Chapter 376 Mystic Apprenticeship
Chapter 376 Mystic Apprenticeship (First Update)
Fitz had always considered Salomon Damonet a great enemy of science, and after each conversation with him, he would spend a long time muttering to himself, reaffirming his faith in science. "This is bad, Fitz," he thought, remembering Salomon's words as he watched him tend to his wounds, right here on this airbus, during the Dark Elf invasion. "This is bad, Fitz. I fear you'll break down if you encounter something you can't explain."
"Have you ever thought about this?" the sorcerer said, "What if our universe had a personified personality? Someone who could arbitrarily change the distance between any atom, alter the size and composition of any molecule, and even change all known mathematics—one plus one equals three. What would you think?"
"You're definitely crazy," Fitz replied, applying a little pressure as he bandaged the wound.
"If you believe in science, then why not believe in the pursuit of truth?" Salomon ignored Fitz's little prank. Fitz looked up at the sorcerer who was smiling at him, felt a surge of nervousness, and quickly lowered his head, pretending nothing had happened, and continued to treat his wound.
"You see, although I am a spellcaster, I don't believe in magic. I've always treated magic as a tool, and the same goes for science," Salomon continued. "Whether it's science or magic, the essence behind the phenomena is what we should be thinking about. Next time you encounter something you can't explain, don't rush to shout 'That's impossible!' or 'That's not scientific!' First, think about the reasons behind it. That's the precious thing about human intellect."
This remark truly benefited Fitz; he no longer saw Salomon as a wizard who stayed in a gloomy old house playing with skulls. However, this was the first time he had ever seen multiple wizards—after Coulson ordered the airbus back to Batesville, Fitz personally opened the cargo door and saw a group of people dressed in strange costumes. These people were men and women of various skin colors. After saying goodbye to the local police, Salomon led them onto the plane—"Alright, stop groping around like a country bumpkin. Everyone wants to be a secret agent when they're young, but we're much more mysterious than secret agents," Salomon said with a smile. "Being a secret agent isn't a good thing; in fact, you'll have to buy your own sunglasses. Good afternoon, Fitz. Do you have enough snacks? You can't entertain guests without snacks."
"Uh..." Fitz suddenly tensed up. He tends to get nervous when facing a large number of strangers, and when he gets nervous, he starts to stutter, a cycle that repeats itself and makes him even more nervous.
"Take us to the reception room," said the young monk Wang, helping him out of the predicament. "Any water will do; we're all dying of heat."
"I told you not to learn [Tolerance], you lazy bum," Salomon said irritably. "Every spell I write in the book is very practical. Apprentices, don't always focus on powerful spells. Every low-level spell has its own use. At least [Tolerance] will allow you to wear a few more nice clothes in the summer."
"Welcome, Salomon." Coulson walked from his office to the drawing room to greet the group of spellcasters Fitz had brought. "I'll provide you with the greatest assistance," he said, "including your apprentices. You didn't tell me you'd started teaching."
"No, these are all the Venerable One's apprentices. I'm just finding them a place to practice." Salomon instructed Agent Coulson to make arrangements for the apprentices and requested to see Hannah Hudgens, the person in question. However, Coulson told the sorcerer that Hannah Hudgens had been injected with a sedative and had not yet regained consciousness.
"The situation was about to get out of control," Agent Coulson said. "If Melinda May hadn't taken the right steps and transferred Hannah Hudgens to the Airbus, a conflict could have broken out—Hannah Hudgens' powers were uncontrollable, and she might have hurt people in self-defense. Just like when she blew up the gas station that morning, we learned that the local gas station owner had verbally abused her."
Agent Coulson handed the file on Hannah Hudgens to the sorcerer. "You can only see it here," he said. "We gave her a quick medical check-up and then moved her to a special cell. For security reasons, Fitz added electromagnetic shielding to that cell."
"Where are you taking her?"
Coulson paused for a moment. "The Cold Storage," he uttered, naming a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. base. That base, which had been bombed by the Rainbow Bridge under Salomon's guidance, had now been rebuilt. "You know what I mean, Hannah Hudgens is dangerous, and only the Cold Storage can handle her properly."
"I know, I know. Nick Fury would love to put me in there too; he just hasn't found the right way to imprison spellcasters yet." Salomon flipped through the documents in his hands. "Don't you have any analysis of Hannah Hudgens' mental state?"
"no."
“Then let me go see her,” Salomon said. “If she has an aura of another dimension, then she is our target. If not, then it means that none of these anomalies were caused by her.”
"Great, when do we start? Do you need to make any preparations?"
"Emmmm..." The arcane mage blinked. "How about some rum ice cream?"
So Salomon brought two cups of ice cream into the interrogation room, one with rum and one without, as Agent Coulson believed Hannah Hudgens should not consume alcohol. Agent Coulson and Melinda May entered the interrogation room with him, while the others—including the Little King Wizard and other sorcerers, as well as the rest of Coulson's team—gathered around the holographic projection table in the conference room to watch the entire interrogation of Hannah Hudgens.
"Do you really have a magic school?" Skye whispered to the young mage beside her. "Do you have any magical sports classes?"
Her voice was heard by others, and everyone gathered around the holographic projection table turned their attention to her. She coughed awkwardly twice, and under the fierce glares of the arcane apprentice and her supervisor, Grant Ward (this was Skye's subjective assumption), she shrank back into the crowd like a shy mole.
She vowed never to ask such a stupid question again.
"How could you make me ask such a question!" Skye complained to Fitz-Simmons in a low voice, "I'm so embarrassed!"
"Salomon Damonet is somewhat interested in you, so I think others will also tell you some information," Simmons calmly found a reason. "It's something agents have to do; we've all received professional training."
"Really?" Skye was slightly pleased, but she quickly noticed the mocking look in Fitz-Simmons' eyes. "I mean, even though he's tall, has a great physique, and is handsome, he's still younger than me! I don't like boys younger than me," the female hacker argued. "I promise!"
"Who knows?" Simmons said with a laugh, which annoyed Skye, who slapped her arm.

"Would you like some ice cream?" This was the first thing Hannah Hudgens heard in this unfamiliar environment, but the person who said it almost made her faint—she saw a cup of ice cream (with a wooden spoon) floating in front of her, while a person in a red robe held an empty cup in their hand—"Don't worry, you're not capable of hurting me yet."
Please vote for me!
