Chapter 443 Forging and Gathering

Chapter 443 Forging and Gathering (Second Update)

Wakanda's industrial furnaces use clean energy reactivated by the Immortal City. The high temperatures released by a small amount of radioactive material are separated into different pipes and used to melt vibranium ore with the help of combustible gases. What follows is a process similar to that of steelmaking outside, except that no one can see the molten, red-hot, almost white vibranium metal being poured out of the crucible.

All operational environments are controlled by specialized artificial intelligence, and weaponry is produced through downstream forging facilities of various sizes and highly customized, modular research facilities, resulting in standardized, integrated molding. Therefore, the Wakandans have moved far beyond methods that now seem extremely inefficient; anvils and furnaces are now considered outdated production methods. The Wakandans also relocated their forging facilities to the Immortal City, erecting towering forges amidst the ruins of war. Dedicated blowers, connected to what is now the Italian coast via ancient underground ventilation systems, provide airflow for the furnaces that condescend to melt steel and alloys with minimal power.

The scalding breath of the furnace giant echoed through the dungeon. The exhaust gases from burning ore, after undergoing a series of treatments, were discharged into the deep sea through stone pipes and rust-resistant metal pipes, forming a cluster of high-temperature bubbles resembling an underwater volcano. The discharge system fostered the growth of bacteria adapted to the high temperatures and oxygen-deficient conditions, as well as a biome of hydrothermal vents that fed on those bacteria.

Excellent insulation and an air filtration system keep the air in the Immortal City fresh and cool, but even in such an environment, there is one place with unimaginable high temperatures. Anvils and furnaces, considered outdated production methods, reappear in this vast obsidian hall. Blazing white flames leap in the gleaming high-tech furnaces, converging with stubborn, red-hot refined gold and steel. Brass gears and long, dusty, religiously significant banners hang on the walls, expressing the great achievements of the wise men of the past in mechanics, chemistry, art, philosophy, and alchemy.

Salomon had told the sorority about the place's former masters and their war against the infant Celestials. In that battle that transcended time, humanity's pioneers defeated the mechanical race known as the Celestials with their wisdom, even though it was just a young individual. The wise men who had lived through the long history of humanity paid a heavy price.

The ancient society of wise men, which had endured since time immemorial, was utterly destroyed, and the magnificent city they had painstakingly built crumbled to dust beneath the feet of the gods. Tita could not fathom what those gods were, for according to Salomon, early humans had undergone genetic modifications by the gods, and extraterrestrials had visited Earth, attempting to enslave humanity in interstellar warfare.

These alien races are among the enemies her master will face in the future. In the vast universe, there are many other aliens attempting to enslave humanity, and her master will absolutely not allow such a thing to happen. "We are experimental subjects," Salomon said calmly. "Humans are the most valuable beings in this universe."

Dita looked up at the faded flag shrouded in darkness.

This place was once one of the research institutes of the pioneering organization known as the Brotherhood of the Shield, responsible for mechanical manufacturing and research. The research equipment here has been removed and moved to the research institute of Ms. Maya Hansen. Thousands of years of glory and history have been transformed into brand-new technological equipment in an instant, and that furnace is a branch line of the furnace built by the Wakanda.

The Wakandans possessed an exceptional aesthetic sense (though Tita believed it was Salomon's requirement). A furnace shaped like a silver lion's head roared silently, and the bright red metal drawn from it radiated unimaginable heat; even Tita, ten meters away, could feel the intense heat. A massive anvil stood on the smooth black stone floor. Tita breathed heavily as she watched the metal being repeatedly forged and folded on the anvil—her master, clad in a deep red robe of hominid, was forging weapons in an incomprehensible manner.

Salomon raised his hammer and swung it down heavily. Each strike was accompanied by a mumbled incantation, and tiny golden runes flashed across the red-hot alloy surface after each blow.

Immediately following was another hammer blow, another flash of runes. Each strike sent orange-red sparks rising and falling like waves, extinguishing on the deep red shroud. Tita witnessed many precious materials being placed into the furnace, mixed into the metal through various strange methods. She smelled a certain incense scent, and with her own knowledge (including what she had been taught), she could vaguely understand the meaning of the incantations her master had uttered during the forging.

Deconstruction and dissection, speed and elegance, purification and faith, protection and order.

This sword will be adorned with gold and jewels, its folded and forged patterns overflowing with blessings and wisdom. Its master will use this sword as a reward for the sorority, to compensate for their inability to be by his side. At the same time, this sword also represents his expectations for the sorority; he hopes they will become his fingers, his strength.

Dita was willing to do this; she believed it was the meaning of her creation. Originally, Dita wanted to present the sword to Lady Dinah as the sorority's leader's sword, but Dinah explicitly refused, believing that being by her leader's side was the highest honor, and there was no need to contend for the ownership of a sword. Therefore, they decided to make the sword a sacred relic of the sorority, and only the sorority commander who had participated in battle would be qualified to wield it and issue commands to the other sisters.

The forging of this sword had been ongoing for a week at a time. Tita watched as the sword blank gradually took shape, and her master imbued the sword with unimaginable power. The materials used included not only alien metals and various gemstones, but also her master's blood. She saw that the blood, radiating a golden light, gave the sword a sacred quality.

This is the most important step, the one that gives this sword its meaning. From this day forward, the sister who wields this sword will become the messenger of her master's will. Tita firmly believes that as long as this sword is present, the Sisterhood's battle cannot be lost.

This idea arose naturally and remained steadfast.

Every day, she would describe the sword's forging process to her sisters, and each of them was incredibly excited. They all wanted to be the ones who could touch the sword one day—a rare ambition among them at the moment.

"Tita." Salomon, having finished his forging for the day, approached the android. Tita quickly lowered her head, ready to receive her master's command. "Don't be so tense." Salomon unconsciously raised his voice; the clanging of metal for hours had dulled his hearing. "Take me to see the nuclear warhead."

"Master," Tita tentatively uttered the intimate address she'd learned from Diana. Seeing that Salomon didn't object, she cautiously breathed a sigh of relief; her tall stature made her seem as timid as a squirrel. "The nuclear warheads are guarded by the sisters, placed in a lead-lined room as you requested, day and night." She kept her head down, following Salomon out of the Obsidian Hall, into the clear air of the Immortal City. "That scientist is also under our supervision; every checkup he undergoes is monitored by us."

"Well done." Salomon nodded. "And the sorority's daily training?"

"Having gone through the last real battle, each of them is much more proficient in their skills and has begun to try tactics suitable for the android army." Tita took out a tablet computer so Salomon could check the information. But the arcane mage didn't look at it; he trusted Tita's words completely.

"We're about to embark on another mission," he said. "This will be the mission that officially puts us on the stage. I shouldn't be so harsh on you, but I still ask you to be prepared, because this is another test for the android army."
