Chapter 499 I am the Nine-Headed Hydra

Chapter 499 I am the Hydra (Part 11)

Even with the constant gunfire outside, Salomon's voice still reached Captain Rogers' ears clearly. However, in such an environment, Captain Rogers couldn't detect anything amiss. His combat instincts were exceptional, but in other aspects, he was just like an ordinary person; the super-soldier serum didn't significantly enhance his intelligence.

"Aren't you a magician?" After thinking for a few seconds, Captain Rogers finally came to this conclusion.

"But that doesn't stop me from being a good student. These days, you're embarrassed to go out without a few PhDs. Look at Dr. Banner, he has a PhD too. I still need to work harder." Salomon helped him install the replacement chips provided by Nick Fury, then he looked at the operation logs on the tablet and nodded in satisfaction. These chips were just the part that connected to the satellite communication. The cunning Nick Fury had already activated the backup satellite, and Salomon could even connect to that satellite directly through this server.

So he gave the AI the next phase of orders: locate satellite transponders, control inter-satellite links, and be ready to replace them with Wakanda satellites at any time. Even if all the chips were replaced, this action, along with the androids' attack, would ensure Salomon's control of the Sky Carrier. He didn't need to modify each ship individually; he was only there to find an opportunity to control the satellites—the satellites were the key.

"Is it done?" Steve Rogers asked.

"Yes, the new program is running." Salomon nodded, looking very satisfied.

Natasha Romanov, disguised as Senator Holly, dropped her pretense and took control of the Secretary General's office. She easily defeated the special forces soldiers and handed over weapons to the council members, allowing them to control Alexander Pierce. Her actions instilled a subconscious trust in the council members, and no one stopped her from operating the terminal.

No one tried to stop them; the three fully armed special forces soldiers were still lying on the ground!

"What are you doing?" Director Powell asked.

"She's disabling the security protocols and releasing all the secrets online," Alexander Pierce politely reminded Black Widow when he saw her access to the control terminal was restricted. "Unencryption is an executive order that requires two Class A members to be present."

"Don't worry, they'll be here soon." Natasha Romanov glanced at the tri-curved helipad outside his window, where a helicopter was slowly landing. The board members watched in astonishment. Even Alexander Pierce, with a gun pointed at him, felt a sense of foreboding, as if the unmarked black helicopter had landed at his window like a raven carrying bad luck.

Nick Fury stepped off the plane and strode into the room. Aside from a bandaged arm and bruises on his face, he appeared unharmed and full of energy. Natasha Romanoff glanced at her boss; she wasn't even sure if Nick Fury's arm was actually injured—with Salomon's potion, it must have healed by now, and he was just faking it.

After a moment of panic, Alexander Pierce quickly regained his composure. He continued to charm as always. "Did you receive the flowers I sent?" he asked, his tone as if greeting a patient just discharged from the hospital. "I'm so glad you could come, Nick."

"Is that so?" Nick Fury said coldly. "However, I seem to remember that you were the one who sent people to kill me?"

Pierceman seemed completely unfazed by Nick Fury's questioning, saying, "You know the rules of the game."

"So why did you make me the director of S.H.I.E.L.D."

"Because you are the most outstanding and the most ruthless person I know."

"Everything I do is to protect the public."

Pierce nodded noncommittally. "Our enemy is your enemy too, Nick. Chaos, war. Remember that stolen nuclear bomb? We still haven't found it. Who knows where it will explode, Moscow? Or Washington? It's only a matter of time. Diplomacy is just a stopgap measure, not a cure. Nick, do you know where I learned this? In Bogotá." As Nick Fury's former boss, he knew Nick Fury's past. "You didn't ask anything, you just did what you were supposed to do."

Nick Fury stared intently into his eyes, saying nothing.

"By sacrificing just twenty million people, I can bring order to seven billion and save their lives." Pierce's tone was like that of a utilitarian solving a math problem. It was full of optimism and encouragement: "If you have the courage to move forward, this is the next step."

"No," Nick Fury said. "I have the courage not to do that."

He led Pierce to the security scanner mounted on the transparent tempered glass wall. Natasha Romanoff had finished her work; she picked up her pistol again and aimed it at Pierce's head.

"Initiate iris scanning," the computer announced.

"Do you think we won't remove your access permission from all systems?" Pierce said. He was the only Class A operative with that level of access here; Nick Fury was no longer one. But the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. simply smiled.

"I know you've erased all my passwords, and perhaps even deleted my iris scans. But if you want to beat me to it, Secretary General, you'll have to keep both eyes open." Nick Fury removed his blindfold, revealing scars on his face and his milky-white blind eye. He had recorded iris scans of both his eyes in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s security system, and he knew Alexander Pierce would never suspect that he had two completely different sets of iris data in the system.

"Level A confirmed." The computer voice prompt continued, "Encryption code confirmed. Security protection deactivated."

Captain Rogers pressed his earpiece, and immediately Salomon's phone rang. Agent Maria Hill dialed Salomon directly, requesting to speak with him. She couldn't reach Nick Fury now, as he had led a team to storm the Secretary General's office at Trisolaris headquarters, uncovering Alexander Pierce's conspiracy.

Maria Hill must speed things up.

"I know about the portal; you've used it in front of me more than once." She first revealed that she had seen the portal during the Battle of New York, then said to Steve Rogers, "Now, handing over the mission. Salomon Damonette will be in charge of replacing the chip. This is the most efficient option. Ship A is complete, Falcon will be in charge of Ship B, and Ship C is positioned at a 45-degree angle to port on the bow. Salomon Damonette, you are in charge of Ship C."

Two gunshots rang out from the other end of the phone.

Two special forces soldiers stormed the satellite control room, but were shot dead by Agent Hill before they could even cross the porch. "Six minutes left," she said calmly, as if no attack had occurred. "Move faster."

Steve Rogers handed another chip to Salomon.

Before leaving, the arcane mage pointed to the portal and asked, "Are you sure you don't need a ride?"

"No need," Captain Rogers said. "I have my own way of doing things."
