Chapter 627 Maintain Faith
Chapter 627 Maintain Faith (Second Update)
"You have three minutes," Captain Rogers said, watching Vision and Thor walk out one after another, before giving the order to the others. Although the others were still somewhat uneasy, the situation was urgent, and they could only take it one step at a time. Fortunately, the Avengers' equipment, which they had stored in another room, had not been damaged in the battle, and they could still replenish their supplies and change into new clothes.
"You should know what Salomon would do if he knew Stark had created another artificial intelligence," Wanda Maximoff said to Steve Rogers as she stopped to select equipment. "Whatever he decides to do, I'll be on his side. I've heard of the Infinity Stones, and I know Salomon possesses one of the six."
"I know," Captain Rogers said, a slight headache forming in his eyes. He knew Salomon didn't care about the difference between Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D.; to him, both were simply the ruling classes of secular society. But he could still reach an agreement with Salomon, instructing him to inform the newly emerged sorcerers—or rather, Hydra sorcerers—to avoid chaos when the Avengers encountered them. He hoped Salomon would understand the danger a Hydra sorcerer could pose, and that he would prioritize the order of secular society over the rules of the magical world.
He didn't want Salomon to kill Vision; the Avengers still needed this artificial intelligence.
After the twins boarded the plane, Tony Stark sought out Captain Rogers. Anyone in the Avengers would confide in him about things they wouldn't normally talk about, and Tony Stark was no exception. "Even if only one Iron Man is left, we've lost," Stark said. "This is going to be a tough battle."
"I didn't have any plans for tomorrow night anyway," the captain shrugged.
"I have a plan for tomorrow night." Seeing that she still had to spend time in the headquarters, Agent Victoria Hand couldn't help but complain. She was now regretting not leaving Coulson's team behind and acting with Commander Gonzalez earlier to completely crush the Inhumans. This was also an order from Salomon, but its priority wasn't as high as this mission. She hated missions with opaque intelligence—the Immortal City's intelligence capabilities were nowhere near those of S.H.I.E.L.D., and even the most advanced technology couldn't compensate for a lack of personnel. Even with her best efforts to recruit agents, she still couldn't openly recruit college students and soldiers like S.H.I.E.L.D., let alone instill ideals in those who had just finished their studies.
"Nick Fury's order is complete, and our engineering team is gradually withdrawing from the SHIELD base." Stephanie ignored the intelligence chief's agitation and informed the others of the progress in the most calm tone. She waved her gloved fingers a few times, bringing up a video, several pictures, and a model that no one could understand. Then, she pulled out a signed parchment from a document brought by an Interior Ministry staff member. The dimly lit room was only illuminated by a holographic projection table. Besides the model Stephanie had just moved, there were also reports on the operations of three Sky Carriers and Sky Battleships, the Information Department's task list, rescue plan equipment, combat team rosters, ammunition reserves, ship repair status, fuel status, and the progress of some secret projects that others were not authorized to know. The others could only see a bunch of gibberish.
Aura participated in the meeting as a representative of the sorority, a qualification she was qualified to have as Salomon's life assistant in the Immortal City.
"Our intelligence personnel, the Guard Zero, transmitted information that was decoded by the information department staff, resulting in a video clip," Stephanie said. "Our science department head, Shuri, constructed a rough 3D model of the machine appearing in the video and deduced its approximate function based on intelligence. Don't be too demanding of her; she's very busy. Nick Fury's orders are not easy to fulfill, and we have no way of knowing that Nick Fury actually repaired that Sky Helicarrier and left it there. This proves that we have oversights in our work of plundering S.H.I.E.L.D.'s legacy; Nick Fury has far too many secret bases."
"Finally, some progress." Agent Hand yawned. "No need to look at me like that. Before this, even I didn't know where the first Sky Carrier was."
"Perhaps this is an anti-gravity engine, crude, but very effective." Aura looked at the model's annotations, "Using vibranium as an energy source, as long as the size is large enough."
“Yes, the technology still originates from Stark Industries. But that’s not all.” Stephanie nodded, handing the parchment to Agent Hand, which was filled with Princess Shuri’s analysis of the technology and subsequent handling methods. “In fact, Guard Zero discovered many technologies on those robots that Stark’s Iron Legion has not yet used. Our previous speculation has become a reality: Ultron possesses all of Stark Industries’ technology, including theoretical technologies. We should inform the Sorority and the Special Forces of this news.”
“Of course, but where is Salomon?” Victoria Hand asked. “He should be here commanding, or operating with the attacking forces.”
“If the monarch isn’t telling you what he’s doing, then you don’t need to know,” Aura glanced at the head of intelligence. Clearly, this intelligence chief wanted to expand his authority. Agent Hand waved her hand and continued reading the report by the light. She said, “Surei’s proposed solution is difficult for the Immortal City to complete with its current engineering capabilities. We can’t just drive our construction machinery to Sokovia and dig a huge trench! Perhaps we should tell her what kind of advice we should provide, instead of just talking nonsense; we need tactical guidance.”
"I believe Commander Tita can accomplish all of this," Aura said. "We are not ordinary people. When our Lord created us, He endowed us with many talents that surpass those of ordinary humans. Otherwise, we would not be able to perform many alchemical feats."
"Then send Guard Zero to destroy the core of that anti-gravity device!" Agent Hand could no longer contain her rage. She slammed her hand on the alloy tabletop. "We have to do something! Do you want to see a meteorite bigger than the one that wiped out the dinosaurs fall from the sky?"
Aura glanced at Stephanie, and the head of the internal affairs department nodded slightly. They were among the few who knew the true scope of this mission; they understood Salomon's purpose and were determined to carry out his orders.
"The surgery on Guard Zero is not yet complete, and our lord will not allow him to take such a risk before then," Stephanie said in an extremely gentle voice. "Besides, he's only nine years old. Do you want to send a nine-year-old boy to his death, Agent Hand?"
"Then what can we do?" Victoria Hand sighed.
"Wait, wait for the Sky Battleship to arrive in Sokovia," Aura said. "Once the Sky Battleship arrives, we can send combat teams to the ground and begin evacuation operations."
"What about the local government?"
“There’s only one interim government; they can’t do anything, they know nothing,” Stephanie said. “Have faith in our Lord; he has never let us down. He will never allow extinction to happen, because Kamar-Taj will not allow it. We’ve done what we can, and the Information Department is working tirelessly to analyze Ultron’s weaknesses. Now, let’s wait for Dita’s progress!”
