Chapter 372 The Arrogant Cheshire Cat
Chapter 372 The Arrogant Cheshire Cat (First Update)
"I command you to open your belly!" the Cheshire Cat shouted from in front of the refrigerator, tilting its head back and muttering in a language no one else could understand.
"I command you to open your belly, you lazy bum!" The Cheshire Cat could practically smell the half-open can of cat food the android had put in the fridge. The fridge was shy; unlike a record player that never stopped playing, no matter how much the Cheshire Cat urged the seemingly dead creature, it simply wouldn't open the door. But the Cheshire Cat wasn't angry, because even its owner would have to resort to force to open its icy belly.
"If you don't open the door, I'm going to do the same thing as everyone else," the Cheshire Cat warned one last time.
As a cat, it deeply understood the hardships this family had endured.
For the past few nights, its owner has been making a lot of noise while artificially creating kittens with the other woman, which has angered her. She seems to be in heat too, needing a kitten to lick her. The Cheshire Cat understands this; after all, before its testicles were lost, the female cats had actively sought it out. If it left even a drop of urine outside, the female cats would scratch at the door during their heat, and that's how its kittens were exposed—at least there was only one cat with bright green stripes nearby.
But now, no matter how long it urinates outside, no mother cat pays attention to it.
As a cat, it can understand the hardships its owner endures.
The Cheshire Cat sighed, feigning maturity. It had originally been a free-spirited little sprite in Avalon, until one day it was drawn out by magic, and then, somewhat bewildered, signed a contract, forever remaining with its master. It wasn't too bad off; it was fairly content with this noisy, crowded world, yet full of delicious food. It even had its own servant—the Cheshire Cat didn't know how its servant saw while blindfolded, but she fed it every day, so she must be its servant.
Aside from the large, burning bird, the Cheshire Cat could never quite catch its tail feathers; the noise from its owners definitely disturbed its hunting. But it didn't comment on this, because regardless of whether it hunted or not, its owners always managed to find cat food in the refrigerator. The Cheshire Cat firmly believed this was an extremely difficult task, and the shy refrigerator was the biggest obstacle.
"I command you to open your belly." This time, the Cheshire Cat only whispered.
Night belongs to the cat, who leaps in the shadows of the room, searching for enemies that might appear in cups, bowls, or any container. It pounces between the sofa and pillows, seizing glittering sprites in the air and swallowing them whole. It chants fairy epics from Avalon under the moonlight, even if it only remembers the beginning and the pollen that landed on its nose while eavesdropping on the fairy lord's song.
Nighttime belongs to cats. They sleep soundly in their owner's lap when the sun shines, enjoying the rustling of parchment and their owner's gentle caresses. They drowsily devour their food, then forget whether they've eaten anything and loudly demand more. They lie on anything that can generate heat, basking in the warmth that cats should enjoy in this world, including magic.
Why not? Aren't cats the masters of this world?
It remembered the magic, that electric current that made its fur stand on end. It was a strange feeling, and although the magic belonged to its owner, the Cheshire Cat felt it could do something to the refrigerator. "Magic!" it threatened loudly, "I'll cast a spell on you if you don't open your belly."
The refrigerator remained completely still, with only a slight vibration from the cooling unit.
"Are you scared?" The voice was very clear to the Cheshire Cat, who shouted happily, "If you're scared, then open your belly! I want canned food and cake! If you promise not to tell anyone, I can share some with you."
After a while, seeing that coercion and bribery had failed, the Cheshire Cat decided to try something else.
----------
"Okay, if you want cat food, you can just ask Dinah to get it for you." Salomon frowned, pinched the scruff of the fat cat's neck, and stared intently into the cat's wide, innocent eyes. "Instead of turning everything out of the fridge like this."
The Cheshire Cat meowed pitifully twice, its emotions accurately conveyed to Salomon through the contract. But the sorcerer didn't soften. After finishing his "education" for Laura Crawford, he returned home to find the Cheshire Cat jumping around in the refrigerator. He wasn't happy that his cat could open the refrigerator door.
This is a magical pet, not an ordinary cat. It is much smarter than an ordinary cat!
After all, this cat, which weighs over 15 pounds, seems to have rummaged through everything stored in the refrigerator. Not only that, the fat cat ate at least half a cake and even rolled around inside it—judging from the cream it tried to lick off its mouth and the clump of frosting stuck to its head's ears. It must have been very happy before Salomon went home.
Fortunately, it was a magical beast, not an ordinary cat, otherwise it would have ended up in the vet after eating so much cake.
"What? Dinah's not home? Bayonetta took her out?" Salomon turned around and looked around, only to realize that he was home alone. When he asked the Cheshire Cat, it only said that Athena had called (it answered, meowing into the receiver, which Athena understood), and then Bayonetta and Jeanne, dressed in beautiful clothes, drove off with their android maids. The Cheshire Cat said it had originally wanted to go too, but declined the invitation to keep the bored refrigerator company.
"Don't try to make stealing food sound so clever next time, you stupid cat." The sorcerer gave up on pursuing the trouble caused by this gluttonous fat cat, because no matter what, the stupid cat wouldn't change, and the diet would only make it look for food everywhere. He summoned a few invisible servants to clean the house, organize the refrigerator, and casually toss the Cheshire Cat into the sink to wash it clean.
"No drinking bathwater." This was Salomon's warning to the Cheshire Cat. "No licking your fur while taking a bath."
"Meow..."
After dealing with these matters, he finally had time to see what news the radio wave that had been chasing him all over the world had brought. Professor Randolph's matter was resolved. Perhaps because of the constant crossing of time zones, Salomon could no longer calculate how much time had passed for Agent Coulson, but he was still glad that his runestone had come in handy—Agent Coulson had sent him a photo of several people frozen in ice, with berserker canes vaguely visible in their hands.
Agent Coulson indicated that they could cooperate again in the future, and that he had already helped Professor Randolph forge an identity so he could start a new life. Salomon then sent Coulson Professor Randolph's current location. As the highest-level Xenomorph Contract, any Contract holder could know the location of their Contractor; this wasn't particularly powerful, he was simply demonstrating a fact to Agent Coulson.
"See!" he said, "I never leave any openings."
Another message came from the AI, urging him to complete the alchemical body as soon as possible, and asking Salomon to visit its executor.
neglect.
Oh, and one more thing: Athena took Bayonetta and Joan of Arc to a spa, which means Salomon will be home alone before dinner.
