Chapter 450 Prayer

Chapter 450 Prayer (First Update)

Stacks of white candles flickered and rose on the tall stained-glass windows, countless points of light illuminating the platform and the android in its magnificent crimson robes. It was the first time Dita stood here, the first time she had worn such finery. She took a deep breath, feeling the warm, scented air behind her. The candlelight cast shifting shadows before her, and she closed her eyes, recalling the words she had repeatedly whispered and recited in her room.

"There is no place for you in this world, only here can you be reborn." This opening statement was powerful; Tita had considered it for a long time before writing it down. When she opened her eyes and announced it to them, her tension vanished, and she seemed to truly become the Tita who was respectfully addressed as "Madam," these words becoming her weapon and armor.

After being cleaned and rested overnight, the androids brought the girls to the sorority's hall. These girls ranged in age from under ten to over eighteen, had different educational backgrounds, held different beliefs, and had experienced different forms of abuse.

Artificial beings dressed in crimson robes walked slowly among women draped in pure white linen. The girls' faces were filled with sorrow, most of them filled with anxiety about their future. They had witnessed the people who sold and abused them being shot in two or crushed into pieces by steel armor. They had seen the hell that devoured their flesh and blood turn into smoking ruins under the bombardment.

In a sense, the androids responded to their prayers in despair, and angels with steel wings descended from the sky to save them.

"Raise your heads! Do not pray to the god of nothingness! We have saved you!" Tita stood on the high platform and declared her identity and the girls' future fate. "I am Tita, commander of the Sisterhood combat squad," she said. "I am a subordinate of the savior who saved you. I rescued you on my master's orders!"

She looked down at hundreds of girls, reeking of shower gel and disinfectant, some of whom still had wounds slowly bleeding beneath bandages. Because of these girls, their aircraft had to undergo a thorough disinfection. No androids complained, because they too had witnessed the horrific state of these women. It was a miracle they hadn't gone insane, suffered limb mutilation, or become pregnant; most bore more than one mark of abuse. Many more had died in the underground industry; the practice of roasting people alive wasn't new, and many women were treated like disposable items, dying tragically on camera.

Those who manage to stay here are lucky ones; the androids can't wipe out all the Albanian gangs at once. But this will be a daily occurrence, and new girls will continue to be sent over.

The sorority members in charge of medical care received a large amount of medicine and feminine hygiene products to treat the poor girls, and even some of the already disabled girls were brought in for education. Most of the girls still needed follow-up treatment, but the sorority couldn't wait to instill their beliefs in them.

"All your suffering is for this day! There will be no more pain, no more abuse! This is your home! We are sisters!" Dita's voice echoed through the loudspeakers, reaching everyone's ears. Like the reverberation of a cathedral steeple, her words were like the roar of a million people, "Join us! Become our sisters! Whether healthy or not, whether physically disabled or not, as long as you hold fast to your faith, you are worthy to be our sisters! You live by the command of our Lord, and you will die by the command of our Lord!"

"Kneel! Pray to our Lord!" Tita took a bronze statue from a wooden box held by her sisters. She respectfully raised the statue high, and all the sorority members shouted and repeated the words in unison. After a slight hesitation, the girls obediently knelt down. Even without whips, they knew not to disobey those who controlled their destiny.

"Kneel down! Pray to my Lord!" Catherine said to a girl. The girl was very young, very obedient and very afraid. Catherine frowned and gently placed her hand on the girl's blonde hair; she could feel the girl trembling. "Pray to your Savior," she whispered in the girl's ear, "Do not be afraid, your life will be pleasing to my Lord."

"You are no slaves to anyone! You will become messengers of our Lord!" Tita shouted to the girls. "One day, you will use the weapons in your hands to carry out our Lord's will! Pray, pray that glorious day will come soon!"

Salomon, of course, had no idea what was happening at the Sisterhood; he had just finished an extremely boring buffet.

Because Stephanie often held his arm, he was unfortunately seen by many as the Malik family's gigolo. But he didn't care much, and he didn't want to get involved in American politics. This was also Stephanie's only complaint; she always wanted to tidy up Salomon's hair.

"Vulgarity and snobbery are the only words that come to mind. I saw no manners there," the sorcerer raised an eyebrow. "And the perfume was unbearable."

"This is a country ruled by a rabble, but I believe those fools will cease to exist under your rule." Stephanie gently loosened his collar. Salomon cracked his neck and let out a long sigh. Even the daily academy lunches, which required him to wear formal attire, felt much easier for Salomon than being involved in the deals of politicians.

"I remember reading a book that described elected politicians very accurately," Stephanie said. "A bunch of manipulated swine, and the president is the dumbest one. My father was one of those who manipulated the president. You know Epstein? He used those methods to win over a bunch of politicians so he could escape punishment."

"I remember the federal government made a deal with Epstein."

"This country is rife with laxity and bribery; a stupid populace breeds a stupid government. Nothing is surprising," Stephanie said with a laugh. She cradled Salomon's suit jacket in her arms, watching him unbutton his shirt. She hugged the suit jacket tighter to hide her rapidly beating heart.

"The world is about to change, and the new faction that Alexander Pierce belongs to will soon be making big moves. That's what my father told me."

Salomon smiled and looked at Stephanie.

He was truly satisfied; even a brief encounter with the Malik family father and daughter resulted in Stephanie sharing all the information she knew with him. "Project Insight won't succeed. But we need it to draw S.H.I.E.L.D.'s attention." The arcane mage poured himself a glass of wine. His wine cellar was overflowing, and wine had become his most frequent beverage. "Don't rush things. Since Alexander Pierce and his Nazi gang want to rule the world with three space carriers, reality will teach them a lesson."

"You mean the Avengers?" Stephanie sat on the arm of the sofa. She leaned forward, her fingers twirling a strand of hair near the sorcerer's ear. "How do you compare to Thor?" she asked softly. "He's the heartthrob of every teenage girl in America."

"You mean that golden retriever?" Salomon said with a smile. "I am the heir to Kamar-Taj recognized by the Allfathers. Midgard and Asgard have already signed the covenant, and I am on equal footing with Thor. He is the heir to the throne, and so am I."

"So what are your plans for the future?"

"Tell me about that Hydra youth academy," Salomon said. "I think there might be something there that interests me."
