Chapter 397 Medieval Magic Barbarian Wizard

Chapter 397 Medieval Magic Barbarian Wizard (Second Update)

It's the last week of summer vacation, and most of the high school students who got into the same college as Salomon have their own plans, mostly involving travel and volunteering. Salomon's future classmates are quite different from other high school students, mainly due to Merton College's antiquity, wealth, and strong academic atmosphere. Studying is their only interest, and Salomon is no exception.

Compared to Oriel College, where students are all about muscle, Balliol College, which is obsessed with politics, and even Wadham College, which is full of homosexuals, the students here are not noisy and are one of the most typical "nerdy" colleges. Of course, the atmosphere inside the college is not as dull as outsiders imagine. The college hosts Oxford's only Christmas Ball every year, but Salomon has no intention of participating, and he doesn't even want to show up for the six formal dinners he has to attend every week.

Of course, this is impossible, so Salomon is still trying to communicate with the school.

He genuinely loved the college's stained-glass windows, silver organ, and tranquil learning atmosphere—it perfectly suited his aesthetic. Aside from Kamar-Taj, there was probably no better place in the world for academic (magical) research.

This is what he's been busy with since erasing part of Agent Coulson's memory; it's even on par with his magic lessons. Facing Dormammu is as terrifying as the House dinner, and if Salomon can't return to New York for dinner, Joan of Arc might just grab a pistol and rush to Oxfordshire to find him.

Jane Foster helped him a lot in this matter.

What better excuse could there be than an undergraduate student who has been chosen by a Nobel Prize nominee? As long as Jane Foster wrote to the dean explaining that Salomon had to return to his laboratory in London every day, he could conveniently skip the formal dinner and return to New York.

This was a huge favor; Salomon had to help Jane Foster decipher the extremely stable Einstein-Rosen bridge of the Rainbow Bridge. Jane Foster wanted to unravel the mystery of the Rainbow Bridge, both magically and scientifically. Her greatest dream was to create her own Rainbow Bridge to Asgard, instead of waiting for Thor to descend upon Earth.

As for the stories about the Rainbow Bridge that Frigga told Salomon, Jane Foster regarded them as Asgardian fairy tales. The idea of a wizard falling in love with an extradimensional being, or a wizard building the Rainbow Bridge, is too absurd. How could something so close to a natural phenomenon be created by humans?

Jane Foster argues that the Asgardians were not the inventors of the Rainbow Bridge phenomenon, but rather its guides.

“I don’t have time, tutor,” Salomon complained, frowning. He had indeed been admitted to Merton College with Jane Foster’s help, but he couldn’t spend all his time in her “laboratory.” Incidentally, the so-called laboratory was actually her apartment, devoid of any research equipment, only containing books and a whiteboard—Salomon genuinely had things to do.

His android army was about to hatch from the incubator, and the armor designs he had prepared for these androids were largely complete, just waiting to be sent to Stark for final modifications.

The android's armor is completely different from Stark's Iron Man armor. Salomon did not choose the fancy weapons that Stark Industries mounted on the armor, nor did he choose the MK42's mode of transmitting commands through neural signals. Instead, he chose the most common force feedback powered armor.

All the Iron Man suits before MK42 operated in this manner, which was incredibly easy for Stark. He could complete the design while analyzing Asgardian weapon technology, and the cost wasn't too high (compared to the new generation of Iron Man suits). Stark simply didn't like Salomon's aesthetic sense; in Stark's opinion, Salomon completely lacked understanding of what technological beauty meant.

That damned medieval magical barbarian wizard!

Salomon rejected a one-piece, full-coverage armor design similar to the MK5, believing it would significantly reduce armor thickness and protective capabilities. He rejected Stark's plan to place the armor's power core in the chest, as he considered Stark's reactor a prime target for enemy attacks. He also rejected the idea of installing jet propulsion devices in the armor's feet; Salomon instead used alloy-cast high-heeled boots inspired by medieval leg armor. [This was the only design Stark praised.]

Even more outrageous, Salomon rejected Stark's proposed red and gold paint scheme! Salomon wanted a simple black and white design, and even went through several drafts of the helmet design before finally outsourcing it to a designer to get the appearance he wanted.

This doesn't look futuristic at all! Instead, it looks like modern-cast medieval armor, bulky and thick, a far cry from the angular beauty of modern technological armor.

With most of the proposed solutions rejected, Stark was left to focus on the life support system. This was also Salomon's top priority; his artificial beings were extremely expensive, and considering the development and production costs paid to Stark, he couldn't afford to lose any more.

This is still one of the least urgent matters for Salomon at the moment, and it doesn't even take up much time. For Salomon, there is another matter that is more important in the Immortal City, and that is what Maya Hansen called the "new idea".

She began to study alchemy.

This brilliant biologist planned to use alchemy and the Philosopher's Stone to perform genetic alchemy. She had access to Salomon's office, giving her easy access to alchemical and dark magic techniques that Salomon couldn't conveniently store in Kamar-Taj. Therefore, Salomon had to select a suitable reading list for her and tutor her in alchemy—a course connected to the occult studies of the Sora Redwood Druids. If it weren't for Salomon's almost endless energy after activating his Stigmata, he might not have been able to get through such a busy day.

Maya Hansen's idea was to use the Extremis virus to fine-tune target genes, while simultaneously employing alchemical transmutation to modify and analyze reversible gene expression in epigenetics, aiming to endow the genetically modified children with certain personality traits, such as courage and caution. Salomon strongly supported this research because he absolutely did not want the genetically modified warriors to harbor any thoughts of betrayal towards him.

If these studies were successful, the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine would likely be within her grasp, but Maya Hansen doesn't care about worldly awards at all. Death is inevitable, and even if the genetic samples in Maya Hansen's possession were modified, normal people wouldn't be completely unharmed after receiving them, especially since many of them involved magic, which is the most unstable factor.

She was well aware of this.

Salomon had told her to prepare herself mentally, and this was her method; she was using her own way to fight back, unwilling to let those lives perish at her hands.

"We will have test subjects," Salomon repeated. "They are all scum of Al-Qaeda, I guarantee they are extremely brutal. You can experiment as much as you want without any psychological burden."

"I'm the professional, Salomon. Even a mature Extremis virus can go out of control, let alone something as complex as genetics. Even if the human trials are successful, I'm not confident that subsequent genetic modifications will be successful." Maya Hansen looked like she hadn't taken care of herself in a long time; she devoted almost all her time to research. If it weren't for the newly installed server matrix of artificial intelligence helping her solve some problems, Maya Hansen's condition might have been even worse when Salomon returned to the Immortal City.

"When do you plan to start the operation?" she asked.

"Wait until I go to college, Maya."
