Chapter 451 Youth Training Camp

Chapter 451 Youth Training Camp (Second Update)

Ruby awoke with a start. She opened her eyes in the darkness, but could see nothing. Only the pounding of her heart and the cold sweat on her back testified to her terror. The air conditioner hummed, continuously releasing cold air, but she still felt incredibly hot. Her armpits and inner thighs were covered in icy sweat, as if a thousand needles were pricking her entire body.

She sighed in relief, pulled back the blanket, and sat up in bed, struggling to recall her dream. She had dreamt of an uncut ruby gleaming in the darkness, which was then shattered by a slender blade. It was an unremarkable dream; Ruby couldn't quite pinpoint what had terrified her, but upon reflection, she felt as if her mind had been spied on.

If she was truly terrified by a dream about a ruby, it only shows that her education was insufficient, that she could be swayed by such an absurd dream.

It was a windowless room, and even though all the furniture was shrouded in darkness, she could imagine what it would look like with the lights on. Pink dolls were everywhere, and celebrity posters covered the walls. To the left of the bed was a desk, on which all her books were piled haphazardly.

Like most American students, she didn't want to tidy up her things; it was the only thing she could defy her mother. Her mother had extremely high expectations for Ruby's studies, demanding the best from her, and Ruby certainly did. Whether it was physical training or science, she was the best in the school, just like her mother.

From a young age, her mother instilled in her the concept that she was unique and would become the most powerful being in Hydra. Ruby believed this, even though she utterly loathed the goal.

She reached into the darkness and groped for the air conditioner remote, turning the temperature down even further. She wanted to go to sleep as soon as possible; she had a class the next day.

"Is that girl Holtwyl's creation?" Salomon put the gift he had prepared into his dimensional bag in front of the heavy iron gate. "Not so good. Naïve, weak-willed, and arrogant. Besides, I don't see any progress in Dr. Holtwyl's bio-engineering technology in her; she's just an ordinary person."

"Dr. Hotwyre has many projects; this is just one of them, and it's the least classified one," Stephanie had to defend Dr. Hotwyre to prevent Salomon from thinking that this was all Hydra had to offer. She took a list from her handbag, a list of all the Hydra agents who had left the base.

This handbag was the first gift she received from Salomon. She had initially thought it was a gift suitable for a woman, but it turned out to be a magical item. Having read Harry Potter, she knew how valuable this handbag, capable of holding many things, was.

"This project studies eugenics. As you know, it's an inherent project of Nazi Germany, and that girl is a product of eugenics. Her mother was the best student in the previous generation at this base, also a product of eugenics, and then gave birth to her through artificial insemination. Dr. Hotwyl wanted to find the best genes to modify, but from a modern scientific perspective, it's an incredibly foolish thing to do." Stephanie flipped through the documents in her hands, trying hard to remember what she saw. This information would be of great help to Salomon in recruiting those Hydra agents, and Stephanie wanted to demonstrate her value in this area.

"If you're still not satisfied, we can also take a look at Baron Wolfgang von Strucker's base. He started experimenting after obtaining Loki's scepter, and it's said that he's already achieved good results."

“I know, but there’s no need. Baron Wolfgang von Strucker’s technology is just a gamble. Those twins are special, but they’re not of much help to us.” Salomon and Stephanie strolled down the empty corridor. There weren’t many people left in this Hydra base. The girl named Ruby was the only student in this cohort, and her instructors were some of the best Hydra agents from the Nazi faction.

Salomon and Stephanie barged in, oblivious to everyone else.

All the electronically locked doors opened automatically, and the sorcerer swaggered around, ignoring all the cameras and security personnel as if they didn't exist. Stephanie found the journey incredibly thrilling. Hydra wasn't some benevolent organization, and this was a base of Nazi Hydra. She was Gideon Malik's daughter, a member of Hydra's conservative faction; if she were discovered trespassing into another Hydra leader's base to investigate secrets, her fate wouldn't be any better.

While she feared being discovered, she also longed to be discovered; Stephanie wanted to witness Salomon unleash his power firsthand. The way he manipulated all the electronic equipment within the Hydra base had already astonished her, but that wasn't enough; she wanted to see blood.

"What are your expectations of that girl?" Stephanie deliberately raised her voice. "You can tell me, and I'll make sure you achieve them."

"I need to train assassins, full-time assassins." Salomon and Stephanie entered the dining room. Food was still on the table; the sorcerer picked up a glass and poured himself a juice. He hesitated, then grabbed a cookie. This composure made Stephanie uneasy. "Not every battle is a head-on confrontation," he said. "I need assassins skilled in infiltration and stealth, who are also fearless. Such people are hard to find, and they'll require extensive surgical modifications to achieve my goals."

"If I may ask, I haven't seen any detailed information about human modification within the Immortal City." Stephanie closed the file. Because it contained so much information, she decided to take it with her; after all, no one would bother rummaging through the archives. This file involved many things, including but not limited to international organizations, foundations, and individuals like the Global Alliance for Vaccines. Stephanie hadn't expected Dr. Hotwyl to be involved with so many forces.

This is not surprising. Based on the information Stephanie herself knows, the United States is one of the few countries that hasn't signed the UN Children's Rights Protection Act, so it's normal for Hydra to use this opportunity for profit or experimentation. If she can unravel the complexities and help Salomon reap the benefits, she believes her position within Salomon's inner circle will become increasingly important.

"I don't know if you can achieve your goals of human modification, but I suggest you first learn from the research findings of Dr. Hodwyer and Baron Wolfgang von Strucker. The biologists my father sent don't understand magic; they need scientific theories to support their work."

Salomon was somewhat unsurprised by Stephanie's initiative. "Those biologists will be placed under Maya Hansen's control," he said. "She will be in charge of the project, and everyone involved will be under close surveillance. Your father should recruit biologists who are preferably Hydra scientists; I'm worried that such an environment might drive someone insane."
