Chapter 569 Lifelong Mission
Chapter 569 A Lifelong Mission (Second Update)
Salomon rubbed his stinging eyes and chanted a low incantation to soothe his mind.
The fruit of wisdom bestowed by the Earth Mother was incredibly helpful in organizing the knowledge granted to him by the Black Goat of the Forest, Sabrigula. The Apple of Flesh wasn't merely symbolic; the Black Goat's knowledge was like compiling a garbled document into a program, and the Apple of Flesh provided the code, transforming all that knowledge into a readable document, even capable of running on Salomon's two magical systems (warlock/mage). From both a scientific and magical perspective, Salomon's understanding of life had deepened, and he was about to perfect his genetic alchemy. He couldn't wait to see Laura Crawford's work rather than return to Kamar-Taj or the witch's embrace—if it truly came from him, he would definitely recognize it. "Heir to the King of Midgard, High Deacon of the Kamar-Taj Order, Pass Code 1331, First Priority." He impatiently pressed a button on the captain's throne armrest, connecting to the ship's loudspeaker, "Let the Asgardians pass!"
"Captain, this Asgardian female officer insists..."
"Salomon Damonette, this is a routine check!" A very assertive female voice boomed into the captain's cabin through the crew's communicator. "I can't believe you dared to bring a bunch of pirates into the Nine Realms! Is that a cat-person? Does it have any interstellar parasites? How is it holding a wrench with its claws?"
"Good evening or good morning, Ms. Sif." Salomon breathed a sigh of relief. "By Odin, I guarantee the cat-man has been bathed and given an insecticide alchemy potion strong enough to kill it! Please don't disturb its maintenance work, okay? Don't touch it, it's shedding fur! Don't remove the cyborg's battery! Don't shake the brain in that nutrient tank! I swear on the honor of Kamar-Taj, they are all under my control, and all interstellar viruses and bacteria will be incinerated by the atmosphere. If possible, could you ask your brother for a favor and send this fleet to the edge of the Midgard solar system? I will submit the official documents in the follow-up work."
"The fee will be charged to your account, and settled in gold."
"Damn it, wasn't it supposed to be free?" Salomon angrily hung up the communication. He was certain this was Loki's crazy idea; who knew Asgard would actually raise the toll rate, and Kamar-Taj would be removed from the tax-free list! Although the Kamar-Taj portal could bypass the regulations, this was still infuriating enough. But complaints aside, the fleet's nuclear reactor could no longer sustain sub-light-speed travel. According to the first mate's report, due to the recent rough travel, the temperature of the cooling pipes had exceeded the safety threshold, reaching a level where even magma could act as a coolant. As for the corpses of the mutineer crew members, they had already sublimated into gas and been released through the outer space vents.
Salomon waited a moment, and then the Rainbow Bridge enveloped all the ships, transferring the entire fleet to the outskirts of Pluto. Near Hydra, he used his magic to notify Stephanie in the Immortal City. It was just a third-circle spell, capable of sending text or voice directly to the recipient, regardless of their magical talent or mental strength. The possibility of communication distortion within the solar system was low, and the difficulty was not great; he believed even the talentless Stephanie could understand the communication. He needed Stephanie to take control of the situation first, ensuring Laura Crawford wouldn't have any problems—in fact, Salomon felt Stephanie seemed to have changed somewhat. Perhaps it was from spending so much time with him, but before he left Earth, their understanding had suddenly increased, and Salomon couldn't judge whether this change was good or bad—he hoped Stephanie was alright; he felt he needed to pay more attention to his little secretary. She was thirty-three years old and desperately needed to become younger and more talented. Perhaps she is showing her talent, but it has always been overlooked by Salomon in the past.
At the same time, he was also worried about the future that Mother Earth had shown him.
It wasn't just the time travel that was neither here nor there, but more so his own plans. If his future self hadn't traveled to the past and, through the genetic alchemy results left behind by the immortal prophet Laura was tracking, Salomon would never have known that the prophecy, the hint from fate, originated from him. He also wouldn't have known that the so-called divine source in the immortal prophet's possession might very well be his own creation. He didn't know exactly how much his future self had left behind, or whether it was within the red lines of temporal continuity, but he believed his future self would understand where the bottom line was—even if the red lines were crossed, it meant the future situation would be even more dire, and his future self's actions were absolutely necessary.
Just as he was almost asleep, a communication from the first mate pulled him from his slumbering reverie.
"Captain, we've reached the outer atmosphere of our target planet C-53 and are synchronizing with its rotation. There seem to be some rather primitive orbital satellites and space stations here, unarmed and ready to be raided at any moment." The first mate's voice sounded tense. "Are we really going to go against Asgard? Although the brothers have no objections..."
"Who said we were going to plunder, you idiots!" Salomon was nearly driven mad by his brainless crew. "Are my carrier-based aircraft ready?"
"Ready, Captain! Shall we deliver your conquest speech?"
"Shut up, then come to the captain's cabin."
The arrival of the alien fleet greatly alarmed nations with detection satellites, especially the United States. A moment later, a rainbow bridge spanned the alien fleet, and this mysterious alien force vanished instantly. Simultaneously, an unassuming atmospheric shuttle was hurtling towards Earth under intense heat. The entire spacecraft trembled violently, crimson flames engulfing it. The intense heat and ablative materials were locked in a fierce struggle, tiny metal fragments constantly being burned to ashes. The servo system controlled the thrusters, barely maintaining balance amidst the turbulent airflow, preserving the planned landing angle as it flew towards its target location.
Salomon, seated in the pilot's seat, secured himself with restraints to prevent the spacecraft from throwing him out during descent. He took a deep breath. This was the most challenging phase of descent; the area within the atmosphere, 80-100 kilometers deep, known as the reentry phase, saw significantly increased air density, and temperatures at the bottom of the spacecraft reached thousands of degrees Celsius.
But he wasn't worried about his own safety; he was worried about the fleet.
He gave the first mate a task, a task that he would have to carry out for the rest of his life.
First Officer Alex needs to dedicate his life to maintaining this fleet, driving away any ships that might approach the weak points of En-Gara and the Prime Material Universe, and taking extreme measures to ensure that no corrupted creature leaves the area. The entire fleet must be primarily engaged in hunting, while constantly recruiting and selecting new members. He promised that someone would take over this task in the future, but until then, he needs the First Officer to do his utmost to carry out this incredibly difficult mission.
To this end, Salomon specially gifted First Mate Alex a potion to extend his lifespan and appointed him captain. Due to the Celestials' genetic modifications, the potion was also effective against the Kree. As for the First Mate and crew's reluctance to part, Salomon ruthlessly ignored it. Just as the Earth Mother had said, Salomon possessed an incredibly cold logic and determination, just as she herself had forged.
