Chapter 514 Who is the Traitor?
Chapter 514 Who is the Traitor (First Update)
Su Rui waited for a long time but the portal didn't reopen. She shook her head, intending to continue her work, when the dazzling orange-red sparks reappeared out of thin air. Salomon, who had jumped into the portal, slowly emerged. His once clean and tidy pajamas were now filthy, reeking of melting asphalt, and the white fleece of his nightcap was blackened and curled, emitting the acrid smell of burnt chemical fibers. Su Rui had a bad feeling. She sniffed carefully—there was also the smell of spoiled beer, diapers, and toads. Especially when Salomon pulled a frog with a very sad expression from his pajama pocket, Su Rui's curiosity reached its peak.
"Weren't you just going to retrieve the plasma weapon?" she asked the arcane mage slumped on the floor. "Where's the weapon? And what's with this frog?"
"It was the only survivor at the scene. Its home was in the roots of a tree by the roadside. When I found it, it was sitting in a pile of dark rubble. It was completely dry, covered in soot, without a speck of wet mud. Poor little thing, it might not make it through the month."
"Are you serious? You've already found a way to fool me so quickly?" Princess Su Rui scoffed, her breath escaping rapidly from her nostrils. She knew the explosive power of that plasma pistol; if the frog were within the blast radius, Salomon wouldn't even see a bone. She glanced at the holographic projection in her hand. "Only thirty minutes have passed. I don't believe you can't handle something this small. I'm the head of R&D; I have the right to know about certain classified operations."
"Alright." Salomon put away his sad expression, patted his behind, sat up, and began to tell Su Rui what had happened thirty minutes earlier. Of course, he omitted some things that weren't important to ordinary people, such as what exactly the special magic he had used against machinery was. When he described how he went to a construction site to steal a road roller and then made it fall from the sky and smash it into the bastard's head, Su Rui stopped his rambling.
"You said you cut off the power to the plasma gun, and you didn't even show your face the whole time?" Su Rui couldn't sit still any longer. "How did you do that?"
"Uh... it's that switch, you know," Salomon said innocently. "I conjured a ghost hand and then secretly pressed the switch. Everyone was saved, and the bad guy was caught."
Princess Shuri took a deep breath and slammed a chair down opposite Salomon. "That thing doesn't have a power switch. You can keep spouting nonsense, we're not in a hurry anyway." She tapped the microcomputer in her hand. "Are you really going to hide something like this from me, Salomon? I didn't ask what's locked up in your biology lab."
His expression instantly shifted from the warm, humorous smile of a comedic character to a cold, tightly pursed smile, like that of the world's best actor. His eyes were devoid of warmth, making Su Rui regret what she had said.
"Why can't you indulge your naive thoughts, Suri? Your brother asked me not to show you the worst side of this world, and I kept my promise, not letting you get involved in anything in the biological lab." Salomon sneered twice. "Then let me tell you, because of your negligence, that plasma pistol exploded, killing several people. Does that make you feel any better? You should be glad I controlled the blast and didn't harm any innocent bystanders."
Su Rui was speechless.
"You are incredibly naive and childish. You were born with power, so you completely misunderstand what the power I've given you truly represents." Salomon seemed to have taken control of the conversation; now he was the one issuing the accusations. "I won't punish you this time for the sacrifice of those battle-hardened special forces soldiers, because they were already taking risks on their mission. Accidents happen in combat, and accidents happen with weapons; this was just one of many accidents that could have cost them their lives. I want you to remember the consequences of your carelessness. There won't be a next time. Got it?"
Su Rui nodded.
"Repeat it." Salomon glanced at the Wakanda staff beside him. They all lowered their heads, showing no intention of speaking up for Su Rui. Su Rui lowered her head even further, assuring Salomon that she would never handle documents so carelessly again.
"Very good." Salomon stood up from the folding chair. "Get some rest. Tomorrow I'll cast a spell to dispel the unusual weather in that area. But this magic won't last long, though it's better than heating the atmosphere. Get ready, and let the pilots rest well when they return. They'll be busy tomorrow."
Salomon left the base with a grave expression. This was King T'Chaka of Wakanda probing the forces of the Immortal City. He refused to believe it was an accident. Even Shuri couldn't be this naive. This wasn't naivety; it was stupidity.
It's true that experimental weapons are dangerous and could explode, but the claim of signing agreements haphazardly is false.
T'Chaka has a new bargaining chip and wants to test Salomon's strength. Truly a cunning ruler raised on feudal power politics!
But Salomon wasn't one to be trifled with; he knew who Wakanda had been in contact with.

S.H.I.E.L.D. found Marcus Daniels through Audrey Nathan. The guy imprisoned in the Cold Storage prison suffered from a severe mental illness, which Agent Hand now knows was caused by the whispers of the Shadow Creatures burning out his brain. She can find Marcus Daniels through Audrey Nathan, and also Agent Coulson.
That's why she insisted on carrying out the mission; she had to remind Agent Coulson.
"To be honest, Audrey Nathan looks a lot like someone else," Agent Hand remarked as she stopped Coulson's team's vehicle. But that wasn't the point. Agent Hand had the special operations team open the car door, and Gemma Simmons shielded the terrified Audrey Nathan behind her. But the next moment, her eyes lit up when she saw Agent Hand suddenly appear, and she let out a heavy sigh of relief.
"We actually have reinforcements?" She was initially pleased, but quickly realized something was wrong. "We didn't inform anyone else, and after the cold storage was breached, you also..." Agent Simond's face turned horrified. She shoved Audrey forcefully into the car. "You're Hydra!"
Agent Tripplett attempted to draw his gun but was quickly pinned to the hood by the special operations team. His grandfather was a member of the Howling Commandos and a loyal S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. He was also the most wounded when Coulson's team discovered that John Gartler was Clairvoyant and Hydra. John Gartler had deceived him, causing his friend's death at the hands of Hydra. He could barely control his hatred for Hydra.
"That's what Grant Ward told you?" Agent Victoria Hand patted the car door mockingly. "You even requisitioned my car. Where's Agent Coulson? I need to find him."
Agent Simonte trembled with fear. "I can't..." she said, her voice trembling with tears, "I can't..."
"Calm down, young lady." Agent Hand glanced at her. She remained as indifferent as ever, completely ignoring Audrey Nathan, who was equally terrified inside the car. "Whatever Grant Ward told you was a lie. John Gatler isn't dead, and Grant Ward is Hydra too. I initially thought he wasn't, so I let him shoot John Gatling... and he killed me. After I died, my body was found, and then I came back to life."
"who……"
"That's classified." Agent Hand waved her hand, signaling the special operations team to release Agent Triplet. Agent Triplet quickly went to Agent Simonster's side—he was the only operations expert there, and he had to take responsibility for protecting his teammates. He didn't know if Agent Hand was lying. "You're all S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, that's for sure," she said. "The situation is urgent; I need to find Agent Coulson."
Gemma Simmons took a deep breath. She glanced at Agent Triplet, then nodded, as if making a decision.
She turned on the communicator.
"Sir," she glanced at Agent Hand, "there might be something you want to know."
Agent Hand lowered his finger, temporarily halting the Sisterhood's support from the stealthy Quincy fighter jets overhead.
