Chapter 727 Plucking Feathers from a Passing Goose

Chapter 727 Plucking Feathers from a Passing Goose (First Update)

"We went shopping for Christmas presents. I know Christmas is still a while away, but it's a good habit to prepare in advance, isn't it?" No one knew why the witch didn't like wearing a shirt with her women's suit; large expanses of smooth skin exposed were truly eye-catching. Salomon's gaze slid smoothly from her perfect collarbone down to her alluring abs. Joan of Arc preferred red, Bayonetta preferred black. Frankly, their choices were quite fitting, perfectly complementing their eyeshadow and lipstick.

Given that witches' fashion sense was stuck five hundred years in the past, their current level of sophistication is truly astonishing. Salomon believes he'll never understand the subtle balance between women's makeup and styling, let alone possess the witches' learning speed in the fashion world. However, this doesn't prevent him from using black and red as the sorority's primary colors and incorporating roses and lilies as design elements for the power armor. The sorority's initial concept was to continue the witches' knowledge and carry on Bayonetta and Jeanne's mission. However, as time passed and the plan evolved and improved, the sorority ultimately became the Immortal City's striking force in the real world, a team capable of precise deployment and strikes.

"Honesty is essential between lovers; it's an eternal and unchanging way of relating." Bayonetta's tone suddenly turned sinister. She pushed up her glasses, her pale gray eyes fixed on the bandage on the sorcerer's arm, as stern as a teacher looking at a mischievous student. "So, after I've told you about my schedule, shouldn't you tell me what happened to this injury?" Her tone was exactly like a stern teacher brandishing a cane. Originally, this role was supposed to be played by Joan of Arc, but this time Bayonetta was too hasty, so she didn't properly assign roles to Joan. The witch carefully examined the wound with her fingers. "What mission in Kamar-Taj could possibly hurt you? Look into my eyes, boy, not my chest."

Salomon removes the bandages.

Dinah took the bandage with surprising speed and immediately implemented a secrecy procedure. The arcane mage's DNA was a top secret of the Immortal City, and one of Dinah's primary responsibilities was to ensure his genetic information was not leaked; hence, she took charge of all the household chores, diligently fulfilling this duty.

"It was just a sword duel practice. No supernatural powers were used, so I didn't undo the stigmata." The sorcerer felt the tingling sensation from the witch's fingertips lightly touching him. This was the prelude to their flirtation, but this time the witch stopped him from reacting to the action with a look.

"I'm checking the wound."

"It's just a minor injury. If you had come back a few hours later, my injury might have been healed."

Just as Salomon had said, Hela's wounds would heal in a few hours. Frigga used magical herbs from Vanaheim cultivated in the greenhouse, alchemical potions from Kamar-Taj, and the self-healing ability inherent in the Stigmata, so even Hela's powerful "Night Sky" couldn't stop the wounds from healing.

"Don't try to fool me, I can see how serious this injury was originally! A few hours? So you could enjoy the women's high jump? Or are you trying to tell me that the magic on your arm isn't supernatural?" Bayonetta said irritably, arms crossed. She had just returned to the manor when Salomon switched the TV to children's programming, pretending to chat with a glove puppet on screen who was speaking in a fake voice. However, all of this couldn't fool the witch, because she was the one who subscribed to the manor's TV channel, specifically for children's programming for her future child. As she herself said, she was a stay-at-home woman.

Even if that's not the case now, she is still studying hard.

"I smelled this stench of magic on you when the dark elves invaded. Tell me, is it from that woman named Hela?"

Salomon glanced at the maid standing to the side. Dina stared intently at the burning fireplace, expressionless and pretending not to hear anything, as if the burnt-to-the-ash bandages were still worth her attention. The sorcerer didn't expose his maid's little scheme; as long as it didn't involve work, he was always easy to talk to. "Yes, the Venerable One and I have made arrangements for her," the sorcerer had to admit part of the truth, "but that woman has been imprisoned on a planet for too long, and she's the only living being on that planet, so she's become somewhat insane. Her mind only returns to normal during battle… The Venerable One and I need her to return to normal, even if only temporarily."

"How long is this ridiculous sword-fighting game going to go on?"

"Didn't we agree not to talk about Kamar-Taj?"

"That's because you came home injured this time!" Bayonetta said, somewhat annoyed. "Work must be put aside for family matters, that's something you promised!"

"We're not an ordinary family; we're people who fight in blood and iron." The sorcerer smiled. Hela's matter was important, but in Salomon's plan, it was a variable, not a constant. If Hela were a crucial turning point, Salomon wouldn't have been so gentle with her. "I promise you, I won't give her the chance to hurt me again. There won't be a next time, my dear. Our safe haven shouldn't have the smell of blood."

The Immortal City was built beneath thick layers of rock, shielded from electromagnetic waves and sunlight. Within this heavily guarded city, the security of the biological laboratory was exceptionally tight. Guard Zero, carrying a briefcase, passed through more than a dozen airtight steel doors. Only when he grew weary of the stark white lights overhead, the winding corridors, the monotonous concrete ceilings, and the endless identity verification did he finally arrive before the head of the biological laboratory. He didn't enter the laboratory, but instead met the biologist, who had removed his sterile lab coat, in the reception room outside.

"This is a DNA sample of the Asgardians brought back by the monarch. It needs to be compared with Thor's DNA sample." Guard Zero handed the briefcase to Maya Hansen. "It needs to be recorded, and this genetic information needs to be cloned as a sample."

"Where did these things come from?" Maya Hansen asked curiously. Genetic information samples from Asgardians are not common. Thor's sample was obtained many years ago. The fact that a sample has suddenly been sent to be compared with Thor's genetic information indicates that the owner of this sample is no ordinary person and can definitely be considered a member of the royal family.

"Could it be Loki's?" she asked. "Isn't Loki a Frost Giant?"

"This is the genetic information of the Asgardians, don't get it wrong. As for other information, I have nothing to say."

“Child, I know your genetic information inside and out. You were born from the hands of myself and Salomon. You have no secrets from me,” Maya Hansen said with a smile. “Besides, I have the authority to pursue this matter. If I personally go to our superior, do you think he won’t tell me something? Don’t waste time. Tell me things that only I know. Also—”

"—Do you remember anything about this place?" Maya Hansen stood up from the sofa in the reception room and pointed to the passageway outside. Her interest in the boy before her was far greater than her interest in the samples, because Salomon's genetic information was far more peculiar than that of the Asgardians, like a vast treasure trove that would be difficult to fully explore in a short time. "You've frequented this place. Do you remember anything from before the modifications? Please answer truthfully; I need complete records. Only then can we create more qualified Royal Guards."

Zero, the Imperial Guard, remained expressionless, and no one could guess what he was thinking.

"Please conduct the research as soon as possible, as it involves another project."
