Chapter 424 The Mission of the Artificial Humans
Chapter 424 The Android's Mission (First Update! Please Vote!)
Father Moru spent several days wandering around New York, visiting every bar in Manhattan, big and small, before finally boarding a plane back to Rome, completely satisfied. The androids wearing steel-winged flight modules could ignore terrain and track Father Moru, as the androids following him reported. Their overly seriousness led to clashes with some fools, resulting in five broken jawbones, twenty broken ribs, and countless other injuries.
"Madam." The android, having completed her tracking mission, landed on the top floor of the apartment building. She removed her helmet, and, the scorching heat emanating from her steel wings, walked towards her superior. Dina, dressed only in casual clothes, was already waiting there, ready to receive the report. This android had chosen her own name, Catherine; she excelled in both flight training and live-fire shooting exercises, which was why Dina had specifically brought her along for this reconnaissance mission.
After briefly glancing through Catherine's handwritten report, Diana nodded. "Come, let me introduce you to the mistress," the android maid said. "Master's orders are for us to make an appearance before the witches, to let them know of our existence, so they won't be too surprised when they see us."
"A protection mission?" Catherine frowned, beads of sweat dripping from her smooth forehead. Like Dinah, she had short, pearly white hair, but her lips were thinner than Dinah's, making her always look angry. Indeed, Catherine was one of the more radical androids; she advocated for complete control over Salomon's safety and well-being. If it weren't for Dinah's authority suppressing her actions, she would have already activated her flight module and crashed into the apartment building before even starting the mission.
"Just saying hello." Dinah's voice was almost a whisper, so soft that one had to hold their breath to hear her without a helmet or communication system. As the first homunculus created, and because she was in charge of Salo's daily life, Dinah held considerable authority within the homunculus army. Even impatient homunculus like Catherine had to listen carefully to her.
"The witches are Master's companions." Upon hearing this, Catherine clicked her tongue. Diana continued calmly, "They are powerful and don't need our protection at all."
"Then why...?"
"Be patient, sister." Diana knew what her sister wanted to say. "Master just doesn't want anyone to disturb his life. Master is a little shy. All we need to do is complete the tasks he gives us. Staying by his side is the greatest reward for us."
"For my lord." Catherine bowed, though somewhat resentful. This was the rule among the homunculi society, and she had to abide by it. Then, Catherine raised her head, asking expectantly, "Madam, do you know where my lord is now? Will I be able to see Master today?"
"Master is currently at the academy." Diana recalled Salomon's schedule for the day. She nodded. "Yes, you will see him."
"What about Tita, Aura, and Sevilla?"
"They..." Diana glanced at the tablet she was holding, which displayed summary reports of various missions and real-time updates on the personnel involved. Judging from the map, the three androids Catherine mentioned were not far from here, and these missions were not exactly secrets. Catherine knew what her three sisters had done, and she was jealous that her sisters were able to carry out such missions, instead of chasing an alcoholic in New York City like herself.
"As long as they finish their mission soon, Master will meet with them after they take a shower and hear about their mission progress."
"Is it too late for me to join that mission now, ma'am?" Catherine smiled sweetly, but anyone who wasn't blind could see the malice hidden behind that beautiful smile. "You have to make sure my sword can cut something," she grinned, "Even wiping out some unruly gangsters in the surrounding area would be good. Just think of it as a rehearsal for us going to the battlefield with Master soon."
"Alright, remember to follow Tita's orders." Diana glanced at the eager Catherine and the wrinkled red robe covering her armor. "Also, remember to take your clothes out of the washing machine after you do the laundry. You always forget to iron your robes."
"You're always a bit of a nag, ma'am."
"Because you are my sister, Catherine." Diana gently shook her head. "Master has already rented an apartment for us. Tita will tell you the location. You can go there to shower and change clothes. Master has excellent taste in summer clothes."
"Received." Catherine excitedly put on her helmet and activated the flight module with the help of the built-in artificial intelligence. Several streams of flame erupted from the steel wings, carrying Catherine in an arc through the sky as she flew towards the mission location she had just received.
Diana lowered her head and looked back at the tablet. Several missions were already in progress on the screen, and some missions were checked off to indicate that they had been completed without any casualties, and the androids that carried out the missions were on their way.
In the current environment, the equipment Salomon has prepared for the androids is enough to wipe out an equal number of US troops equipped with light vehicles. A single boltgun bullet is enough to cut an ordinary person in two, and the vibranium longsword can slice through the armor plates of an armored personnel carrier. This force is absolutely invincible in downtown New York City, and both Salomon and Dinah are completely confident in this series of missions.
Dina swiped her finger across the screen, displaying a surveillance feed from the Immortal City. The feed showed a beautiful woman with long, curly, orange-red hair, marked as a priority for surveillance. The task of monitoring this Asgardian named Lorelei had been assigned to Dina by Salomon, who had been monitoring her every move since Salomon's time at school.
Aside from Dinah, no one in the Immortal City knew of Lorelei's existence; even meals were delivered by Dinah herself. According to Salomon, Lorelei would play a very important role, so Dinah didn't treat the Asgardian too harshly, granting her every request for food and books, but she simply couldn't leave the room.
Lorelei flipped through the book and sighed.
Her ambitions had been largely worn down by these heavy books. She wanted to be queen purely for the pleasures of a life of luxury and omnipotent power, things that couldn't be found in books, and she had no interest in running a country.
She had originally intended to conquer the magician with her body and charm, but even after experiencing such erotic torment, Salomon remained unmoved, seemingly uninterested in her body at all, and even ignored Lorelei's attempts to please him.
You see, no man can resist her charm. She once danced for Salomon in extremely thin clothes, showing off her incredibly flexible body, but Salomon just clapped and continued reading his book, as if the words were more attractive than her—even when Lorelei sat on his lap, Salomon naturally put his arm around her waist, but made no further move.
This made Lorelei somewhat suspicious of Salomon's sexual orientation.
She had recently read a claim in a book, and coupled with Salomon's own revelation that he was a British citizen, this speculation took root in Lorelei's mind.
That's right, in her opinion, Salomon might like men.
