Chapter 398 Family Conflicts

Chapter 398 Family Conflict (First Update)

Oh, you must hurry, My Lord.

As if someone were whispering maliciously in his ear, Salomon suddenly opened his eyes. His stigmata activated instantly, his muscles tensed, ready to leap up and unleash his fury upon his enemy. But in the instant he regained consciousness, his stiff body relaxed.

He is safe.

Salomon exhaled a long, hot breath, then slowly got out of bed. He went into the living room and began checking the protective spells he had cast in the apartment. Bayonetta, who was sleeping beside him, slowly opened her eyes. She was very close to Salomon and naturally noticed his sudden muscle tension.

The maniacal laughter from his dream still echoed in his ears. He shook his head, trying to separate the dizziness from his brain.

The Cheshire Cat, lying on the liquor cabinet, glanced at the human at its feet with a puzzled look, then closed its eyes again and drifted off to sleep.

"Perhaps it's just too much pressure," Salomon thought. All projects within the Immortal City were progressing steadily. Baal, the First Demon Pillar, was the future legion's target, so it was perfectly normal for him to dream of this rebellious lord of hell.

In fact, according to the Sorcerer Supreme, the bloody war in the lower planes has resumed, with King Solomon's Demon Pillars each ruling their own territory and fighting against each other. If Salomon wants to defeat the First Demon Pillar, he would be best off regaining the support of the other Demon Pillars through Phoenix.

This was no difficult task for the Sorcerer Supreme, but for Salomon, it was a matter of life and death. He didn't believe that all the Demon Pillars were as friendly as Phoenix. Phoenix was an exception, and there were only a few Demon Pillars that were exceptions, such as the thirty-fifth Demon Lord Magasiah and the forty-first Demon Lord Falgar. These Demon Pillars sent him friendly signals through Phoenix, expressing their willingness to continue the loyalty they had shown thousands of years ago.

Even if all these Demon Pillars were combined, they would likely be no match for the First Demon Pillar. Their rank dictates that their power is far inferior to that of Marduk, who was once a god. Moreover, Salomon would absolutely not agree to the Demon Pillars' request to summon them to the Material Plane without the Sorcerer Supreme's consent. Absolutely not. Phoenix's arrival on Earth was confirmed by the Sorcerer Supreme; the other Demon Pillars did not receive this treatment.

"Where are you going?" Bayonetta emerged from the bedroom wearing pajamas that covered almost no skin. When she saw Salomon, the dining table was already laden with breakfast, and the android maid was busy preparing ingredients for lunch.

Yesterday, the android maid spent twelve hours simmering a pot of beef bone broth, so today's main dish for lunch is a combination of seasoned rice and quail. First, the seasoned rice is stuffed into a whole boneless quail, then hot oil is poured over it to crisp the skin, and finally, it's baked in the oven. Under the android's precise control, this dish will showcase the perfect flavor of French fried quail and the rich taste of Spanish beef bone broth risotto.

The android maids loved French cuisine, so when Salomon was busy, the witches almost always ate French dishes prepared by the maids. There was nothing wrong with this; Salomon's cooking was often much more rustic, as he himself grew up eating from various families and didn't care much about the aesthetics of food. The androids, on the other hand, not only created delicious food but also considered its appearance, satisfying the witches' desire for luxury and refinement.

As for her first meal of the day, the android maid prefers sweet flavors, so breakfast consists of pancakes with her homemade ruby chocolate syrup or cranberry jam, a cup of hot sweet black tea or rose tea, and finally, cream ice cream sprinkled with dried fruit.

And so, a perfect day begins.

Salomon, though wanting to enjoy the food, only ate a couple of bites before donning his shroud robes, grabbing his wand and daggers, looking like he was about to get into a fight. Bayonetta led the still drowsy Jeanne out of the bedroom, and before Salomon could explain his next destination, she pulled him to sit at the dining table.

"You need to eat a proper meal, Boya. Don't rush where you go," the witch said, her expression as nonchalant as ever. Salomon was extremely busy in the lead-up to the start of the school year. He often left home in the morning after saying goodbye and didn't return to his apartment until late at night. If Bayonetta hadn't confirmed through Salomon's physical reactions that he wasn't cheating, she probably would have already given him a sweet punishment with her little whip.

The gentle witch didn't mention what Salomon was about to do. Beforehand, she had learned about the turmoil in the lower planes through summoned imps, and Bayonetta believed Salomon's recent emotional changes might be related to this news. With both the upper and lower planes eyeing the Material Plane, Salomon, as the Sorcerer Supreme's disciple, would certainly bear some pressure.

The witch was unaware of Salomon's plans, but she knew that this tension would persist if Salomon wasn't allowed to complete his task. This was not what the witch wanted; she was a Bayonetta, and if Salomon was willing to speak up, she could help him fight against the outer dimensions.

She was waiting for Salomon to confess to her.

Home is a relaxing place, and she didn't want Salomon to bring any tension into the apartment.

----------

"Great God." Salomon bowed slightly to Odin, who was feeding two giant wolves.

After a less-than-pleasant conversation, he and the witches reached an agreement: he could issue missions to the witches on behalf of Kamar-Taj, with the targets being extradimensional beings. This way, the witches could legitimately intervene in Earth's defenses and alleviate some of the pressure on Salomon.

Salomon was initially reluctant, but the witch's gentleness melted away all his stubbornness. The Sorcerer Supreme had no objection to this behavior; on the contrary, he believed that it was a waste to leave the witch idle, and that she should be active on the battlefield.

The Father of the Gods glanced at him, then turned back to tend to his two pets.

Queen Frigga pulled Salomon inside just in time. "He's a little unhappy," she said with a smile, handing Salomon a piece of smoked salmon. "He thinks you've embarrassed him by refusing to make the suggestion. Tsk, he's practically living on the throne, yet he still acts like the father of the gods! You can tell me what's wrong, and I'll make that stubborn old man listen."

Salomon hesitated for a moment, but finally, under the watchful gaze of Queen Frigga, he stuffed the piece of fish into his stomach. After eating, the Queen's eyes softened, and Salomon took the opportunity to explain the purpose of his visit.

"That's right, Your Majesty..."

Salomon desired a command from the Allfather: he wanted a small batch of Uru metal-forged armor from Nidavellir to equip his future armies. Not an army of androids, but genetically modified warriors, and among those, only the exceptional ones would be able to wear the special armor he had prepared for them.

Only the dwarves possess the skill to forge Uru, a magical metal that requires unimaginable heat and unique dwarven incantations to take shape. Therefore, even though Salomon obtained Uru, he still had to rely on the dwarven craftsmen of Nidavellir to process it—the amount of metal he needed was far less than that required for Thor's hammer. The resources consumed in forging the artifact were staggering; a fallen star combined with a massive amount of Uru was needed to successfully create that artifact.

As for the terms, Salomon felt that Thor and Hela would be a good bargaining chip.

Every family has its share of conflicts.
