Chapter 644 Interrogation Expert

Chapter 644 Interrogation Expert (First Update)

Agent Coulson arrived with Agent Victoria Hand, and the science team from Coulson's squad was also in the group.

This trip, however, was far from the easy and pleasant one Salomon had experienced at the S.H.I.E.L.D. base. Blindfolded, they had all electronic devices confiscated before taking an elevator into the Immortal City beneath Rome. Agent Hand brought two extremely important prisoners—her face showed no joy, for these two trophies had killed many loyal agents; Agent Weaver, the head of the S.H.I.E.L.D. academy, had narrowly escaped. Fortunately, Skye had seen through her mother's true nature and cooperated with Agent Hand. Later, with the channel code provided by Agent Coulson and the combat troops under Agent Hand's command, they were able to completely eliminate the Inhumans from the S.H.I.E.L.D. base.

Due to the immature technology, the people sent through the teleportation chamber were all in poor condition. To ensure that the important prisoners arrived at the Immortal City unharmed, Hand agents personally escorted them.

Gemma Simmons and Leopold Fitz are very interested in this underground city, but they can't just wander around. They're being watched wherever they go.

Skye's father, Carl, was extremely humorous and likable before being injected with his self-concocted drug. Before everything happened, he was a very kind man. He even gave up a lucrative medical job to provide medical aid in a newly developing rural China, where he married, had children, and planned to live a peaceful life. Yet, no one could imagine how this man, on a dark, rainy night, rummaged through a garbage can to retrieve his wife's remains, searching for suitable organs amidst the blackened, foul-smelling blood and debris, painstakingly stitching them back together and then disassembling them again, all to save her life. After experiencing such a thing, no one could believe he wasn't mentally unstable. Skye, knowing about Jia Ying's experience of being vivisectioned, couldn't blame her parents for such extreme actions, but that didn't stop her from stopping her mother from continuing to kill S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

"It was like gutting a fish! They hooked her up and gutted her!" Whenever Carl recounted this experience, his face was filled with pain and resentment. Simmons asked another inappropriate question. "I searched for Jia Ying's bones and organs among the remains of pigs, cows, and humans, and then sewed her back together piece by piece! Whitehall, where is Whitehall! I'm going to kill him! I'm going to cut him open..."

"Sorry, sir. He was perfectly normal before the transfer." Agent Hand looked through the reinforced one-way glass window at the man inside, tightly bound with straps, his face covered in sweat and displaying signs of madness. Agents Coulson and Salomon stood beside her, silent. This was where ordinary prisoners were held. Although Karl had gained superhuman strength through his self-constructed potions, he was still just a mortal in the Immortal City. All the Inhuman prisoners had been injected with large amounts of sedatives and imprisoned here, including Skye's mother, Jia Ying. Compared to the secrets buried within the Immortal City, the Inhumans weren't really that dangerous; there was no need to use stricter measures.

"We don't yet know the effects of gorilla testosterone on humans," Simmons explained, somewhat bewildered.

"What exactly do you want to know? Our cooperation should be about exchanging intelligence, not making unilateral decisions." Agent Coulson had to accompany the Immortal City agents to prevent them from taking any drastic actions against the Inhumans—neither Salomon nor Hand agents would do such a thing, and they had no interest in making such pointless promises. However, neither Salomon nor Hand agents were willing to answer his question. He asked several more times before finally getting a rather vague answer.

"You should know what kind of organization the Immortal City is, Coulson," the arcane mage said. "S.H.I.E.L.D. can only focus on Earth; disputes between different countries are meaningless to us. The Immortal City, on the other hand, faces a much wider variety of threats; extradimensional and alien threats are our true enemies."

"So Jiaying and those Inhumans are also connected to those things?" Coulson frowned. "You can tell me what you want to know...maybe I can find out. Stop beating around the bush, Salomon, we all want to protect humanity. Tell me what you want to know, Skye can ask Jiaying."

“You don’t know, Agent Coulson, you don’t even know how the Inhumans extracted Terrigen. Such a seemingly insignificant question could very well indicate a terrible truth, and I must know the truth. The interrogation results will tell the whole story,” Salomon said. “I don’t trust Skye… not that I think she’ll be persuaded by Jia Ying, but that I don’t believe she can be ruthless enough to conduct a standard interrogation. She hasn’t even been taught how to interrogate someone. It’s not that I don’t sympathize with Jia Ying’s past, because it’s a tragedy caused by the most evil side of humanity—indifference, because no one treated her like a human being.”

Agent Coulson noticed the deep remorse on Salomon's face. He didn't believe it was an act; he knew Salomon. But he also knew that once someone made a painful decision, there was no going back.

"Coulson, what happened to Jia Ying is a bitter fruit of our own making, but as a member of Kamar-Taj, I absolutely cannot allow an extermination to occur. No matter how cruel, I must get the answers from Jia Ying. Agent Hand, go and bring Wanda Maximoff and our interrogation experts over. As long as certain information has existed in Jia Ying's mind, Wanda and I can use our magic to dig it out completely, to find out what the threat we face in the future really is."

Attilan, the city of the Inhumans.

Salomon was wary of the city. He didn't know if Jia Ying had obtained the technology to extract Terrigen from there; after all, it would be difficult for a group of Inhumans scattered around the world to do so. Perhaps the Inhumans' superpowers could accomplish things that current technology couldn't, but that required sufficient knowledge from them. Moreover, Salomon couldn't understand how Jia Ying managed to find those unawakened Inhumans all over the world; these questions needed to be pried out of her.

His interrogation expert was an outsider, Agent Natasha Romanoff. She had become close friends with Wanda Maximoff. The sorcerer could teach Wanda magic, but was powerless in other areas. Therefore, Natasha also became Wanda's mentor in life, a regular at the penthouse afternoon tea parties. Perhaps she wanted to document Wanda Maximoff's situation and, incidentally, keep in touch with the sorcerer, but in any case, the help she provided to Wanda was undeniable.

Salomon invited her to inform the Avengers about the Inhumans. However, the main force behind the interrogation wasn't her, but rather the brain-disrupting magic and potions. Salomon needed to know all the information Jia Ying possessed to find any clues connecting it to the Inhuman city.

"You can take Karl with you. As for Jiaying... I promise, I will give her the most peaceful death."
