Chapter 655 The Ways the Mystics Do Things
Chapter 655 The Ways the Mystics Do It (Second Update)
Three consecutive days of searches were conducted simultaneously in North America and Britain. After joint interrogations and investigations by Kamar-Taj and the Immortal City, Agent Victoria Hand finally obtained relatively complete intelligence. Kasirius also learned how the Church of Colonzon arrived in North America and what they brought from Scotland—surprisingly, the Church of Colonzon acquired the magic book in America, not from Scotland. Salomon's request to find the Boone family diary could prove this.
The remnants of the Cologne Church carried only a golden inverted cross.
While traveling by ship, they reversed the inverted cross to disguise themselves as Christians and began establishing Protestant churches in North America, recruiting followers under the guise of Protestantism. However, due to the poor fighting ability of the Colonzon Church members and the confiscation of their evil magic books by Kamar-Taj, they were unable to perform many "miracles" and often hastily revealed their evil beliefs, leading to many comical situations. As the Colonzon Church members themselves said, the Protestant missionary system was extremely chaotic, which allowed them to spread their faith under the guise of Protestantism. Perhaps their faith had clouded their judgment, or perhaps their use of the Protestant name led them to act in ways similar to the Puritans. When the Colonzon Church in North America attempted to preach to the local indigenous people, they were repeatedly hunted down by Native Americans. Even after establishing churches, they were attacked by followers incited by rival Catholic groups. To this day, even the leaders of the Colonzon Church in Scotland are unaware of the development of the North American church; the entire Colonzon Church is completely unmanaged.
“There are only scattered believers in North America, at least that’s what those we’ve captured say,” Cassirios frowned. “No organization, no activities, not even the specific name of their faith has been forgotten; only tattoos passed down through generations can prove their identity. It’s like trying to scoop a drop of water from the ocean—it’s impossible without powerful prophetic magic. But I don’t believe them. If that were the case, the evidence Salomon found shouldn’t have traced back to the Boone family.”
“The Immortal City can find them,” Victoria Hand said. “Under the latest agreement, some weak AI used for screening information can be used. As long as those cult members’ tattoos have ever been photographed and uploaded, the Immortal City can find them. That’s how we’ve found the criminals we’ve apprehended in North America, and overall, the agents operating in North America have suffered the least psychological contamination…”
"Sir!" A message from Immortal City interrupted Agent Hand and Kasirios's discussion: "Tony Stark has been photographed leaving Stark Industries in his Iron Man suit. According to heat signatures tracked by Wakanda's spy satellites and radar data, Tony Stark is heading towards this Sky Helicarrier."
"Activate fire control and air defense radar," Agent Hand ordered immediately. "If Tony Stark breaks in, teach him a lesson!"
Tony Stark's plan to fly directly into the bridge has completely failed.
Salomon was a staunch advocate of large-scale warfare, emphasizing the use of numerous cannons and machine guns on airships to reduce the number of aircraft they could carry, transforming a ship with virtually no armed forces into a sky battleship. Thus, Tony Stark was not met with Quinjet fighters or assault transports, but with a terrifying barrage of machine gun fire. Even his micro-missiles were intercepted by the anti-missile systems on both sides of the Retribution's hull. Wakanda's technological level far surpassed Tony Stark's, especially under the influence of Salomon's "everything can be used for military purposes" philosophy and the strong martial spirit instilled by Kamar-Taj. Much of Wakanda's technology was transformed into practical military equipment.
Individual combat armor is not invincible; the downed Stark is the best example. The Immortal City preemptively neutralized the Iron Man suit's attachment system, the Veronica system, rendering Stark unable to resupply via satellite.
Steve Rogers hurriedly returned to base and initiated a communication request to the Punisher.
"You're too late. Stark has already been shot down," the Hand agent said dryly. "I already gave them a warning."
"Stark is fine." Captain Rogers looked very helpless. "He's very unhappy right now."
"Then restrain him. The Immortal City didn't pursue him because they wanted him to live; don't waste my good intentions." Agent Hand glanced at the command panel. "But I think your advice is useless; he flew up again. He didn't drown in the sea."
"Let me handle this," Kasirius suddenly said. "Let me go up to the deck. If Stark calms down, we can resolve this peacefully. Stark is important to this world; if he insists on fighting, the machine guns could easily kill him. My intervention can solve this problem."
"Is this how you treat your guests?" Stark, clad in a bullet-riddled steel suit, was acutely wary of the man standing on the deck of a Skycarrier without an oxygen mask or thermal protection. He recognized Kasirius's origins from his clothing style and the insignia on his clothes. "I know this is the organization Salomon set up for Kamar-Taj," Stark said. "Can't you control him? Look at what he's done!"
"All his actions adhere to the precepts of Kamar-Taj." Kasirius raised his voice, slowly making his way through the still-unlaunched Quinjet fighters and assault transports, his voice cutting through the howling wind and directly into Stark's helmet. "You should reflect on your actions. This is a matter of magic; meddling will lead to an uncontrollable disaster!"
"Then we should cooperate even more."
“You…you don’t understand. You think you understand magic, that your wisdom is enough to suppress the magical threat. Ignorance is the most effective protection, and you hardly understand that, do you?” Kasirius gestured. “Steve Rogers knew what he had to do. And you, Tony Stark, you think you understand this world. Resistance is protection, Salomon is protecting you. And your thinking will lead you to a pathetic death.”
"Wow! So you're already threatening people? Don't you think your style of doing things is too domineering?"
"This is to prevent further death. Every arcane mage learns about this when they first begin their training," Kasirius smiled. "We know the sins we carry, and so did Salomon, though he learned them earlier and more deeply. He resolved in his childhood to bear these sins, to share his blood and flesh with mortals. This is not a metaphor, but a fact. Salomon was a born saint, a sacrifice you cannot comprehend. Now, I'm giving you one last chance: go back to your little lair, continue playing your world peace games, and don't bother him again."
What if I say no?
"Sir, there's an abnormal energy behind you..." Friday warned. Stark instinctively turned around and found that the space behind him was filled with terrifying cracks, like shattered glass.
“I will convince you, using Kamar-Taj’s usual methods,” Kasirius said. “No one will guess what new magic I’ve learned.”
