covered by gleaming silver plates, and suddenly realized that this man's arrogance was justified. "Are you sure you can handle this?"

“I’ve encountered enemies far more terrifying than this, miss.” As the armor plates formed a grotesque jaw, the arcane mage glanced at the panicked hacker. “Don’t worry,” he reassured her, a stark contrast to his previous tone. “Dark elves themselves aren’t powerful; the problem lies with something else.”

"What is it?"

Salomon, whose head was completely covered by armor plates, did not answer, and Skye could not discern the sorcerer's expression through the dark slits of his eyes. She realized that the transformation of the armor was not yet over, and she could see it more clearly as Salomon turned his back to her and walked toward the cargo hold.

Skye saw the bright silver shoulder armor on both sides rise high, forming two huge polygonal structures together with the back armor. After completing the transformation, Salomon reached out and hugged the android assistant wearing a black miniskirt. The android's joyful expression gave Skye a premonition, and she dodged in time, but the blast of hot air made her tumble.

Before she closed her eyes due to the strong wind, she saw flames erupting from the polygonal structure, and unparalleled power propelling Salomon and the androids out of the cargo hold.

"Damn it!" Skye lay on the cargo hold floor, stretching out one hand to protest loudly in a way that no one could hear.
