Marvel Magic Case Files
Chapter 565 Free Will
Chapter 565 Free Will (Second Update)
Salomon possesses an incredibly ruthless will and determination.
The so-called Salomon is merely a product of the deep fusion of a magical entity and a physical body, ultimately born into this world by the hands of multiple gods—a being who can barely be called human. Azathoth, Yog-Sothoth, Shub-Niggurath, Gaia the Earth Mother, and perhaps also Io, the Eternal God, and the Lady of Death. The process of his creation is a vast black box; even Salomon himself is unaware of the specifics of his birth. He coldly proclaims his true nature, using pure reason and appallingly cold-blooded logic to state the fact that he lacks free will.
Free will is an illusion that can never be pierced, a problem that the human mind cannot solve. Neither Pierre-Simon Laplace, Robert Kane, nor Harry Frankfurt can clarify the metaphysical question of whether humans possess free will. From a macro perspective, Salomon's fate was predetermined from the start. He was destined to be adopted by the Sorcerer Supreme, destined to be instilled with the ideals of upholding human reason, and destined to lead humanity to complete its evolution, fulfilling the millennia-long plan laid out by the Earth Mother Gaia. This plan had already begun when the Earth Mother decided to remove reptiles from the food chain, brazenly launching a war against the Old God Set, and even cooperating with the Celestials to exterminate the Serpent People.
He accepted this fact calmly.
Perhaps the old man with the crooked nose in the other world was right; love is the greatest magic in the world. Bayonetta, Joan of Arc, the Venerable One, Athena… these people gave him love. He was certain that their love for him stemmed from free will, not design. To protect these people, he didn't mind becoming a tool, and even if those who gave him love were gone, he would pour his love into the entire race, just as he was originally designed. To maintain the continuation of humanity and to complete humanity's ascension.
Perhaps his idea of "leading humanity to greatness" was instilled in him from the very beginning. But so what? Everyone needs to play a role, and he just happens to be that role, and he is willing to take on this responsibility.
The Earth Mother greatly admired Salomon's ruthless logic. She knew that Salomon was willing to sacrifice many things to achieve this goal, and humanity was the only obstacle standing in his way. But the Earth Mother was certain that Salomon would one day awaken his divinity and become a god among men.
There was only one thing he couldn't tolerate.
"And what about Jezebel?" Salomon asked in a deep voice, pushing away the Earth Mother. "What about the woman who died giving birth to me?"
"Do not try to save everyone, Salomon," Mother Earth said calmly. "Do not mourn for her. I have altered Jezebel's destiny, bestowing upon her my blessing; otherwise, her fate would have been far more tragic. Everyone is a tool, including her. Only she can become the excellent Mother, allowing the will of the multiverse to entrust your soul to her. Whom do you seek revenge against, yourself?"
Salomon overturned his previous conclusion.
He possessed free will, for the flame of vengeance still burned within him. He turned to leave, but the Earth Mother called to him. She rose, her skirts billowing, exuding a graceful and dignified beauty.
"I will not interfere with your actions, child." The Earth Mother spoke as if looking at her rebellious child, her tone gentle yet authoritative, like magma gathering strength deep within the earth. "I am glad you have the intention to complete the plan. With your wisdom, you should be able to understand the concepts of the Arrow of Time and entropy; you should know that this is the only way to complete the plan. Even if you don't want to now, you will return in the future; it is destined."
She pointed to the silver key hidden beneath Salomon's robes, her aura unprecedentedly aggressive, like the biting cold of the Arctic, revealing the fury of a tsunami or a volcanic eruption. She was Earth, she was nature itself, Mother Earth, a woman of both harshness and compassion, encompassing and punishing all. "The Time Stone can see all the possibilities of the future, and so can the silver key. The Time Stone only works in one universe because it's a key of compatibility. The silver key works in every universe because it represents the truth. The silver key can even allow you to jump through time, without the permission of eternity—I've already compiled the knowledge you wanted. I know you want to try it yourself, but you've already tried. Your future self left that to your past self; your present self only needs to retrieve it."
Salomon knew that what the Earth Mother Goddess said was true, and he also guessed where that thing might be hidden.
Prophecy, from the shadows of a future timeline, Laura Crawford.
"From a higher perspective, time in the three-dimensional world does not flow linearly."
"Yes, you have created what you wanted. But compared to my plan, those things cannot complete the final plan," she said. "Use the silver key. You will see your future, you will see all the steps, all the details, to complete the plan. You will choose the one with the best outcome to execute, and I don't think it will be a difficult choice. You will see that I am right. I will become the mother of your offspring, and then you can find others to complete the work, to finish those tools—my descendant with the name of wisdom can also do so, whether she is a virgin goddess or one of those witches, whatever you want. You are a strong, handsome man, you have the ability to charm them. In any case, I am the spiritual foundation of those tools, I am the original mother of those tools, just as I am your mother."
"In any case, my mother is only Jezebel," Salomon said coldly. "She is buried in the back hills of Kamar-Taj."
The Earth Mother sighed. The harsh snowstorm suddenly dissipated, and warm sunlight once again bathed the earth. "Say whatever you want," she said, lovingly taking the sorcerer's hand. "One day, you will abandon humanity. You know why, because you are my most outstanding offspring, my most perfect creation."
“I have the capacity to make my own choices, Great Mother.” He withdrew his hand, his eyes flashing with unfamiliarity and resistance. He used politeness as armor to resist the gentleness of the Earth Mother. “I am human, because Your Excellency said I am human. And how can I know that you won’t abandon humanity as you abandoned reptiles?”
"You can see for yourself, child. Humanity is destined to rule the galaxy; this is my ideal, and it is yours as well." Gaia took a small step forward, her human form slightly shorter than Salomon's, allowing Salomon to look down upon her fertile and alluring body. However, this did nothing to affect Salomon, who had received Kamar-Taj education from a young age. Absolute self-discipline, absolute rationality.
"I swear by my real name until the end of time."
“I will verify it myself, Great Mother,” Salomon said calmly. “Karmar-Taj’s ideal is to liberate humanity from the will of the gods. God, Vishanti, and even you. Your Holiness does it, and I will do it; this has always been Kamar-Taj’s mission. I will decide for myself what to do and what not to do next. But one thing is certain.”
"Destiny!" Gaia smiled.
"Yes, this is destiny. But it belongs to humanity, not to Vishanti, nor to you."
