Chapter 568 Sky Carrier

Chapter 568 Sky Carrier (First Update)

Located 2000 meters deep in a trench on the Tyrrhenian Sea southwest of Civitavecchia, a massive platform coated with black anti-rust paint slowly rises. This submarine volcano, situated on the Euro-African Fault, was compressed and overturned; its solidified black crust cracked, and the seawater, upon contact with the bright orange magma, violently vaporized and churned into a series of rapidly rising, massive white bubbles. Under immense water pressure, the bubbles became incredibly dense, like clumps of fine white dust. The bubbles gradually rose, expanded, connected, then separated again, finally cooling and disappearing completely into the dark, icy seawater. The magma solidified upon contact with water, growing and accumulating wildly, like a natural Tower of Babel, only to collapse due to its haphazard growth and the impact of water vapor.

A massive amount of seawater was displaced, creating deadly undercurrents on the surface of the sea.

Located midway between three shipping routes between the Apennine Peninsula and Sardinia, this place was originally a water park from the last century. However, due to a series of reasons including economic crisis, poor site selection, protests from environmental organizations, technical limitations, and investor bankruptcy, construction on the water park was completely halted. This presented an excellent opportunity for the Immortal City. Stephanie purchased the project at a very low price, and the Wakanda used their advanced engineering machinery to transform the water park, making it the base for another Immortal City outside of Rome—in Italian government records, it's still considered a water park, though the project is expected to be completed in about a hundred years. No one can be fooled by such a claim, but when Stephanie used money and power as weapons, the Italian government had little objection. They had long wanted to alleviate a potential debt crisis, and everyone was happy to sell a long-abandoned and unwanted water park, especially since the money Stephanie offered was enough to make them disregard its intended use.

A circular elevator platform emerged from the water, accompanied by a deafening mechanical roar, as its serrated hinges slowly retracted. A modified sky carrier, powered by its own engines, gradually ascended, defying gravity. This sky carrier differed greatly from Hydra's; the Wakanda had not only added stern thrusters but also sealed the upper and lower decks entirely with alloy armor plates. The superguns previously located beneath the carrier were now dispersed to the sides, leaving only a trapezoidal aircraft entrance on the upper deck. The side decks, which should have housed aircraft, were now filled with long macro cannon barrels, resembling a battleship floating in the sky. These swords of destruction and death now lay quietly on the deck, ready to be drawn when necessary. The thrusters pushed through the seawater, slowly rising into the sky, above the clouds. Then, the stern thrusters unleashed long, cone-shaped, azure plasma flames, carrying the behemoth with its electromagnetic barrier deployed, piercing the sky at astonishing speed.

The appearance of this war behemoth went unnoticed by the Italian military or the U.S. Naval Command in Naples, Europe. Stealth technology from the Immortal City completely erased its presence from radar; only the roar of its engines drew the attention of tourists along the route. Some tourists with binoculars noticed the golden rose and sword emblem painted on the black alloy armor plates, while those who took photos were astonished to find their cameras either formatted instantly or burst into flames and burned completely. The Sorority received the signal, and an excited Tita and the other members stopped everything they were doing. They oiled their weapons and polished their armor until it gleamed. Ignoring Su Rui's objections, the Sorority insisted on equipping the only refurbished Sky Carrier with ammunition, a full crew, and the girls who had just joined the Sorority. They boarded the newly refitted ship, still reeking of paint and oil, and started the recently completed elevator platform.

They couldn't wait to greet their master.

After the modifications, the combat personnel's quarters on the Skycarrier were exceptionally cramped; Lyudmila felt that even turning over in bed was a luxury. The rooms had no windows, and thick armor plates isolated the air from the carrier, ensuring stable air pressure. For such a space-constrained vessel, every square centimeter was carefully considered to make room for the new reactor and powerful macrogun. Despite this, the designers still managed to provide a sufficiently spacious meeting room for the Sisters of the Air on the bridge.

Lyudmila and Lilia, due to their age, ability, loyalty, diligence, and faith, became the first human girls to join the Sorority. Their tragic past had left them utterly hopeless until the arrival of the Sorority. Underwent extremely rigorous training and education, they learned to use explosive guns, longswords, and power armor; they learned prayers and etiquette praising their masters; they learned basic medicine, mathematics, physics, and chemistry; they learned tactics and strategies from around the world, from ancient times to the present; they learned etiquette and grammar difficult for ordinary people to master; and they learned elegant dances and ancient philosophy typically reserved for the upper class and bourgeoisie. Furthermore, they consumed special potions provided by the Sorority; without these potions, the courses would have been enough to destroy their minds and bodies.

While they were still training, Ms. Catherine told them that the human enhancement surgery was still in the experimental stage, and if the experiment was successful, they would have the opportunity to improve their physical fitness in all aspects in the future.

Following orders transmitted to their personal terminals and instructions from the crew, they arrived here. A ceremony prepared for them was underway. Ladies in power armor adorned with gilded rose emblems stood around a round table. In the center of the table was a magnificent, jewel-encrusted high-backed chair facing numerous control panels and reinforced glass, its armrests formed by giant golden eagle wings. Fully armed Lady Dita stood before the chair. She did not sit down, for that seat belonged to its occupant. Under the watchful eyes of the older ladies, with the aid of temporary robotic arms, they donned full sets of black power armor and crimson robes, then knelt respectfully and humbly on one knee to receive their weapons personally bestowed upon them by Lady Dita.

They swore to make the most of their weapons. These were just standard chainsaw swords and bolt pistols; they had also received specialized training in other weapons to ensure they could use any means necessary to destroy the monarch's enemies.

Ms. Dita had smooth, wheat-colored skin, and her beauty made Lyudmila and Lilia unable to look directly at her. Their past lives left indelible scars on their bodies; Lilia's two fingers were entirely made of high-tech machinery, and she could even feel touch through them.

"Raise your heads." The lady's command was unquestionable. The two human girls forced themselves to look at Tita's perfect face, not at the ornate longsword and artistically designed scabbard hanging at her waist. This was only the second time they had seen the sword; they had sworn an oath to it when they joined the training. It was said that this longsword, radiating a dazzling light, had been forged by their great master, and only the highest commander of the Sisterhood was qualified to wear and use it. "My Lord said that the heart is the most powerful weapon, and even more important is your loyalty. From this day forward, you are our sisters. Your past lives are no longer relevant; your sole purpose in life is to be loyal to my Lord."

Catherine winked at them happily.

"Yes, madam." The girls suppressed their excitement. They knew the reason for their hasty departure; they were about to meet the one they were sworn to. They had heard the sorority speak of that person immediately after their rescue, and they knew it was that person who had saved them. They had made their choice; they preferred fighting to returning home. Lyudmila and Lilia were among the older girls rescued, and their relationship had grown incredibly close through daily training, like that of true sisters.

"Stand up!" Tita's fingers brushed against the two girls' shoulder armor, adorned with the gilded insignia of new recruits; the friction between the steel made no sound. "Welcome, sisters. Remember our oath and our secret."

Lyudmila put on her helmet, concealing her short, shoulder-length blonde hair. Looking at the battle plan displayed on the holographic projection of the helmet, she mustered her courage and asked, "Where are we to meet my lord, madam?"

"An isolated island south of the Lat Islands in the Western Aleutian Census District, it has no specific name, only a number," Tita said. "Intelligence has already gone there to investigate, and we will eliminate any army that might threaten our Lord, if any."
