Chapter 654 Armed Satellite

Chapter 654 Armed Satellite (First Update)

A young intelligence specialist submitted a intercepted message to the intelligence coordination department, which then prioritized it and sent it along with the identity of the mortal cult members arrested by the Sorority to the Helicarrier's command center. This intercepted message originated from the Avengers and the FBI. Infiltration between US intelligence agencies is extremely serious, with the FBI particularly riddled with infiltration, especially after Salomon took over the legacy of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra, further intensifying this effort. Those intelligence-selling agents have no idea who they are working for; they only know what kind of intelligence they need to intercept, nothing more.

Upon receiving this intelligence, the composed Agent Victoria Hand immediately issued instructions.

"Space Combat Division, access the Immortal City's armed satellite." Her order was transmitted back to Immortal City via a geostationary satellite. "Shoot down Stark Industries' Veronica satellite and send a message to the Avengers. The message is as follows: This is a warning, Tony Stark. If you interfere again, it will be considered an act of war, and Immortal City will use all its resources to destroy the Avengers. Over, send."

Under orders from the Immortal City, the secondary geostationary satellite, equipped with a nuclear reactor, activated its thrusters, detached from the satellite chain, and flew towards the unarmed Avengers satellites. These satellites, designed to protect communication satellites, were therefore equipped with weaponry prohibited by international conventions, including electromagnetic pulse weapons specifically designed for space warfare. To the astonishment of the Avengers base staff, the crucial Veronica series satellites lost contact one by one, followed by the communication satellites—regardless of whether Tony Stark was an Avenger or not, he was the owner of a publicly traded company, and these satellites were recent achievements of Stark Industries, many of them company property. The massive loss of communication satellites severely impacted Stark Industries' communications operations, including Pepper Potts' space exploration plan submitted to Congress.

However, in the reports submitted by the reservists of the space navy in the Immortal City, this was considered collateral damage, due to their lack of proficiency and unfamiliarity with the fire control system. For this, they would be punished with whipping.

"We've lost twenty percent of our satellites... Here's a message from the Sky Carrier Retribution..."

Victoria Hand's warning sent Tony Stark's blood boiling, but Steve Rogers remained calm.

"The Immortal City has nuclear weapons, right?" he asked Natasha Romanov. The female spy gave an affirmative answer and stated that Salomon possessed even more terrifying weaponry, but she did not know what it was.

"I suspect Salomon deliberately gave me that intelligence to make the Avengers understand his power," Natasha Romanoff said. "I'm only sure of one thing: nuclear weapons aren't such a difficult technology for Salomon's Immortal City."

"Can you point out the location of the Immortal City?"

“No, I always go to the Immortal City through a magical portal.” Natasha sized up the furious Stark, then glanced at the serious-faced Steve Rogers. She shook her head. “To understand what that means, think of it as me traveling through a wormhole; the GPS system simply wouldn’t work. And inside the Immortal City, any communication with the outside world is strictly controlled, including radio. I’m sorry.”

"You've done a great job."

"If you don't mind, I'd like to go to... that's a lady's business." Natasha Romanov had originally intended to suggest that she go to the kitchen to get something to eat, but when she saw Pietro, she subconsciously changed her mind. She closed the bathroom door and took out her phone to send a message.

"Thanks for your help." Salomon sent the message and then put his phone away.

He glanced at the dilapidated church and the toppled golden cross. The tainted magical aura and malevolent curses had faded considerably, but they were still somewhat unbearable for a normal human. Those malicious artifacts and objects were not fit to leave this town; he had no doubt that whoever possessed them would meet a violent end. "Burn this place," he said to Wanda. "Only fire can cleanse this horrific place."

"Only churches?" Wanda asked, taking out her wand. Salomon shook his head.

"No, all of it. This is a declaration. If the mastermind is indeed the Boone family—that is, James Boone or the missing Philip Boone—they will certainly know about the burning of Jerusalem. They will speed things up, or try to eliminate us. Either way, it will only expose them faster, allowing the Agamotto crystal ball to locate them." The sorceress also took out a wand, just like the one she had given Wanda, inlaid with priceless rubies.

He and Wanda stepped out of the church. After a few short incantations, a violent explosion and raging flames engulfed the damp wooden planks, billowing out astonishing smoke and dust. The moldy wooden buildings were dried and charred by the magic-fueled incantations. The fire, aided by magic, began to spread, from the burning church to the tannery and blacksmith's shop. Whether it was oak, blackthorn, or ash, mold, fungi, or cobwebs, everything burned with a terrible musty smell. The once intact glass shattered under the uneven heat. They sat in the car, watching the abandoned town burn. Corruption bred beneath the earth, and the blackened, rusty bronze bell hanging atop the church spire finally fell. After more than two hundred years of waiting, the hate-filled bell smashed open the church ceiling and shattered the smoldering wooden floorboards.

A violent explosion rang out, spewing out methane gas. Wild flames, accompanied by massive amounts of ash, shot into the sky, even higher than the church steeple. Perhaps someone had buried horse manure beneath the church, or perhaps, as Wanda's visions suggested, something truly was hidden beneath it. But whatever the reason, he had to wait until the fire was extinguished before he could investigate.

“I hope it’s the latter. I hope they come directly to us.” The arcane mage’s obsidian eyes reflected the flames, as if his inner rage was about to erupt uncontrollably. Wanda knew why; this fire had been ignited the moment he saw the human corpses. “We’ll be the bait, making them think we’re just a bunch of ignorant mortals. I’m more interested in stuffing those vampires into humanoid wicker cages and burning them alive—a technique I learned from the druids. Wanda, interested in a camping trip? I’ve prepared a nice tent!”

"Only one?" Wanda recalled Natasha Romanoff's teachings.

"Yes, after all, we're FBI agents with limited funds, if they even know what an FBI agent is," the sorcerer said. "I'll also rent a cheap car, since this Aston Martin doesn't look cheap."

"If there's an outdoor barbecue, I might reluctantly join in once."
