Chapter 457 Snowmobiles
Chapter 457 Snowmobiles (Second Update)
With Laura Crawford's help, Salomon acquired the Riverside Estate in Oxfordshire for £15 million and completed all the formalities. However, he couldn't move in immediately after the transfer of ownership; he had to hire professionals to thoroughly clean the estate, ideally to the point where he could just pack his bags and move in, as the furniture inside was quite nice.
The previous owner only performed the most basic maintenance on the estate, completely ignoring the rampant weeds and the free movement of small wild animals. The company Salomon contacted was recommended by Laura Crawford. Another Crawford family estate was also maintained by professionals from this company, and Laura sometimes even arranged for the butler to hire them to clean the gardens.
Salomon deliberately chose this estate with a horse ranch so that Pegasus could run freely, and the witches could race cars around the estate. Therefore, he also needed to spend money to repair the estate's roads—Highways 4 and 40 connect Oxfordshire directly to London in just one hour. The witches sometimes drive from the estate to London for shopping; Salomon knows a jewelry designer of Middle Eastern descent in London who can provide the witches with the best service.
Just to store Bayonetta's motorcycles, Salomon would need to find two more garages in New York City, not to mention the plans to convert the apartment into a yoga room and dressing room. Even the Cheshire Cat doesn't have its own little room.
The Cheshire Cat has its own little bed, but it prefers to stay in a cardboard box. As for scratching posts, the sofa is the best one.
Therefore, everyone in the apartment supports the moving plan, and they can move in around the time Salomon's birthday party is over.
"You're leaving New York and moving to Oxfordshire? Are you leaving New York Pizza?" Tony Stark was taken aback by the news. "Before or after your birthday, buddy?" he said. "Look, I'm sorry, your birthday falls on Christmas, but I still have a present for you. I know you don't celebrate Christmas, so consider it a birthday present, okay?"
"It doesn't matter, I won't invite you to my birthday party anyway," Salomon said with a smile. "That's a gathering of the wizarding world."
"Ouch! That's so hurtful!" Stark pretended to clutch his chest. "If I hadn't had the shrapnel removed over a year ago, what you're saying might have killed me."
"Sir, are there still shrapnel fragments that haven't been removed?" Jarvis asked. "Should we schedule another surgery?"
"That's just a metaphor. I should probably upgrade your vocabulary and logical reasoning skills." Stark rolled his eyes. "I designed all the deep learning chips myself. If you want, I can give you a few and install a graphics card for you. What's so surprising about that? I do have a lithography machine. But that's not a gift. My gift to you is this!"
The billionaire beckoned Salomon to the garage, where he showed him his newly purchased snowmobile. "I modified it," he winked. "By some rough calculations, it accelerates to 100 km/h in five seconds. I'm going on vacation to South America with Pepper, so I won't need the snowmobile. I think this guy will perform better in the Scottish Highlands."
"The estate I bought is in Oxfordshire, not in Scotland."
"Who cares, it's all the same," Stark said matter-of-factly. "Even though you won't invite me to my birthday party, I'll still invite you to my wedding."
"Wow? When?" Salomon was a little surprised, because he had no idea when Pepper Potts and Stark would be getting married. He even suspected that it was because he told Stark that he would have a daughter in the future that Stark had the idea of getting married.
“That depends on what you say,” Stark said, sounding a little nervous. “I think if the timing of the marriage hadn’t been right, Pepper might not have had that girl,” he said. “You know, I don’t really believe in fate or prophecies… I just happen to like daughters. You know what I mean.”
"Go with the flow, Stark. Fate is a strange thing. Some things are destined to happen, no matter how you try to change them. All you have to do is accept it and then find the parts you can change."
"Did you think of those words yourself?"
“No, it was my teacher who told me,” Salomon said. “I know it sounds a bit fatalistic, but the multiverse is real, and anything can happen. What I saw was one possibility within the multiverse. I can’t be 100% sure if that possibility will happen to you, but it is definitely a possibility.”
"So what's the statistical significance?"
"I don't know either. The multiverse is endless. New things are born and old things are destroyed every moment. In each different multiverse, there are some events that are 100% certain to happen, and it is also possible for these random events to combine into a completely new universe."
"Like Lego."
"Yes, two LEGO buildings could be created simply by having one LEGO piece of a different color, and that's enough to create a new universe."
"And what about my daughter?"
"I don't know." Salomon shrugged, looking completely innocent. "I'm not an omniscient and omnipotent god. You should ask the conceptual entity of this universe about this. But meeting this god will come at a considerable price. His Celestials are practically the true gods of the physical universe; they are beyond our human capabilities to resist."
"And what about Asgard?" Stark, having heard about the secrets of the universe, immediately perked up. "Could the Asgardians resist those gods?"
"The Allfather once rallied all the gods on Earth to resist the Celestials' invasion. I can only tell you that even with such power, they could only barely fight the Celestials to a draw," Salomon said. "Part of the reason the gods left Earth was because of the Celestials, and another part was because of Kamar-Taj—because, in a sense, the first Sorcerer Supreme had some connection with the conceptual entity of this universe, hence the name Sorcerer Supreme. I can't say that the Celestials helped humanity drive out the gods, because humans were just experimental animals to the Celestials."
"Oh my god!"
"You mentioned that Christ might also need to submit to this universe, but I'm not sure, because there are still many secrets in Heaven." Salomon narrowed his eyes, revealing a sinister expression. "My teacher told me that some aspects of Heaven are sealed off by Metatron, and no one knows what Heaven's plans are."
"How can it be so dangerous outside of Earth!" Stark frowned, his good mood vanishing instantly. "Why do you always bring me bad news? Are you doing this on purpose?"
"I'm just stating the facts," the sorcerer said. "Humans are such an insignificant race. You can understand the Venerable's painstaking efforts to conceal magic, right? If the Venerable had let humanity know that Heaven truly existed, then science and technology would have been impossible to develop. People would all be rushing to churches to read the Bible, and knowledge would be entirely in the hands of the church—don't tell me how good things are now. Even after S.H.I.E.L.D. said the Asgardians were aliens, there are still tons of people who worship Thor and even welcome Asgardian rule over Earth. You yourself are an object of worship for some. Weak people need spiritual support, and the Avengers are that spiritual support for some."
Why do I feel like you're criticizing me?
"I'm merely pointing out the inherent flaws of life through the wisest of mortals. There's nothing wrong with needing spiritual support, but kneeling before extradimensional beings is utterly foolish," Salomon said. "Killing extradimensional beings and ensuring humanity's independence is Kamar-Taj's primary mission. So you are important, Stark; you are a bulwark against the threats of the physical universe."
