Marvel Magic Case Files
Chapter 564 Mother Earth
Chapter 564 Earth Mother Goddess (First Update)
Due to the corruption of dark magic, every piece of land in En-Gara is tainted with a morbid curse. The plants that grow here are highly poisonous and carnivorous, some even running wildly uprooted. The animals grow limbs and organs that should have degenerated during evolution; moreover, some organs are in illogical positions, like haphazardly pieced-together children's toys.
Every breath of air here was stimulating the nerves of the fleet members; they were almost incapable of thinking. Any creature that seemed normal outside would become insane and twisted here. First Mate Alex rubbed his eyes, almost unable to believe what he was seeing.
The creature, with its several greasy black tentacles and a hundred malevolent, morbid yellow eyes, suddenly emerged from a deep, impenetrable cave among the rocks. It grabbed a crew member by the leg with its spiked, serrated suckers and dragged the unfortunate man into the cave at a speed almost imperceptible to the naked eye. The sound of bones cracking and the muffled, abrupt screams startled the crew. Without orders, everyone immediately opened fire on the cave. They killed the monster, but everyone was still shaken.
They shouldn't have disembarked; they should have obeyed the captain's orders.
"But the captain hasn't returned by the scheduled time!" The cat-man technician angrily waved its paws. No matter how the first mate tried to persuade it, it resisted anything that could blow hot air or make noise, so its brown fur remained damp and matted together. "The captain won't abandon us!" the cat-man growled threateningly. "It must be this evil place's doing! We have to go save the captain; we owe him more than just a life!"
"Quiet, you bunch of idiots!" First Mate Alex slapped the cat-man hard. He then took a step forward and slapped a pink-skinned creature. But when it came to the bio-robot, the First Mate hesitated, then lowered his hand. The bio-robot tilted its head, not understanding why the First Mate had interrupted the process. First Mate Alex coughed twice, stepping on the corpse of the giant, tentacle-covered monster, the space-burrowing octopus, and raised his arms, loudly announcing to the crew, "The captain is different from you. You bunch of scum from the gutter, scum who never pay back their debts, garbage-eating worms! And you, you never-wash-you-neglect bastard, a breeding ground for parasites! The captain protected you through the most dangerous void in the galaxy, a feat you could never accomplish in your lifetime! He gave you new value; he lifted you to the top of all civilizations in the galaxy! We know better than anyone what threats the real universe faces!"
The crew members whispered among themselves, agreeing with the first mate's assessment.
"The captain protects you, fighting against the most evil and vile creatures in the universe. Unlike us mortals, he possesses immense power and came into this world to enlighten us! You must obey his commands, every single word, every single utterance! Without the captain, we are nothing but a bunch of blindly worshipping primitive creatures! Without the captain, we are nothing but a bunch of degenerate and selfish scum! Obeying every command of the captain is the moral law upon which we live!"
"I object to such superstitious beliefs, great mother," Salomon said to the woman with beautiful long brown hair before him. Even though his words were sharp and merciless, when they came out, their harshness, like a hard glacier, was melted by the woman's all-encompassing, tender maternal love. She wore a simple, deep green classic dress, a creamy white pebble belt loosely tied around her waist. Her face contained all the gentleness and warmth of the world; even in the most treacherous soil, where her perfect feet trod, grass would grow and the most beautiful flowers would bloom.
She is the Mother of the Pantheon, the Lady of Light.
She is nature itself, Mother Earth, and the warm cradle of all humankind.
After Merlin led Salomon and Dave into the Merlin Wizarding Order's camp, he didn't immediately attend to official business. Instead, he had Salomon meditate deeply at the altar in the meditation room. When Salomon's astral form left his body, accompanied by warm light like winter sunshine and the fragrance of grass, he met the World Soul of Terra. He was speaking to the Earth Mother in spirit form, and as long as the Earth Mother was willing to listen, no one would disturb him.
Before he could speak, Mother Earth embraced him.
"My child, my poor child." The Earth Mother smiled, gently stroking Salomon's cheek. Even the most hardened heart in the world would be moved by her tenderness. Salomon sighed deeply. His will was unwavering; his recently softened defenses quickly froze again. The Earth Mother noticed his change, but she didn't mind at all. "I will help you, my child," the Earth Mother said. "In this universe, no one understands life better than I do. I also understand your ultimate goal. It is evolution, which only you can complete. You are the chosen one."
"I object to this superstitious belief, great mother."
"Your sense of humor is commendable," the Earth Mother said, stroking Salomon's long hair. The sorcerer did not resist. According to the lineage, whether as Athena's adopted son or a sorcerer of Kamar-Taj, Salomon shared a significant kinship with the Earth Mother. "Your stigmata have already revealed your true nature. Didn't you begin using your innate talents to fight against Sithon even before your voyage?"
Salomon remained silent.
"You have come to seek my help; this is the choice of fate, for only I can help you unravel the knowledge of life in another universe." The Earth Mother knelt down on the grass beside Salomon, her deep green dress blooming like a flower, radiating a maternal power that could melt hearts and a force mixed with the instinct to give birth, emitting a gentle light that made Salomon feel as if he were being immersed in warm water.
"Perhaps the Sorcerer Supreme has already told you the story of the birth and fall of the Old Gods. To prevent the naturally born Old Gods from falling, I and the Creator had Atum. You know what happened after that, so I won't go into details. But no one knows where the Creator came from, so I'm going to tell you a fact—that the so-called Creator was actually summoned by me from another universe. That's why I can help you. Gnosticism came incredibly close to the truth, but it wasn't accurate enough. That Creator came from another universe, and the God Eater was born in the mind because it itself was a product of my and the Creator's dream."
Salomon held his breath. He had already guessed at the tip of the iceberg—a truth of unparalleled horror. He could feel the silver key on his chest burning hot.
He could understand the Earth Mother's actions. Choosing the lesser of two evils, selecting the less terrible outcome from all the worst possible results, was an easy choice. Even if that choice was named ■■■■■Azathoth■■■■■, it was still better than the entire universe falling into the hands of the Chaos Demons. Even though Atum the God Eater ultimately died, his remains still gave birth to a second generation of gods, including his reincarnation, a small fraction of the power he once possessed.
The actions of Mother Earth have given life a chance to win.
"Which one of me is it?" he asked. "I mean, the ones I remember."
"Neither, and both," said the Earth Mother. "Your birth is the result of many efforts, because I need you to complete the ultimate goal of human evolution. Just like summoning the Creator, I made another deal. You are my pride, my child. The reason I gave that sword to King Arthur was so that you could one day obtain it."
The Earth Mother gently stroked the sorcerer's cheek, guiding him to gradually calm down.
"I waged war against the ancient gods to guide evolution. I protected mammals from Set, wiped out dinosaurs and many reptiles, and led the Celestials to destroy the Serpent People, all for the sake of evolution. Dinosaurs had no potential for evolution, but humans did. I believe you have also seen humanity's potential." She kissed Salomon's cheek. "To complete this plan, I will become a mother once more, bearing the power of your ultimate creations, those children."
