Chapter 353 About the Future

Chapter 353 About the Future (Second Update)

This was indeed Salomon's cabin in Finland, and the smoked salmon was made by him personally in the smokehouse. He also added a piece of applewood and a slice of orange for smoking, so he could tell what it tasted like without even taking a bite. This was the last one; the Sorcerer Supreme seemed to have specially saved some food for him, as the other four smoked fish were long gone.

It must have been the Venerable One who ate it.

He sighed and ate the fish with the alchemical potion, as if his taste buds had died.

With both Frigga and the Sorcerer Supreme present, it became clear who had thrown him into Nilfhheim. This wasn't fate, but some unspoken agreement between Asgard and Kamar-Taj, a secret pact between the Sorcerer Supreme and the Aesir. He wore that speechless expression, trying to get the Sorcerer Supreme to explain—not to condemn him, but simply to know his intentions so he could complete his mission purposefully and precisely.

But now it seems that his battle with Hela has not affected the agreement between the Venerable One and the Aesir, which makes him curious.

"In fact, you did a good job." Queen Frigga was still dressed in Asgardian court attire; the cold weather of the Finnish countryside was nothing to the Asgardians. Hopefully, her neighbors wouldn't find it strange. The Queen said, "You're not surprised by my appearance; it seems the Sorcerer Supreme was right, that trick didn't fool you... In short, when Odin grows old, the imprisoned Goddess of Death will return to Asgard, unleashing the great wave known as Ragnarok."

Salomon's expression was exactly the same as the Sorcerer Supreme's—an expression that screamed, "Why is your family education so terrible?" Queen Frigga looked somewhat embarrassed. She continued, "We need you and Thor to fight Hela, but… let's not try such extreme methods first? Maybe she can accept the current world. Okay, to be honest, I thought Hela would get along with you. You share common interests…swordsmanship, magic, and more importantly, you're equals."

"so……"

"Odin did many things after receiving the prophecy of Ragnarok, including imprisoning Hela... I know it's absurd, causing the prophecy to happen in an attempt to stop it, but Ragnarok could happen anyway, and Odin and I want to test whether you can get along with Hela." The Queen of Asgard glanced at the Sorcerer Supreme, "At least not in this form. There are too many threats in the universe, and Asgard needs to work with Midgard to deal with those crises."

He finally understood.

"Teacher, I remember that Article 185 of the 'Witch Family Rules' specifies what to do in this situation. I should have informed Bayonetta and Jeanne beforehand," Salomon said righteously, as if Bayonetta were pointing a gun at him from behind. "I believe that letting this situation continue will lead to an extremely bad outcome. Although the witches have signed a contract forbidding them from summoning beings from lower planes, as the person in charge of supervising their execution of the contract, it is necessary for me to conduct a divination-based spell assessment of the potential civilian casualties caused by their summoning. Although I haven't started casting the spell yet, I have a feeling that some kind of malice is reminding me. The angelic hymns and demonic roars, along with the chattering memories of the stigmata, make it impossible for me to see the clues that fate is giving me..."

"Alright, alright." The Venerable waved his hand impatiently. "Asgard wants to give you a princely title, and Odin has agreed. It's up to you whether you accept it or not. If you do accept it, then you'll have to figure out how to tame that madwoman yourself."

"I refuse, Master." Salomon rejected Asgard's offer with utmost decisiveness. If he accepted the Queen of the Sky's suggestion, it would mean that Salomon would have the authority to draw upon Asgard's power without paying any price—no burns, no kidney stones, no stomach jumping out to find food, no appendix speaking, and no soul being corrupted by Vishanti's power.

But free things are the most expensive, and accepting this suggestion would mean losing his natural stance on humanity's side, something he, and the Sorcerer Supreme, were unwilling to see. Moreover, Salomon had no intention of leaving the witches.

If only his status in the family could be improved even a little bit...

The Venerable Master nodded in satisfaction.

"But that doesn't mean we can't have a different way of cooperating." Salomon looked at the Venerable One, his sharp chin still encased in armor swaying back and forth, looking quite comical. "Just like your battle with the Allfathers, I can also force Hela to acknowledge Midgard's independence by fighting her. To be frank, I think Hela is less cunning than the Allfathers; her military mindset makes her straightforward. I believe that as long as an agreement is reached with Hela, she will abide by it."

Salomon originally intended to say that Hela wasn't as cunning and treacherous as Odin, but out of respect for the Queen of the Heavens, he didn't elaborate. He didn't care who ruled Asgard—Thul or Hela—as long as humanity's independent status was acknowledged. In fact, he was happy to see Asgard's next ruler be more aggressive; an era of demonic chaos was approaching, and the war potential of the Nine Realms had to be maximized.

"Then you must stop Hela from going to Asgard," Queen Frigga revealed. "Hela possesses the highest authority after Odin, and her connection to Asgard is extremely close. If she arrives in Asgard, it means she possesses Odin's power... At that point, you will be no match for Hela. Given Kamar-Taj's fighting style, this is the best option."

"Should we imprison Hela in the Mirror Dimension, Your Excellency?"

"I don't think this is a good idea. Hela can easily break through the mirror dimension and go to some unknown outer dimension." The Venerable slammed his hand on the table angrily. "In fact, Nilfhheim greatly enhanced Hela's essence, putting her in a state between life and death... I don't even know if this is imprisonment or a reward. What exactly is Odin trying to do?"

"At that time, Odin didn't know what Thor would become," Queen Frigga said somewhat awkwardly. "In case Thor couldn't shoulder the responsibility, Odin planned to let Hela succeed him and return what rightfully belonged to her. After all, she possessed the most suitable mindset for a ruler, exactly like Odin in the past, something Thor lacked. As for how she did it, that's not important. The ruler of Asgard must be capable of ruling the Nine Realms, whether that ability is good or bad. But right now, Thor's potential is greater..."

"We won't teach Thor anything more. That exile game is over, don't even think about it." The Venerable rolled his eyes. "My disciple's will is my will. Kamar-Taj will wage war against anyone who attacks Earth. If Odin wants to break the agreement between Asgard and Midgard, then I'll die later."

Just as a conversation about the future of the Nine Realms was taking place in the Finnish cabin, several enormous portals finally appeared in the sky above London. These were natural portals formed by the convergence of celestial bodies, and Thor flew out from one of them, hammer in hand. Below him, Malekith, the Dark Elf King, was tearing at Loki in mid-air, Loki's two daggers already deeply embedded in Malekith's ribs.

Thor was flying rapidly downwards, trying to pull his brother up before he crashed to his death, and also to give that disgusting toothpick-like, tarry-eyed, wooden-bodied, sewer-ass rat a good whack!
