Chapter 453 A Monumental Lie

Chapter 453 A Monumental Lie (Second Update)

Su Rui stormed off, banging her shoes on the marble floor as if she had an alarm clock in the sole.

She knew that after seeing the human experimentation plan, she had lowered Salomon's expectations considerably, and that Salomon had removed her from the human experimentation project team to prevent her from getting involved. She also knew that she had misunderstood him based on preconceived notions, but that didn't stop her from being angry at Salomon for lecturing her in a condescending tone.

What angered her even more was that some of the girls who were sent back had not received treatment.

However, Salomon argued that since the girls themselves refused to join the Sorority and refused to change their fate, the Immortal City's resources shouldn't be wasted on them. He wasn't a kind person, nor was he a philanthropist; he could only care for a small fraction of the world's population. Besides, saving those girls was to bring fresh blood to the Sorority; don't think too highly of him.

But in some ways, Salomon has done far better than many charitable organizations in Europe and America. He didn't conduct secret drug clinical trials on those girls, nor did he perform surgeries or drug injections on them without their knowledge. He placed orders with Wakanda for prosthetics for girls with limb disabilities, and he even found sewing machines for girls with poor health so they could sew clothes, giving them the comfort of "I am useful."

With this humanitarian assistance, he also provided those girls with educational opportunities comparable to those of a public school.

The teaching materials were personally selected by Stephanie, and Joan of Arc volunteered to become a teacher after learning about the girls' experiences. Even though Joan of Arc was just looking for a part-time job to pass the time, and the teaching materials Stephanie chose weren't the most perfect, the teaching level and qualifications of these two individuals already exceeded the qualifications of many schools.

Based on their academic qualifications alone, these two individuals could easily drive up the property prices in the surrounding school district by 50%.

These educational resources would have been unattainable for the girls in their lifetime, but now they are readily available to them. Salomon's expectations for the sorority go beyond weapons; that would be too wasteful.

In fact, Salomon didn't display an overly condescending attitude, but Shuri just couldn't accept it. The Wakanda royal princess was exceptionally intelligent from a young age, and King T'Chaka adopted a laissez-faire approach to education. Under T'Chaka's arrangement, she could learn whatever she wanted, and she didn't need to learn anything she didn't want to. Her brother was the sole heir to the throne, and her father was the only king; whatever she did, she was tolerated.

Simply put, Su Rui was spoiled too much and couldn't handle much pressure.

Salomon hasn't even bombarded her with text messages late at night on the weekend, asking her to work overtime!

He let Su Rui handle the progress of all research projects himself. Is there a better boss in the world than him?

"Do you need to inform Wakanda about this?" Stephanie's toes practically twitched with excitement. She felt she had finally encountered a political struggle, a skill honed in her family, and her chance to shine was within reach. If Salomon agreed to let her act, she could now manipulate the cooperative relationship between the Immortal City and Wakanda, potentially kicking the Wakanda out of the Martian foundry at any time.

She began plotting this immediately after learning Wakanda's true nature, and Salomon also passed on some of his methods for countering Wakanda to her. She also had the idea of destroying Wakanda and completely seizing its resources and technology.

However, Salomon had never agreed to this plan, because abruptly severing the cooperative relationship or even starting a war would greatly weaken the Immortal City's strength. The arcane mage said he had a simpler method, and he even showed Stephanie an alchemical body immersed in a cultivation tank.

"What is this?" Stephanie asked, puzzled. How could an android be the key to defeating Wakanda?

"The time isn't right yet." Salomon didn't answer the question. He simply smiled and said mysteriously, "This body will be put into use soon, and then you'll understand its purpose. Everything is going according to plan."

"I'm your secretary, can't I even know?"

"What do you think, Secretary?"

Stephanie was used to Salomon's mystical ways; a few months simply wasn't enough time for her to uncover all of her new boss's secrets. Back in Hydra's youth academy, Stephanie had witnessed Salomon formulate a rough plan within seconds of receiving that list; who knew how many more plans he had in the works?

"So why were you reading that book?" Stephanie changed the subject, focusing on the book Salomon had been reading that morning. That book wasn't very popular in Western society, and she couldn't imagine what use it would be to Salomon. "The Complete Works of Lenin, in Russian. Were you trying to find some knowledge in it?"

"There are some. I'm looking for a way out for dialectical materialism." The sorcerer curled his lip. "Engels said that the true unity of the world lies in its materiality. Therefore, matter is primary, and consciousness is secondary. Consciousness is highly developed matter, a function of the human brain, and a reflection of the objective material world in the human brain. If only the world were that simple—will can influence the laws of matter, and magic is a typical example of this."

Salomon sighed. He stretched out a hand, and clusters of high-energy plasma shimmered at his fingertips.

"Gods who represent the objective laws of matter exist, and they can arbitrarily modify mathematical laws. I am looking for a path that abandons religion, and Lenin's ideas are my attempt to abandon worship, abandon ignorance and pursue scientific rationality, so that people realize that even if God exists, there is no need to worship Him." He clenched his fist, and the plasma cluster turned into snowflakes.

“That’s difficult because you’re denying atheism,” Stephanie seized on Salomon’s idea. “That approach only leads to agnosticism. Don’t look at me like that; I’ve studied philosophy.”

"Then why call a being that represents a certain concept a god, instead of seeing it as a machine that influences the operation of the universe?" The sorcerer dropped his bombshell. "Anyway, humans can't influence that machine, and that machine won't change because of human worship, so what's the point of worship? The idea that God loves the world is fundamentally a false proposition. If God is truly omnipotent, then whether humans worship or not makes no difference—actually, there is a difference, which is whether or not to satisfy a perverted little hobby of sacrificing ants at one's feet."

"That's impossible, because humans need objects of worship to support their spirits. Humans are weak; they need to be ruled and worshipped." Stephanie found the key. "Therefore, hiding the existence of God is necessary. Without a God representing the objective laws of matter, all problems can be solved."

"Yes, a lie to deceive everyone, a lie born of desperation." Salomon nodded. "Asgard is alien, the dark elves are alien. Magic doesn't exist in this world; Asgard's magic is high technology. That's my lie, and everyone believed it."

"So what does all this mean to you, Salomon?"
