Chapter 405 The High Wall Agreement
Chapter 405 The High Wall Agreement (Second Update)
Salomon underestimated Wakanda's speed in infrastructure development. When he visited the Immortal City before school the next day, his expression was no different from that of Maya Hansen, who had just woken up. The portal had been open all night, with Wakanda's personnel, supplies, and equipment moving in and out. The post-war ruins that Salomon had been unable to salvage were being cleared, and several small aircraft were slowly hovering over the Immortal City, replacing and repairing the lighting fixtures embedded in the rocky dome.
Although the renovation work is not yet fully completed, most of the lighting facilities built by the Brotherhood of the Shield have been restarted. The darkness that shrouded this desolate city is gradually dissipating, and the smell of death is fading amidst the growing noise of people and machines. Scattered throughout the city are technological artifacts that are ahead of their time, which are being collected and categorized for future research and analysis.
T'Challa saw this as Wakanda's first step towards opening up to the outside world. Although he didn't know exactly what his father and Salomon had discussed, he was satisfied with this mutually beneficial relationship. Wakanda didn't lose out; in fact, it gained, because Salomon shared information about the Brotherhood of the Shield, including previously unknown secrets that occurred on Earth ten thousand years ago. Furthermore, Salomon also revealed the location of vibranium deposits buried deep in Antarctica, providing Wakanda with valuable material for analyzing this mysterious metal.
Rebuilding the Immortal City is only the first step in the collaboration. The next step is to establish a mining base on Mars, where a facility capable of mass-producing the weapons and equipment Salomon needs will be built. Wakanda can also use the equipment there to build whatever it wants in preparation for the upcoming expansion plans.
Earth and Mars share a common origin; aside from some minerals formed from water and life, most minerals found on Earth are also present on Mars, making it a natural mining area. Due to the extremely harsh Martian environment, Suri proposed using artificial intelligence to build a base on Mars. With only minor modifications, this could be easily accomplished using Wakanda's existing technology.
This plan seemed suitable at the moment; the magic Salomon could borrow from the Vishanti didn't support frequent trips to Mars. Everyone agreed, and so Wakanda's research institutions began operating at full capacity, providing Salomon with robust industrial support.
King T'Chaka of Wakanda initially wanted to establish a mining base on the far side of the moon, but this idea was rejected by Salomon—the moon is too close to Earth and would be easily discovered by secular societies on Earth. The moon is not uninhabited, and Salomon did not want to make contact with humans possessing superpowers for the time being, nor did he believe that the Inhumans would agree to his mining activities on the moon.
Salomon's ideas didn't stop there; he proposed an even bolder plan. After the basic infrastructure was completed, the development of spaceships would also be put on the agenda. He proposed to first build a small spaceship capable of space travel, so that he and T'Challa could go to space together to plunder alien technology.
The Sorcerer Supreme's workplace isn't limited to Earth; the entire material plane is a tempting meal for extradimensional beings, though Earth is simply the most delicious one. Therefore, a spaceship is essential equipment for Salomon's army, along with accompanying drop pods and other facilities. When the current Sorcerer Supreme retires, the war between the gods will reignite, and the flames of conflict between different planes will be ignited once more. At that time, he will lead his warriors down to the realms of the gods and the dark abyss, proving once more the Sorcerer Supreme's name with blood.
On the battlefield against the outer dimensions, there is no mercy, only death.
King T'Chaka of Wakanda agreed to Salomon's idea and included it in his future plans. The premise for Wakanda to open its borders was that it could maintain its technological advantage and vibranium reserves. The loss of these two resources would be inevitable after opening, so using alien technology to maintain this advantage and mine new vibranium was a shortcut. The prerequisite was that Wakanda's researchers could decipher the alien technology and avoid falling into the trap of a technological black box.
Monopolistic businesses are the easiest to run, and Salomon's goal is to make Wakanda monopolize all vibranium on Earth.
This is also the fundamental reason why the King of Wakanda agreed to Salomon's follow-up plans; Wakanda made a huge profit.
The only one affected by this deal was T'Challa's sister, Suri, who immediately joined the research after reviewing Maya Hansen's work. At the same time, she also began studying the armor blueprints provided by Salomon, combining them with the Brotherhood of the Shield's technology to try and overcome some of the technical difficulties of the power armor Salomon desired.
For example, an internal nutrient circulation system would allow genetically modified warriors wearing armor to adapt to prolonged combat. Alternatively, life support devices and the sealing of the armor could enable the wearer to adapt to oxygen-free or extremely harsh combat environments.
"Her energy seems inexhaustible," T'Challa said with a laugh. "It's always been like this since I was little. She's always the one waking me up first, like some kind of morning alarm clock cannonball. Salomon, I don't understand, you've already achieved so much, why do you still go to school?"
“Because my foster mother likes it.” Salomon raised an eyebrow. The little black cat in his pocket poked its head out and meowed at him in a soft, babyish voice. “Besides, I need to find a place to keep the cat,” he said. “My pet cat isn’t very friendly to it.”
The Cheshire Cat sneezed, and Joan of Arc grabbed it by the scruff of its neck, bringing it close to her eyes to examine its nostrils and eyes. The grey shorthair whimpered and then struggled desperately, trying to jump off Joan's lap. The witch agreed, and she suddenly released her grip, sending the still-struggling Cheshire Cat tumbling off.
It stood up and let out a loud, dissatisfied cry.
"Alright, alright, I know, I'll be gentler next time." Joan scoffed at the Cheshire Cat's anger. "You don't have the guts to protest to your master, but instead you come to argue with me. Is that fun? You coward!"
Joan of Arc poked the Cheshire Cat's chubby head hard with her fingertip. "He brought other cats home, and you didn't dare say a word, all you did was bully that little kitten," the witch said angrily. "Your master is a womanizer! He's already brought other cats home, so it won't be long before he brings home other women! And you? All you do is eat! A can of beef was enough to buy you off! Shameful!"
The Cheshire Cat licked its nose guiltily.
Who can resist the temptation of canned beef? Besides, that little black kitten doesn't look particularly fierce. The Cheshire Cat was just annoyed by the other cat's constant clinging to its owner, which is why it tried to carry the cat into the trash can; it thought the Cheshire Cat was playing with it!
Although Bayonetta had won Salomon over with joy and passionate kisses, Joan of Arc remained uneasy, always suspecting other women were trying to steal him away. Natasha Romanoff was one of them; Joan had secretly filmed their conversations. Then there was the Asgardian goddess of death; Joan constantly worried that Salomon would succumb to political pressure and agree to a marriage alliance. And then there was Maya Hansen, working with Salomon behind closed doors every day—who knew what might happen between them!
"Ceresa! Aren't you going to do anything about him?!"
Bayonetta's adorable toes, encased in greyish-black stockings, teased the Cheshire Cat's tail, causing the chubby grey shorthair to turn around and hug its own tail, trying to keep this usually uncooperative companion away from the witch's clutches.
"You have to put a collar on him!" Joan of Arc exclaimed. "Men are like cats; they'll get lost if they don't wear collars!"
"Did your mother tell you this?"
"Yes!" That's what Joan of Arc remembered her French witch, who was also an Amber witch, saying. Her mother was a noblewoman of the Valois dynasty in France at the time, and enjoyed a great reputation among the nobles because no man who fell into her hands could escape.
“That’s not what my mother told me,” Bayonetta said with a laugh. “She said that these things alone wouldn’t be enough to seduce my father, who is a sage. I think my mother’s methods will work on Salomon too. Just you wait, he’ll be begging to come back.”
